Dr. Sato and Dr. Wong are talented and compassionate dentists in Hawaii. Having more than 10 years of experience, they are reliable and best source you could receive for dental care. They are located just above Hawaii Opera Plaza on S. Baretania st. and parking is in front of the building, so you don’t need to park elsewhere. When you enter their office on third floor, front office greet you with warm welcome smile. Both doctors are very conservative on approaching dental problem and try their best to save your money and natural tooth structure. On my first visit to their office, they explain what my problem is and ways to maintain healthy enamel and gingiva. I highly recommend to folks that are apprehensive about dental care or the first timer.

I was a faithful patient of Dr. Sato for longer than 15+years. I moved to the mainland in 2014. My molar started to bother me. I already had a root canal done by Dr. Sato’s colleague at Endodontic Associates in Pearlridge about 5 years ago. Please believe me when I say that Dr. Sato takes full mouth x-rays every year. Dr. Sato should have and must have seen the shoddy work done by his colleague. Did he inform me that the tooth was not completely treated? NO. Methinks he hid the fact that it was done by a lazy and uncaring endodontist. My current dentist Dr. Brian, on the mainland, showed me x-rays of 3 teeth that should have had complete root canals treated under Dr. Sato’s care. All 3 were partially done, 2 showed signs of infection. Now, again, did Dr. Sato mention this to me? NO. My current endodontist Dr. Fife informed me that(1) Always look at the before and after x-rays after a root canal(2) Make sure that the roots are treated from the top of the tooth to the very bottom(3) There is no excuse for any doctor to say that a root could not be located or thoroughly treated due to any«mumble-jumble» reason.(4) Cameras inserted inside of the tooth make it possible to see or locate all roots. Check if the dentist you are referred to has the latest equipment so you and your teeth are not re-cycled in 3+years when the partially treated or untreated root starts an infection. My before and after x-rays were shown to me by Dr. Fife. Roots were completely treated. Do you know how much of my money Dr. Sato wasted? Think about it… surgery plus a new cap or crown, then surgery again and a new cap or crown. Don’t let Dr. Sato’s fake compassion get the best of you. Of course they will treat you nicely because you keep a roof over his head and food on his table. If he had to choose between you and his colleague, he has proven to choose his colleague. After all most of us tend to believe any excuse a doctor tells us, since they must know better. Just be aware of the ‘old boys” network… where none will tattle on another. Do not be gullible like me. Please, just be aware that not all truths are disclosed to you.

I have been to many dentists in the past, but after going to see Dr. Sato 10 years ago, I have continued to see him. He is very honest, takes the time to explain dental problems I have, and does procedures, taking his time, doing everything very patiently and with great care. He takes the time to explain preventative dental care as well. He would rather have me protect my teeth even though it may mean loss of revenue for him. Such great concern for his patients! I’ll never change dentists, ever again!

Have been going for years and very happy with the care Dr. Sato has given. He tells it like it is, and doesn’t try to upsell you on different procedures which is really reassuring. I saw another dentist before who told me I needed FOUR crowns which was ridiculous, so I went and got a second opinion with Dr. Sato. He showed me my Xrays and told me what I really needed. It was so reassuring to have someone I trusted with my teeth and care and have been going for years since!

This office is one floor below my office in the Hawaii Opera Plaza building so it was a no brainer to choose this dentist, but what finally made me decided to actually book my appointment was that two of my coworkers had gone to him and had nothing but wonderful things to say about Dr Sato. So I booked my appointment and have continued to see him regularly as my dentist. Dr Sato is very efficient, friendly, and gentle. I am able to get most of my work done on my lunch break and I don’t get nervous or scared when coming here. That ease of mind really does help in the long run to make sure I keep up with my dental checks and schedule an appointment when the random holiday cookie pops out a filling. The front desk staff are super friendly and will work with you in understanding what your insurance will cover and what you will be paying out of pocket. Overall this has been one of the best experiences I have had with a dentist. I would recommend anyone to him.
