We received a gift certificate for this place and were very excited to try it out. Since Ruth’s Chris and Gordon Ramsey’s Steakhouse are our two favorite places to order steak, we decided to order the same dishes here at DK so we could objectively compare them. We started the meal with their wedge salad, which was just okay. The lettuce was slightly brown and wilted, and had a strange taste. There were no onions, the tomatoes were bland but the blue cheese dressing and hard boiled egg tasted fine. We actually prefer the version served at Outback Steakhouse over this one. For our main meal, we ordered their regular 22 ounce bone-in ribeye(not the dry-aged one), creamed spinach, and potatoes au gratin. As per our usual routine, we split everything. The potatoes au gratin did not have much flavor and was an unusual grey color(probably from the potatoes being exposed to air too long) but it tasted okay. When asked, my b/f chose this as his favorite dish. On the bright side, the spinach tasted fresh and was a verdant green color, and was my pick of the night. My b/f ordered peppercorn sauce to go with the steak, which we expected to be served on the side but instead was smothered in it. The sauce tasted like the packaged variety of brown gravy and was way too salty and only had a few whole peppercorns. The steak itself was extremely gristly, dry, and had 2 small shards of a bone(not the full bone usually found in a bone-in ribeye) and was not the delectable version served at Ruth’s Chris or Gordon Ramsey’s. It tasted EXTREMELYOLD and we both felt sick to our stomachs later that night. That was 2 nights ago and we are still feeling some ill effects. I do not like writing negative reviews, but felt like we needed to let our fellow awesome Unilocalers know about our unfortunate experience here and perhaps spare them from getting sick or a bellyache. Overall the ambiance was pleasant and it had interesting décor, contemporary music playing in the background, and our waitress Brittany was sweet. Based on the lack of flavor and being served old steak that made us sick, we would not come back here nor recommend it to anyone.

Went here as I was staying in the hotel during a trip. Underwhelmed on multiple levels. I live in a big city with great steakhouses and this one left a lot to be desired. As one reviewer said it’s slightly above Outback, which I totally agree. For starters I had the thick cut bacon app that was served with some pineapple jam. I was good but nothing to rave about. Then for my entrée I had the shrimp scampi pasta. The advertise the shrimp as being huge shrimp, yeah no. While they were large they weren’t colossal like they make it seem. The scampi needed salt and lemon, this is coming from someone who doesn’t like a lot of salt in her food. The portion size is okay but not for the price. They never filled my water and it wasn’t super busy. I felt like I didn’t get the service I would get if I were with a bigger party but whatever. I’ve definitely had better and I had better when I was in Hawaii. Maybe the steaks are better but overall I wasn’t impressed. On another note: A couple got engaged when I was there so that was fun.

Awesome restaurant, sit outside to catch a beautiful sunset too! The filet mignon was fantastic! Soft, light, tender, buttery, melt in your mouth deliciousness. The only downside that does not warrant a 5 star review is the fact that the price of the steak does not include a side at all. 42 bucks for a 10 oz filet? Although, the side of fries we ordered was humongous and plenty for two people. Overall, great experience for a night out splurge.

Just had my first dining experience here and I gotta say I was very impressed. I didn’t know what to expect other than some pretty quality steak & sides. But the environment, food and service(from our waiter, David) was top notch. I was never too thirsty and always eager to eat more! Definitely gotta come back here for a special occasion.

Delicious food, locally sourced and organic. Super friendly staff and great service. The steak will melt in your mouth! A little pricy but worth it!

Let me just start off with saying if this place was about 50% cheaper I would have given it four stars because quality wise it’s slightly above Outback. Anyways haven’t went out for steak in years because let’s face it, it’s usually not worth it and most folk can make a quality steak using quality meat from your local butcher or Costco so why pay the premium, it’s hard to screw up rare at home. Still was staying downtown anyways and my kid likes steak so I was like screw it, let’s give it a shot as my buddies always rant how this place is just as good as Hy’s or Ruth’s at half the price(disclaimer: I’ve never been to those other two places either). On the bright side artwork is nice and the Old Fashion’s while not great, are decent enough and I enjoyed the gimmicky giant single ice cube. Also the thick cut bacon was pretty tasty. not a huge fan myself but my daughter loved it; it was thick, not too fatty, had a good smokey flavor, and the chutney to dip it in worked well with it. On the meh side was the steak itself. Nothing special and could buy and make the same quality myself though I was kicking myself in the ass for not getting the dry-rubbed Japanese steak which is the one thing I wanted to get there(I was distracted trying to help my daughter select a steak so I when the waiter asked me I reverted to my normal fillet). I will say they did overcooked the fillet(ordered medium rare, got medium) and undercooked the T-Bone(ordered medium, got medium rare). On down side pretty much everything else. The«broiled tomato» was basically a single medium sized tasteless beefsteak sliced in three with some fake Parmesan cheese(i.e. Kraft) and dried thyme sprinkled on it. The much recommended creamed spinach wasn’t creamed unless you mean«microwave some spinach leaves in some heavy cream for two minutes, serve». Last I checked salads(got the house salad) come with dressing, not syrup(I couldn’t taste anything but sugar) and if your«Caesar» dressing is creamy, doesn’t contain raw eggs, Worcestershire, and anchovies please call it something else so I don’t waste me time ordering it and have to send it back. The baked potato was edible but had the most flavorless bland sour cream I think I have ever had and ditto the butter, basically tasted like I was just eating a steamed potato. The also much talked about sweet potatoes fries were ice cold … look I want to say something good about them as I ended up taking them home and nuking them and they were pretty edible(though soggy) but when I get them at a «high-end» steak house I expect them to both be at least warm and at least mildly crispy. Lastly the service was pretty atrocious for what you are paying for. I had to routinely flag the waiter down and aggressively do so(to the point I had to shout across the damn room«hey you» and also had to get up and chase him down another time), the dude forgot my drink once, and in general was slow and inattentive and not in that inattentive slow but nice German or French snotty way but more like the overworked I hate my patron’s but need a job and you will tip me regardless because of habit and social pressure so fuck off way you get at Denny’s. I want to say I will never repeat but that is a lie because I really do want to try that damn Japanese steak(the only reason I came). but next time spending way less and treating this place as basically an overpriced Ponderosa. Going to get two steaks, no sides, two Old Fashions, and in/out thirty minutes. Would not recommend to anybody for any reason.

I wanted seafood and my boyfriend wanted steak, but … we couldn’t decide until Jenny, told us if we sat at the bar then we can order from both! My mouth dropped and my eyes lit up!!! Lol anyways, our server was really nice. It was his first day on this side of the restaurant, he used to work only the Sensai sushi side. He did a great job on customer service as well. He made sure we were doing ok and checked on us. Onto the food… I ordered the Japanese calamari salad which was amazing! The sauce they used was delicious. The California roll was really good as well, I just wish they used a bigger portion of the avocados in the roll. I asked for unagi sauce on the side and by far the best tasting unagi sauce I have ever had. And I have eaten at a lot of sushi restaurants!!! Then I ordered the petite filet 8oz which was the perfect size for me. I asked for medium well and trust me, I have also eaten a lot of steakhouses cause my boyfriend loves steaks… And DAMN! They made it perfect! It was seriously medium well, some steaks I’ve had would be too pink, too dry. Hard to get it perfect but THEYDIDIT! I was savoring every bite. It had so much flavor. It was tender, soft, melted in my mouth. I wasn’t even that hungry but I KILLEDIT! Amazing dinner to end our vacation! BTW my boyfriend ordered the filet 10oz medium and I took a few bites of it. OMG also really delicious! Oh & we came around 830 pm on a Wednesday night, not crowded at all. No reservations either, seated right away!

We dined here on Tuesday eve, our last night in Hawaii. We were staying across the street at the Hilton and ventured about and fell in love with Marriott! Since it was our last night, we wanted to go somewhere nice, so we chose DK’s. It was fabulous from the reception girl to our waiter ! The food was outstanding and our drinks were out of this world ! I had a drink with mint and hibiscus !!! YUMYUMYUM!!! You HAVE to try it! Mahalo!

Not sure why this place has four stars. I was expecting so much better based on the reviews. My partner and I are from California and have a love for wine, we were told that DK Steak House has a great selection. We were craving a glass of good Rosé and asked if we might try a splash to determine if we like the taste and we were told that«they do not offer free tastings.» We both decided to go out on a limb and try a glass… One word to describe the Rosé; awful! If you are from the Bay Area and are used to the fine dining offerings of San Francisco I would definitely not recommend DK’s. The food is very mediocre. My partner had the filet which he said was cooked fine, but lacked any kind of flavor. He also had a side of mashed potatoes that were dry as a bucket of rocks. I myself had the polenta dish; I have eaten a lot of polenta in my lifetime and this was by far the worse! Very, very gritty, I felt like I was eating sand from the beach. The service was subpar and the waiter seemed to lack any customer service skills. Overall if you are visiting Hawaii, I would not make DK Steak House part of your journey.

Had a nice 30 day aged Ribeye there with a red wine shitaki sauce. Just loved the black and blue ahi starter. Great service. Prices were up there, but not too bad for Waikiki.

One of the best steak house to go to with dry steak! If you love steak I recommend going to this restaurant. They also have the best service too everyone was friendly and nice. The steak was delicious and fabulous my friends all ordered the 15 days old dry steak and I ordered the lamb chops which was the best and the flavor was unforgettable I loved it! They also had a special on there alcohol drink. I got a lychee mix drink was sweet and strongthat’s how I like it. If I were you I would recommend this place:)

We came here tonight with some friends, for dinner! It is located in the Marriott hotel in Waikiki. We decided to valet park. As we were handed the ticket from the valet driver, he said…“as long as you get your ticket validated, it will only be $ 12 and not the regular price of $ 37″ Damn! But then again, we were in Waikiki! We found our way through the hotel and located on the third floor was our restaurant. Our server greeted us and ran us down with some specials and suggestions. Of course we started our night with appetizers and drinks. The appetizers were good but portions were small! Then we ordered dinner. It took a while for it to come and when it finally did, we kinda had a hard time enjoying the meal because it was hot and humid in there. I must admit tho, that my 15 day dry aged steak was soft like butter!!! And it was a good size! The mashed potato was meh soso. Over all, not bad!

I would like to say I love steak… Not just love steak like loveeeeee a good steak but I’m also picky when I pay good money for it. Our server was very polite and the area seemed very chill but I honestly really did not enjoy my steak . They did not deliver what they promised. I wanted medium well charred on the outside … It was med rare

This place is my go-to steakhouse! The prices are fair for the quality of the food. I ordered the wagyu starter, it was cured pieces of wagyu topped with fresh greens and seasoning. It tasted similar to beef jerky, but similar to the consistency of sashimi. The pieces are very thin. I love their petite filet, it just melts in my mouth. I haven’t tried many steakhouses here, but I prefer their filets over Ruth Chris. Also, if it’s your birthday, they have a complimentary dessert! The service was very professional with a local touch. I can’t remember or server’s name at the moment, but I remember he did a great job at explaining the different dishes, checking up on us, and had a sense of humor. The only downside was that the parking lot was«full» and we were forced to valet. Even though, I swore I saw cars exiting the structure… I know that’s not the restaurant’s fault, so I won’t deduct a point. Just remember an extra $ 20 plus tip for valet! Tips: Order steak drier than normal. I like rare steak, but for their filets, I ordered medium rare and it’s perfect!

Delicious high end steakhouse with a casual feel which I love. Because it’s Hawaii and I just want to be comfortable and wear sandals everywhere I go! Even to a fancy restaurant with fancy food! It’s been awhile since I’ve had an expensive steak and it made me say wow. This place definitely did that. This is probably the only place I would compare the ribeye to one of my favorite steak restaurants in LA(Mastros steakhouse). The 30 days dry age rib eye is seriously one of the best I’ve ever had. And I’m an extreme carnivore meat(steak) lover! Definitely a must try if you love steak!

Okay, this place is located in the Marriott Hotel. You can valet for $ 12 or self park for 3 hours free. Once you get out of the parking lot & into the hotel, Dk is on the third floor.(Hope this helps since we kind of got lost here!) We came here for a friends birthday dinner(all of us were first timers.) Our server was Todd who was very informative. He went over the whole menu for us since it was our first time here. There were 6 of us and we all ordered some steak. My boyfriend ordered the«Mahina» special which comes w/3 courses and he chose to get the 30 day aged steak which was sooooo delicious! I ordered the complete meal w/steak & crab which also was spot on. We were so full by the end but the Mahina special comes w/dessert. Our other friends got similar dishes but what I’m trying to say is that this place is no joke!!! I would come back and order the same thing over & over again! If this is your first time, definitely try the 30 day aged steak. It is soooooo good you won’t regret it. Oh &2 thumbs up for Todd for being so attentive to our party.

Terrific selection of cocktails including Moscow Mules and classic Negroni. Only California wines offered by the glass, unless you explore the«flights«page. Here you’ll find a great selection of old world reds in 6 categories. No need to buy a flight. Just order the one you want as a full glass. Extremely fair priced. Started with the Maui onion soup. It was nice. The gruyère cheese was great. The onions could have been cooked down just a bit more or sliced thinner to begin with. And the bread would be better if it was cubed, crusty, and floating on top. The whole slice was submerged making it difficult to eat and just soggy. Onion chunks were too large for my tastes. Overall satisfying soup. Bread service needs some work. Looks and tastes like it came from Safeway. $ 60 dollar steak and 6 cent bread. They can do better. Local roasted beets. Fantastic. Paired with maui goat cheese. Too bad they got cold while I waited for my filet to be re-fired. Waiter was kind enough to replace them with fresh when the over cooked steak was remedied. 8oz filet. Was excellent. Ordered med rare and it came out past medium. That’s bound to happen from time to time. I will say that they recovered quickly and got a new filet out along with a new side. Very friendly staff and knowledgeable servers. Overall I would pick this place over Mortons EVERYTIME. that’s not to say there isn’t opportunity for improvement. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will absolutely return.

Flavor and amazing portions, Dave Kodama knows how to make locals and visitors happy. I’ve heard so much about D. K’s so I had to take my boyfriend there for our anniversary. Located on the third floor of the Marriott Waikiki, it was the perfect place to have dinner and view of the sunset. Why have a tiny candle lighting your dinner when you can have tiki torches? One word to describe the service: amazing. From the moment of making the reservation to leaving the restaurant, it was the best. Our waitress Brittany was one of the best I ever had. You could see the passion she had for the restaurant in way she described Dave Kodama’s cooking style and the food. Brittany was knowledgeable about each menu item and made great recommendations. We probably would’ve ordered way too much food without her help. Way too much food you wonder? What do locals like? Huge portion sizes. That’s exactly what happened. «Is this rib eye for a t-Rex?» I had to ask. The 22 oz ribeye we both got were huge! It was juicy, flavorful and cooked perfectly to my liking. The ribeye plus the crispy potato croquette and seared mushrooms was a lot of food. Don’t be cheap, be sure to also try the blue crab dip as an appetizer. The lumps of crab and cheesy goodness made it off the wall delicious. Whether it’s for an anniversary, birthday or celebratory dinner, I definitely recommend DK’s Steakhouse!

We came here on a recommendation from a friend who believes this is the best steakhouse on the island and it did not disappoint! We didn’t have a reservation so ended up sitting at the bar. If you’re at the bar you can also order from the sushi place next door which was pretty tempting but… steak. I went with the petite filet and the asparagus Milanese. Delicious AND nutritious, right? I loved the truffle oil, egg, and bread crumbs on the asparagus so much I was dipping bites of my steak in it(not that it needed any extra flavor). I had a few bites of the Mac and Cheese and that was just a dream… I had to close my eyes and have a moment. I’d recommend calling ahead for a recommendation or coming a little earlier to check out their happy hour. I forgot to take a picture so I don’t recall the times or specials, I just mentally noted that it would be wise to give it a whirl.
