My military primary care physician referred me to Tripler AMC Dermatology for a suspicious growth behind my right ear. Biopsy results revealed BCC. The size and depth of the lesion required a specialty surgery known as «Mohs» and, since this is a service not offered at Tripler, they referred me to a local Mohs specialist in the Honolulu area. Upon doing quite a bit of online research about the procedure itself and the local physicians able to do it, I immediately concluded that Dr. Boyer is THE Mohs surgeon in Hawaii… impeccable credentials, extensive treatment experience, and Mohs is ALL HE DOES! On my first visit with him, he conducted a full-​body inspection to get a good idea of my skin condition and to identify any other problem areas, found numerous areas that required his attention, and outlined a surgical schedule to take care of ALL the suspicious lesions he found… instead of just making a fast dollar on the one thing I needed done, he was genuinely concerned and interested in my overall dermatological health and set forth to resolve the things he knew needed priority attention. It took us a little more than 3 months, but I am now carcinoma-​free because Dr. Boyer takes a great long-​view towards his patients’ best interests and not just what’s staring them in the face. His professional demeanor is no-​nonsense but he treats you with compassion and sincere interest. His staff are ultimate professionals… I don’t know who does his hiring or what hiring criteria they’re using, but every single employee in his office is 100% solid gold… courteous, efficient, and always pleasant. My appointments were always on-time…they never seem to be running behind schedule… every one of my seven visits to Dr. Boyer’s office were among my very best medical experiences. If you need Mohs and you’re in Hawaii, you don’t need to look past Dr. Boyer… I’m telling you, he’s your best surgeon! I also like that he is a military veteran and continues to serve the military community as a TriCare network provider, ensuring military folks the very best in medical care outside of their MTF.

Went in today to have a basal cell removed from my forehead. Dr. Boyer and his staff are as friendly, informative, and helpful as it gets! The procedure was quick and painless and their at home instructions for pain and wound care really help out. It’s 8:45pm and Dr. Boyer just called me at home to see how I’m doing. What a great doctor!

I went to Dr. Boyer to get a BCC removed from my face. I was terrified and unhappy about the whole deal. But, I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Boyer and his staff. They were sympathetic, courteous, knowledgeable, experienced and very competent. It has been four days since my procedure the (not small) site of the procedure is healing very well. The reconstruction/​stitches Dr. Boyer put in are lovely and I trust what the man said that in a year the scar will be negligible. The doctor and his staff did a great job. I highly recommend this doctor.
