Design Within Reach

The shop has wonderful furniture pieces and I love each item I purchased from them. But, their customer service has been completely disorganized and outright disrespectful. I made a $ 5000 order and could not get a call back as to when I would receive my furniture. It took me five phone calls over the course of a month, each time being promised of a call back, and I finally had to return my order. I won’t be ordering from them again.

We bought some beautiful Finn outdoor furniture. We had been in the store several times but yes, the items there are pricey. We love the Finn collection and Ross was so helpful. He kept us informed when it was going to go on sale so we could order it before it sold out. I had some questions about the delivery and Ross did his best to resolve my concerns.

We were looking for a coffee table. Had a lot of nice things but nothing that we were looking for. Had a nice Eames chair that I really like. Very expensive but cool furniture. They don’t stock anything, it gets shipped from the mainland.

My husband jokingly likes to call this place Design Beyond Reach. This is very high end designer furniture. They specialize in mid-​century modern pieces by Herman Miller, Knoll, as well as some very talented contemporary designers.
Most of the sales are 15% off and occasionally free shipping is offered.
Curtis has gone above and beyond the call for us. He remembers the pieces we’re interested in and he always sends us a card or email to let us know when those pieces are going on sale.
We love every piece we have purchased from DWR and we look forward to adding to our collection over the years to come.

been wanting to buy a wall clock for my apartment. well, design within reach it is not. not yet anyways. haha the five models the store has on display are a bit shy of my taste or what am looking for. yet the opportunity to be or become creative with what i want to do, was oh so ever present; not only with the wall clock idea but, with the décor in my apartment as well. hence, another and more elaborate fantasy of mine.
the gentleman who offered to help me was way beyond skilled. kuddos to you, buddy. i am glad i had a chance to talk to you. initially, it was me needing to ask questions — well, in the end, it was i who provided all the answers; for he wanted to learn all about south beach (miami), where i happened to have previously lived. sigh !
chairs, more chairs and more chairs … i want them all. yet i only need a wall clock. :)

Absolutely beautiful furniture. You won’t find high quality, designed furniture like this anywhere else in Hawaii, not even at Inspiration.
However, it is very $$$$. If I was rich, I would come here for all my furniture.
As my fiancé, says… they should rename the store to «Design OUT of Reach»

So excited about the Saarinen dining table we bought here today. A modern classic that will never go out of style. Curtis has been so helpful in helping us make a decision; definitely ask for him if you go in! My husband plans on renovating and redesigning his office soon; we’ll definitely be back to purchase more furniture here.

As a huge interior design junkie, I was very happy to discover that Honolulu has been keeping tabs on global design with stores such as Design Within Reach (DWR). While the Honolulu location is only a studio as opposed to a regular store of the large chain, it stocks some nice items (though also some boring ones). How ‘within reach’ it is really depends on what you personally consider expensive, but this store is a great addition to other furniture stores in Honolulu.
