Not so local We had dinner here at GB located at the Aloha Tower Marketplace in Honolulu. While in Hawaii my preference would really be to dine in a local restaurant that we lack in the mainland but my sisters-in-law treated me to dinner here and turned out quite a nice experience. We dined outside with a seating close to the river so we had some waterfront views. I had the 7-oz Cab Sirloin Steak Frites w/garlic fries. Delicious! The beef was tender and tasty. Topped that with their legendary garlic fries and I was one happy camper! The steak was topped with a classic chef sauce(mushroom beer, red wine, Gorgonzola garlic or béarnaise). No leftovers here! There were no live music during our dining experience perhaps because it was around 9:00p when we had our dinner. But while enjoying our meals a cruise boat sailed on the waterfront. The Star of Honolulu Dinner Cruise still operates out of the docks near the bars. Our server was great! She was friendly and attentive to our table… great dining experience at this only GB in Honolulu. Trivia: There are only four Gordon Biersch locations in California and one of them is in Roseville(inside the Galleria)!!! The other three GB’s are in San Diego, Burbank, and San Jose.

Intriguing schnitzel. Thought I knew what I ordered but was completely surprised when it showed up. It had capers on it??? Didn’t know they went together. It was fantastic. I’ve got to realign my ordering strategy based on this visit. I was hooked at the first bite.

Ah, walking down Aloha tower, searching for a good place to eat dinner, we finally saw this place sitting right on the water. Too bad that it was already dark. It would have been nice if it was still daylight so we can enjoy the ocean view where all the big ships go in and out the pier. As well as pleasure and tug boats. The ambiance was pretty good. Quiet at most time. I think our table was a little loud. There were 4 adults and two children with us. We were seated right away and ordered our food. Pleasantly enough, the food we ordered was pretty good. Perfect to my taste. I am well pleased that even the price of the food was not bad at all. I wish there was a live band playing so we can enjoy more. I guess after holidays, everything goes quiet at the most part. Over all satisfaction was excellent.

Dined here a couple times before, before I had a Unilocal account. What I do remember is enjoying my food while listening to feel-good live music. The service is nothing to brag about but nothing to complain about either. Recently however, we decided to do take out and ordered three dishes: 1) bratwurst sausage in pretzel buns 2) mushroom burger 3) beer battered fish The bratwurst sausage in pretzel buns looked promisingly but fell short in taste. The sausage wasn’t flavorful, and I would have gladly replaced those pretzel buns with regular hotdog buns. The best tasting thing about it was the mustard sauce. The mushroom burger wasn’t bad but could have used more mushrooms and perhaps more cheese as well. The beer battered fish, which was the last thing we got our hands on, happened to be the star of the show. So glad we saved the best for last. What I really liked about the fish was how there was a whole lot of fish and a very thin layer of batter. The fish was moist and good with or without the tartar sauce. The cold slaw that came with the fish was also very good.

I came here for lunch with some co-workers and I have to say I’m pretty pleased with what was there. For the burgers, the gastro pub burger was quite popular; I didn’t have it, but several people at my table did, all of whom were pleased with it. It is the choice of burgers. Personally, I had the avocado chicken sandwich, which I enjoyed, because it was fairly light and still tasty. The garlic fries are a good choice if you don’t have a date later. The service seemed spotty. But when you have a table of over 8, that seems to be the way. It took a painfully long time to get drinks refilled, even just water much less a strawberry lemonade. A number of us at the table ordered their desserts, all of which were very well prepared if you have room for them. This place is good for groups, a lunch for two, or an office party with reservations.

New Octoberfest menu here at Gordon Biersch. Garlic fries was thick and garlicky. A nice treat after the 8-mile run today The signature sausage plate was very filling. I like the two out of the three sausages. Not sure which ones I liked. The 3 fried mash potatoes was good with cheese inside. Very dense German food. Go hungry, and come out on a stretcher.
