When we got our system put up, they said if we ever needed to take the panels down to do roofing work, it would cost $ 400. Well 3 years later and we need to reroof. They ended up charging us $ 5,600! Then when they put the panels back up its not aligned on the track correctly. When we call to have them fix it, they claim it is on correctly. They tell us we need to show them pictures as proof of what it looked like before they took it down. Then they want to cut the track instead of just moving the panels into correct position. 3 weeks later they finally agree to come and fix it. However here is the kicker– when they reinstalled the panels the first time they forgot to flip the switch to get it working. When they came back to fix the incorrect reinstall they still didn’t flip the switch. Now we have just gone through one of the hottest months of the year with no solar panels working. Now our electric bill will be ridiculous because they didn’t flip the switch both times they worked on the panels. They don’t return phone calls, get defensive instead of being accountable or helpful, customer service is horrible.

Bonterra Solar is terrible. They are truly incompetent. The sales team will say all the right things to get your business but they will not deliver on the representations that they make. On our job, they did not communicate with us after we signed and gave them money(½ of the contract up front!). They did not show up to do the installation when they scheduled it. When they finally did show up, they brought the wrong products(not what we contracted for). If we had not checked the paperwork, they would have put the wrong stuff in. They could care less. After installation, the system did not work. Just try to get them back to correct their sloppy installation. There is so much more to tell you but I don’t have space here to go into all of the details of their bad service. Be warned. Don’t do business with this company. If you go with Bonterra Solar, you will be sorry.

Bonterra installed a first class system at my home. I cannot deny that. They should get 5 stars for that. Installers were thoroughly professional. The reason they only got 3 stars is because, frankly, communication between them and the customer is severely lacking. Seems like I can’t get anyone to answer an email, much less return a phone call. Even the salesman who sold me the system(he is right on, by the way) has a hard time getting the company to respond. Sigh, this company does good work, but needs to really work on communicating with and keeping its customers informed.
