My grandfather is a longtime patient who consistently raves about his ability to hear with his hearing aid from Dr. Tamashiro. He’s always thrilled to talk story with me now about his experience at Dr. Tamashiro’s office because of the friendly and welcoming staff. My grandfather also exclaims how personable, patient, and honest Dr. Tamashiro is when meeting with my grandfather. Everything that Dr. Tamashiro has said he would do for my grandfather has been accurate and forthright. My family and I are very grateful to Dr. Tamashiro and his staff at Hearing Center of Hawaii for giving my grandfather a high quality of life thus increasing our ability to make countless more memories with him. I referred my mother to go see Dr. Tamashiro to get her hearing checked and possibly fitted with a hearing aid. After my mother’s initial appointment, she told me how kind and caring Dr. Tamashiro and his staff were. She looks forward to her appointments with Dr. Tamashiro and is continuing to use her hearing aid well, which has truly helped her hear better. My mother also shared that Dr. Tamashiro is always more than willing to answer questions and genuinely cares about his patients. She has referred many of her family and friends to Hearing Center of Hawaii and is grateful for Dr. Tamashiro helping her hear better to improve her quality of life. Dr. Tamashiro has a non-​refundable $ 300 «deposit» also referred to as «restocking fee.»
During the process of trying eating aids, I told him I was concerned about the $ 300 non-​refundable fee that I could not afford to lose. He said «Oh, I don’t want you to worry about the $ 300, I would never base my character on $ 300, don’t worry about that.» I said, thank you and felt better naturally assuming he meant he would refund it if he couldn’t help me with a new hearing aid.
After a lengthy period of trying hearing aids, sometimes due to him ordering a style other than what he said he would order, he was not able to help me obtain the goal of hearing better. I returned the hearing aids and expected to receive my $ 300 deposit back. I did not receive it and my letter I mailed to him reminding him of our conversation and requesting the $ 300 be returned he him a letter was unanswered.
I talked to him on the phone and he said he didn’t say that and I would have to talk to the accounting girl in the office but it’s a non-​refundable charge. Asked him why he led me to believe it would be returned and he said he never said that. I definitely have no respect and a complete lack of trust for an untruthful person.
