My rating is a rating of a plate lunch type establishment. Rating includes: Value, taste, and service. I like coming here for the large variety of plate lunches they have. They also offer breakfast all day and I don’t like to put food in a «box» that says it should only be eaten between certain hours. They serve the usual local favorites, way to many to list, and also have a good selection of Filipino food too. Service is very friendly. Servings are large. You can get just about anything from the many choices offered for less than $ 8 and in many cases a few dollars less than that. Breakfasts run less than $ 6.50 a plate. Most plate lunches come with the standard rice and Mac salad but they also offer mashed potatoes and tossed greens for the lunch plates and rice or hash browns for the breakfast plates. A jumbo soda is huge and only $ 2. On this day I had a mixed plate with diniguan(«chocolate» meat) and guisantes(pork and peas), with all rice. I think it was $ 8.50 but I forgot to check. My plate had to be a few pounds. Both the diniguan and guisantes were tender and delicious. The rice was perfectly cooked as well and everyone knows how important good rice is to a great plate lunch. Not hard like gravel and not musky enough to make mochi. My mom /driver after my post surgery appointment had the spinach omelette with all rice. Her omelette was $ 6.50 and had spinach, bacon, onion, mushrooms, and cheese, served on rice. She loved it and asked me why I never took her there before. Actually I didn’t realize I hadn’t but will be sure to take her back when in the neighborhood. I’d recommend Christine’s Diner to anybody craving a choice of good plate lunches or craving breakfast food.

Ordered the Spicy Pork x Meat Jun Mix and it was delicious! Not to mention the price was very reasonable. Especially in Hawaii! I’d definitely recommend

Good local style comfort food! a place not for the well rounded Tourist, you’re better off eating the expensive fake phony food in them Tourist joints which are also great.

I must say, I am very disappointed with this place. I asked a local gentleman who works at a nearby car rental for a must go to place for tourists to have lunch. He directed me to Christine’s. So my family and I went for lunch. The cashier had no idea what she was doing(does not even know their own pricing). I got their steak and garlic shrimp. The shrimp was ok, the steak was blend(no taste), the rice bedding was submerged in butter(yes, go figure)? As I started eating, i see a bug, cockroach to be exact crawling on the wall and ceiling. Imagine eating when you are starving and that happens to you? What would you do? I mean how are they still in business? When was the last health department visit? I do not recommend anyone, especially any tourists to come to this infested restaurant. This is a warning to all. I have never been so disgusted in my life and not to mention I was accompanied by both my nephew and niece whom are 8 years below. I just want to share my experience with you all because I wouldn’t want anyone else to experience this. Thank you.

Ate here on a whim after walking from our hotel. We were in Honolulu for just a quick night with an inter-island flight the next day. Originally was going for the sushi place across the street but once we got there, realized it was take-out only. Turned around and decided to try this place. VERY glad we did. Walked in to a group of police officers and airport workers eating here, so we figured it can’t be bad if the locals are here. Everything we had was delicious and we got SO. MUCH. FOOD. for just the two entrees we ordered.

They never got my order correct. Every time I call in my order, I always end up waiting there for them to make my correct order. I feel as if they are rushing all the time, even when it’s not necessary. And the last couple times of getting my order wrong & then having to wait for them to make a new one… they still somehow got it wrong or just totally mixed up with another customer’s order. I rather go to Joe’s right across of them. They have better service & food.

Me and my wrlove this place. I think we’ve tried just about everything on the menu and not one bad review. My favorite are their breakfast specials just choose one. My favorite is the western omelette with the cornbeef hash. My wife likes the steak and pork adobo rice with the over easy egg. All in all great food and great prices must try.

This is a cool little hole in the wall greasy spoon place. I think what best to call it is… A kitchen laboratory, someone’s attempt to be a restaurant but more so a large home kitchen. There are so many menus on the wall, you don’t really know what they got… But… Inside this hot mess, is a home cooking gem! It’s backing is flilpino for sure, but they experiment with everything and the kitchen sink. Cheap and cool! Try it…

You can take a piece of Hawaii home with you on the plane, or experience some Hawaiian nostalgia at this«cheap eats» diner near the airport. It’s a little tricky to find the first time if you’re relying on your GPS. I’m a kamaaina. And I still got lost. So the simplest way to find it is to program Alamo Car Rental and find it that way. Christine’s Diner is part of a strip mall where Chan’s Gourmet Buffet and Joe’s Grill Express are also situated. At Christine’s, you will find these pluses: — Variety of dishes — Flavor/taste — Generous portions — Value — Friendly staff — Iced water and a place to sit(and watch your favorite football team play) or takeout. They have five tables that can accommodate parties of up to four, and one table for two. — Abundant, free and easy parking What’s not to love? I enjoyed the chicken tofu with vegetables, with hearty serving of tender boneless chicken, tofu, watercress, tomato, zucchini, green peppers, in a savory sauce with hint of ginger. Delicious comfort food from the islands! Price tag $ 6.95 plus tax. Pay a visit to this family-run business and show them some support!

Stepping off the plane & starving? COMEHERE. PROS: 1) Generous portions 2) Pretty cheap! ~$ 6 – 8 per plate 3) Friendly & fast service — They were happy to explain everything on their menu and the plate came out surprisingly fast! 4) Tasty food! 5) SOMANYOPTIONS, it’s overwhelming. It would be impossible to not find something you like. CONS: I can’t even really think of anything… besides perhaps the food probably isn’t that healthy, but if you’re in Hawaii you’re probably on vacation so it’s worth! If you had to chose one thing, the Adobo fried rice was pretty good!

Love this place. Ate here about 3 times during the week I was in Oahu. If I had known about this place before, i would have left the airport and day 1 and eaten here. I ordered different things each time though.

I was supposed to go to lunch with my cousin to another place in the area, but it closed earlier than we thought, so we decided to drive around to look for a place to eat. We ran into this little plaza, and it was either Joe’s or this place. What brought me here was that it accepted card, and that the prices were generally lower. The interior is kind of small, so you could eat there if it’s just a couple of you. Otherwise I’d recommend take out. Likes: Prices are generally low, and portions are generous. I could share a combo plate with someone and be satisfied. The lady taking orders is really sweet too. Dislikes: Some of the dishes here aren’t prepared in ways you’d expect. The mochiko chicken looks like a cutlet with the mochiko crust, and topped with a sauce. The adobo fried rice has the sauce over the rice. The garlic chicken is reminiscent of orange chicken. They did taste good, it’s just when you’re expecting something«standard» from a typical plate lunch place, you might be a little disappointed. Favorites: The fried pork is more like roast pork with diced tomato and onions. Very Filipino, and one of my favorite things here. Come here if you’re looking for cheap eats and generous portions. Be aware that some dishes may be prepared differently than other places, so it doesn’t hurt to ask how it’s prepared.

I stopped watching the news segment«Cheap Eats» because lately, the restaurants they feature were not really cheap. They should feature Christine’s Diner(if they haven’t already), because this is the real deal. Just about every entrée here is below $ 8 and the portions are generous. My wife and I were a bit nervous because they had such a wide variety of dishes, are they going to be good? Here are the highlights: Fried Ono — nice brown crisp on outside and very moist on the inside. The piece of fish is pretty close to one pound. Generous amounts of fried garlic accompanies the fish. A great bargain at $ 7.55. Pork Adobo with fried rice — this came with shrimp and fried egg as a bonus. Pork Adobo is very tender and not too much of an overpowering vinegar flavor. Another steal at $ 6.50. Mochiko Chicken — the most«expensive» plate at $ 7.50. Chicken is moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. Not too sweet.

I had the steak, pork chop, hot links and two eggs with hash browns & gravy for $ 8.25 where can you even think of finding something like this for that price. Boneless short ribs soup with amazing green sauce for $ 7.00. The food here is just like your mom would make if your mom knew how to cook really good food. The complementary pickled daikon is definitely an added bonus. And I always get a bowl of chicken papaya soup to go because it is amazing and only $ 6.00

Good food, I got the Island Special, fast and friendly! The options on this plate included about 6 different types of meats, any style of eggs, and hash browns or rice. I may have not done the math right but it’s like 32 different ways they serve this, just one, dish. There were plenty of other choices on the menu . Definitely a diner atmosphere, but the waitress /cashier was very friendly(and busy). Great little place for breakfast, I will have to try dinner!

Right across the parking lot from Joe’s Grill Express. They keep their prices low too since it’s competition. I would say you can’t compare the food from Joes because it’s different. The breakfast and lunch items have a Filipino hint to it. There’s longanisa, pinakbet, and lechon. There’s garlic shrimp, steak, garlic ahi, chicken katsu etc. Plenty of parking and the service is fast and friendly.

430am, and a holiday today. Where to get breakfast? I see a light on down by Nimitz Highway, OK I go try. There is a single place open Christine’s Diner. Okay what the heck. Get there, and the sign says open at 5am. Rats, but the guy sees me out side and motions me to come in. Checks out the. Mostly Filipino foods but with English names. They even had ox tail soup. I order the Short Rib soup(laya). Got to say as cold and hungry as I was. It was welcoming. Pretty standard. Lots of other stuff too, Chinese styled omelettes(lup chong, char sui etc, portegees, like longenisa, pork adobo, shrimp, steak, hash brown, spinach, hot dog,. fusion food. No complaints. Good enough. Will try come back and try the longanisa and adobo omelette. That sounds interesting.
