Tasty! The restaurant is a whole lot larger that I thought. Every time I pass by, I think what a risky dinky hole in the wall… but that’s just the façade. The parking is okay. It’s junk if there are large cars next to you. I could not exit easily with 2 large cars on the side of me and scraped my bumper on the back wall. Ai-ya! Anyway, food was saucy, fresh and very tasty! Nice place to bring visitors… though kids might not care for exotic flavors.

Love it. Glad we stopped for dinner. We ordered the Seafood Mixed Vegetable and the Thai Green Curry. We loved them both. Delicious … I am looking forward to the next time to try something different.

Hawaii doesn’t have a huge variety of options for vegetarians, and then narrowing them down to the actually good places makes the list even smaller. Lucky for us, Chiang Mai comes through with a decent vegetarian menu, and a willingness to alter other dishes to be vegetarian when asked. Our faves when we go are mostly from the starter menu. papaya salad, crispy noodle salad, Thom kha, satay tofu, etc. The mains are ok, but we have found we mostly just want our favorites when we go. Easy to find; parking can be found with a little patience and eagle eyes, if you aren’t lucky enough to score a spot in the tiny parking lot out back; the people are nice. I recommend.

Great place with great food. Order off the daily special menu. Soft shell panang was really good.

Chiang Mai has been around for a long as I can remember and this was the place for good reasonably priced thai food in a nice atmosphere. In recent years there has been other new thai places that have opened up mainly run by «mom and pops». Chiang Mai has stayed consistent but their prices has steadily increased but portion size seem like it got smaller with the new fancy angled serving dishes.

Party of four dined at Chiang Mai. For our dinner we shared: papaya salad, stuffed chicken wings, shrimp pad tai; eggplant with tofu and the seafood tom yum. Stuffed wings was crispy yet juicy with great flavor. Papaya salad was solid & refreshing, pad thai and eggplant were above average and the seafood tom yum was the best that we ever had, loaded with crab leg, clam, shrimp, fish filet, calamari and the rich aromatic flavor of Thai species. Chiang Mai has been in business for many years, we are happy that the food quality and customer service are always there, and thus earned its place on our must do list whenever possible on our Hawaii visits.

Delicious food — we had Tom Kha Gai(they made it with fish upon request), Pad Siew, Pad Thai, and Cashew Chicken. My husband asked for his Cashew Chicken«Thai spicy» and it was definitely spicy. Our water glasses were filled every few minutes without having to ask. The food came out of the kitchen extremely fast. They honored the free tapioca promotion very kindly and it was delicious. The staff were all very nice. We were seated in the awesome window seat and I LOVED sitting cross legged on the lovely cushions. Our eight year old, who is an expert on Pad Thai, declared her dish to be five stars. This restaurant is going on our«Go To List».

Chiang Mai Thai is decked out with Thai furniture and décor! A great date place for casual dining. Large parking lot in the back. Food is terrific and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Our table of six came here at around 7:30. Restuarant was pretty full but we were able to be seated shortly after. Our table was in the corner, and was really dark since one of the light bulbs was blown out. We complained, and the waiter immediately switched one out for us. This is only our second time here, so we weren’t really sure what to order. This is what we ordered: Golden calamari: crunchy and delicious! Beef salad: generous amount of beef Papaya salad: little bit too much sauce Pineapple fried rice: delicious and served in a pineapple bowl Yellow seafood curry: goes perfectly with the restaurants sticky rice! Overalls delicious food, and our waiter was really friendly. Definitely would come back

This place is very reasonable and the waitresses are nice. I went there with 4 other people, ate so much and of course we ordered desserts too. The check was only $ 30 per person. I recommend to go there as a group, so you can share and enjoy more food.

Becoming my go-to place for Thai. Been here about 6 times now and food is always consistently good. On the most recent visit tried their daily special Dungeness crab curry. Funny thing though. That Dungeness crab turned out to be snow crab. Say what? Other than that, flavor was delicious. Spring rolls are awesome. Larb, pad thai, all good. But don’t make the mistake of ordering your dishes«spicy.» Holy crap. I’m Korean so I can handle spiciness but damn, their level of spicy made me need some serious TP for my bunghole. The only good thing about the hotness was that it was so hot I could only manage to eat a small portion before getting full by downing so much water. That really helps with the diet. Next time, medium!

Scary bathrooms: beware! Other than that, food was pretty good but not SPECTACULAR and pretty typical of thai restaurants, in my opinion. Chiang Mai is located on King St, just before Stadium park. My family likes thai(and for good reason) occasionally choose Chiang Mai but I’m never blown away when I come here. I think the reason I wouldn’t give it the«average» 4-star rating is because the bathrooms are so spooky. They are not located inside the restaurant. Instead, you have to get a key from the staff and go outside, behind the restaurant, where the parking lot is. It’s pretty creepy in the evening and made me a little nervous when I had to go. *Also I hate bathroom keys because it feels like it cancels out washing my hands when I have to bring it back :/ Anyway, don’t be deterred if you’re not a scaredy cat like me because the food is pretty good! I am a fan of pad see ew almost anywhere and this place was no exception. The curries are also pretty good(I forgot which one we ordered) and we ended the evening with fried ice cream that was done quite well. I love fried ice cream and you can’t find it everywhere! Bottom line is: pretty standard for thai restaurants. There are some that are better and some that are worse but if you decide to dine here. Beware of the bathrooms!

While the food was alright it was pricey. The flavors were good but nothing that left me thinking, «wow». I was surprised that a lunch for four ended up being $ 90 although we did order an appetizer as well as entrées. They had good parking available which was nice. We all ordered a soda… different ones and they were awful… really watered down. The waitress was polite and accomodating. Bathrooms… well try not to use them. A pleasant dining experience.
