It’s a little park on the corner of a busy intersection. There’s not much other than a few benches surrounded by a few boulders. Oh, there’s also some grassy area and trees for some shading. Not a terribly impressive place, but I do appreciate the city keeping green spaces alive. I guess it would be a cute little park for people in the neighborhood to come and sit and eat and maybe read. While I’ve not yet done any of that yet, I’m unsure about how distracting the surrounding traffic would be? However, I do like that it is nature in the city and I try to manage a breeze through when I ride by on my bike. Maybe one of these days I’ll stop and smell the non-existent roses in this little patch of green on the map.

The Frank C. Judd Park is on the corner of McCully and Kapiolani. It’s interesting that this is named a park, as it is humble in size. You would think I would give it only 1 star, but I am appreciative of this tiny patch of green, as it would be so easy to convert it into another self-storage facility, parking lot, or two-story apartment building. There are two green benches along a short meandering pathway in the middle of the park. The bus stop in front of the park is a popular one with those living in the area and at night it serves as a homeless shelter(So think twice before you sit on the bus bench or the other green benches for that matter!) Once a year, I think usually in May, the yellow flowers on all the trees in the park are in full bloom for about 3 days, and it is just GORGEOUS if you have the chance to catch a glimpse of it. So yes, 2 stars for this breath of semi-fresh air in McCully.
