Honolulu Sandwich Station

The Honolulu Sandwich Station is a food stand just outside of the Sam’s Club doors. The menu is limited, with only 4 sandwiches, but for me it’s enough of a selection for an after-Sam’s-Club-shopping-sesh snack. (Because of the location, I’d probably only eat here after Sam’s Club shopping.)
THE PULLED PORK SANDWICH — $ 5
Slow-​roasted pulled pork in a mild BBQ sauce, topped with dill pickle slices and more BBQ sauce. Jalapeños are added upon request.
THE CHEESE & STEAK SANDWICH — $ 6
This is exactly as it sounds – a cheese and steak sandwich. Sliced grilled steak topped with cheese and Secret Garlic Sauce, on a French roll. BBQ sauce and jalapeños may be added upon request.
We would probably not order this one again. Not that it was bad or anything… It was pretty good/​average I guess. Maybe it’s because we had this with the BBQ sauce (?) and there was a little too much going on? Not sure. But for $ 6, it’s worth a try.
THE NEW YORKER HOT PASTRAMI SANDWICH — $ 7
More of a traditionally put-​together pastrami sandwich with sauerkraut and yellow mustard on a French roll. I love the simple pastrami-​mustard combo. Throw in some sauerkraut, and it’s a match made in Heaven IMO. The New Yorker is a great find. However, this pastrami isn’t the melt-​in-​your-​mouth fatty cuts you’d find in NY or Chicago; it’s more like glorified corned beef, but still good. Recommended.
THE WEST COAST HOT PASTRAMI SANDWICH — $ 7
Warm and tender pastrami served on a French roll, topped with cheese, Secret Garlic Sauce, jalapeños, and BBQ sauce. This West Coast Pastrami Sandwich has a lot going on. I feel like the sauces kind of take away from the expected salt-​and-​peppery flavors that the pastrami is known for. I’d order this again, but without the BBQ and with less garlic sauce. Jalapeños are a must. ;)
Honolulu Sandwich Station is convenient. The sandwiches are filling and not skimpy at all. I really feel like I’m getting my $-worth! I’m torn between 3 and 4 Unilocal stars, so I’m going with 3.5. (To me, HSS is more than the Unilocal 3-​star rating «A-​OK,» but I can’t say that i’m a devout fan. However, I will be buying more sandwiches after shopping at Sam’s! New Yorker, come to Mama! (I’ll be sure to update after I try The Pulled Pork Sandwich.)
