Reading Unilocal reviews has informed me that it’s part of the Hilo Hattie corporation which I would have never know since it’s never clearly stated at the store. It’s funny that a store that is owned by corporation that bears a name of my blood relative would treat me the way they have. Not ironic, but funny in a sad way. I was given a gift by a relative of clothing that I greatly disliked. I was with the gift giver, had the receipt and the tags were still attached to the clothing so I assumed it would be run of the mill get your money back or a gift card. I wanted the money which was my right but the store denied it since the credit card that was used charges THEM a fee if I returned any items. So I have been forced for over a year to try to spend a $ 100 gift card at a store with items I dislike or puzzle me. It has taken several trips in order to decide for an hour what I would break down and get while knowing I have x amount to still use up. Never coming back. I will say it is an attractive spacious store that is comfortable to maneuver. A more sophisticated island look for those who are into that type of style. For those who aren’t you are f***ed if you have a gift card. More of a store for those who are over the age of 30 or married.

It’s a small souvenir shop, but they have a lot of the normal stuff. Like a mini Hilo Hattie! Of course, I can’t in good conscience recommend spending tourist dollars in shops like these, but if you insist upon it, shops like these are certainly a lesser evil than the International Marketplace.

As if I didn’t get enough of Hilo Hattie(the Nimitz flagship and Ala Moana stores), I came to this sister store. I noticed the Hilo Hattie name in small letters underneath the name of the store– that’s what aroused my curiosity. Can be best described as the very elegant, classy side of the Hilo Hattie brand. It’s a spacious store. It does not have a touristy or gawdy feel to it at all. The sales people are dressed very nicely as well, matching the overall feel of the store. I recognized some of the prints and styles from the other stores– in fact my husband bought me one of the dresses displayed on one of the racks(at the Nimitz store)! I went to the sale rack and found a super cute tank top for $ 9.99. This was one of the prints that was familiar to me, but it was a different style– could be worn with jeans, a skirt, black pants, or sexy shorts, very versatile. As soon as you have something in your hand, you are asked if you would like a fitting room. The sales lady helping me asked me for my size and kept bringing me things to try on(my husband asked me if she was being pushy) but she was ‘eagerly helpful.’ Lots of people work here, even outnumbered the customers at one point. Will definitely stop by again, on our next annual trip to the island.

One word: STUNNING! Wow, what a great addition to Ala Moana Center. The store has only been opened for five days when we went to check it out. Island Edge is the 1st of many stores that Hilo Hattie is planning on opening. They carry higher-priced Hawaii-themed gift items and aloha shirts. The store’s decoration was well thought out and had a great sense of style to it. It’s across from Victoria’s Secrets and near Long’s and Sears. Great job guys!
