If I could give Hal Teruya 6 stars I would! I HIGHLY recommend Comotronic. My expensive Zojirushi rice cooker stopped working and I thought I would need to spend a lot of money to purchase a new one. However I took it to Comotronic yesterday morning. By late afternoon the same day Hal called to say he had fixed it and I could pick it up the next day. He only charged me $ 15.00. He was cordial, polite and very honest. I am very pleased with his service
and I am glad I took my rice cooker to Comotronic.

Everyone told me just buy another one since televisions are cheap (compare to a few years ago).
After seeing a few other reviews on Unilocal about Hal and Comotronic, I figure give it try. In person I sensed he was a honest repairman.
Here’s what I was thinking, if II can get another few years from my 8 year old Sony 46″ Bravia for under $ 200 then it’s worth it. Besides those prices for HD televisions are still trending downwards, new technologies on the horizon yet I am not ready to buy the latest ‘Ultra HD 4K’ either.
With us, Hal took much longer with my television as we were looking a specific Sony power supply part that was no longer produced and available. Hal suggested that he will keep trying weekly to locate this elusive part. Two months later I asked Hal what’s the part that he’s chasing down, amazingly I was able to locate a supplier online in Chicago hat specializes in ‘harvested’ parts. I pass the information along to Hal and about a week later my television was repaired.
(10−5−14) My television has been working for nearly 2 weeks now and I’m glad in my choice to get it repaired {fingers Xed}
One bummer with Comotronic is their parking. it’s only the metered stalls on Kanunu Streeet. It was tough when I dropped it off however there was a stall available when I picked it up.

After HECO fried my Sony BluRay player with a power surge, the Sony «repair» center in Mapunapuna recommended this guy. He was honest up front that he might not be able to repair it, but the next morning he called with the good news and a price quote. I picked it up the next day and the price was reasonable.

I would HIGHLY recommend Comotronics TV repair. When my Sony failed to turn on I assumed I’d be buying a new one but I needed an honest opinion. Hal Teruya came out the day I called, fixed the problem in no time flat! He certainly has the experience (25 years), is cordial and conscientious. I’m keeping his card for all of my TV, audio and video needs.

Having a lazy moment, I decided to take in my KDL-​46vl160 lcd bravia tv in for an estimate — it powered on, but was having lines through the picture. After a few days, Hal called me back and told me the panel was bad — its not worth fixing. The cost of a new panel would have been more than a new tv.
Then I also took my tv to sony in mapunapuna… same story… bad panel.
I then took the tv home myself and took it apart (what I should have done in the first place)… opened it up, took of the metal liner on the top, like on this video:

and fixed the problem for free. If I can figure out how to fix a tv from youtube that these people couldn’t figure out was just a loose connector, I have to say these people are retarded, or that sony has an agreement with them to not actually fix shit so people buy new stuff.

Do Not Ever Go Here!!! I brought my 42″ Vizio here because the cable connector ripped out of the back. Everything else worked fine (HDMI, AV, ect.) but after he replaced the cable connector there was a pink streaking lines on the whole left side of the screen! When I told him it wasn’t like that when I brought it in, he claimed he never checked before hand so he is not responsible. Now I can’t watch anything on it at all and he expects me to pay! He broke my TV worse then when I brought it in, and he can’t even fix it! This is the worst TV Repair service I’ve ever seen!

As far as TV repair places go, Comotronic is as good as it gets.
I haven’t had my TV repaired here, but I’ve spoken to Hal, owner, several times in regard to my friends’ TVs. I explained the symptoms they were having, and he provided several diagnoses along with reasonable estimates for repair. He even let me borrow a screw driver once because I needed one desperately to fix something in my apartment.
Word on the street is that he’s been fixing TVs for about 250 years and he fixes TVs for local hotels, but this is an unconfirmed report provided by a security guard.
Tip: Call first before showing up because he works odd hours, and I think he does house calls, too.

Our 4 year old 46″ flat screen Sam Sung was making clicking noises. Unable to turn on, just constant clicking noises like it was trying to turn on only. My tv was too young to die and we threw away the box after 4yrs. We called Hal Teruya, he came over that after noon and fixed it in 30 minutes. He charged $ 120. The culprit was 2 burnt capacitors. He gave me my 2 small blue capacitors as proof. He was quick, on time, and professional. Saved my a ton of money by fixing my tv. I googled the problem and sure enought it’s a common problem in Sam Sung around the 3−4yr old range. I just wanted to see if he was on the up and up. I trust this guy and would definately refer him to my friends.

My grandma’s rather old and LARGE television was flickering between color and B&W, and making a loud popping noise. We were dreading having it repaired because carrying that large and heavy TV down from her second story house was going to be a nightmare. I took a shot and Unilocaled «TV repair» and found Comotronic. The repairman answered right away when I called, was able to give me a preliminary diagnosis of the problem over the phone along with a tentative estimate of $ 180 – 200, which included a $ 40 service call fee for coming to the house. If we opted not to do the repair, we would have paid just the $ 40 for his time & fuel to do the housecall.
He scheduled a house call for later that day (fast!). He showed up half an hour early, but called when he was on his way — we appreciated the heads up, and that we didn’t have to wait around for so long. He repaired the TV within half an hour, and only charged us $ 160! Less than what he estimated… Very reasonable. Friendly, knowledgable, efficient and trustworthy service earned him 5 stars. Will definitely use him again in the future!

I first Googled my TV’s problem to get an idea what the ballpark cost is. It was a common problem and I got a range of $ 200 to $ 500 (mainland prices). I selected Comotronic because it was an authorized Sony repair service and I recognized that the company has been around for years. After giving owner Hal Teruya my TV’s model number and describing the problem he said it most likely be around $ 130 or $ 200 depending on exactly what part needed to be replaced (including the cost of a house call). He came over the next day, and to my surprise the problem was only $ 130! He could have charged me more and how would I know?!
Part 2. A few months later a different problem came up with my TV so I called Hal and he came over the next day. After he fixed it I asked how much, and he said no charge! Can you believe it? He said he felt bad because he should have caught it the first time. Again, how would I have known because to me the second problem was completely different.
Hal is a trustworthy TV repairman and to top it off, he calls when he’s on his way to your house.
