Kai-Photo Hawaii

As our family has grown, we decided it was time for another family portrait. We hired Kai-​Photo to take our family photos at Magic Island. Aaron was our photographer that day. He was very friendly and made everyone feel at ease. He worked well with my two young nieces, where he was able to capture their smiles perfectly for the camera. He was very accommodating and patient as there were 11 of us to move to different areas of the park and captured different combinations of us. Overall everyone had a great time and the photos came out amazing! I was also very impress with how quickly the finished photos were turned around. I highly recommend Kai-​Photo!

We had our wedding this past November (1 month ago). When we first started planning our wedding one of the most important things people told us to do is book your photographer! Your pictures will catch all the moments you couldn’t see during your wedding, and relive the moments you want to cherish forever!
3 of my girlfriends used Kai-​photos for their weddings, so I knew he was awesome at what he does! But don’t get me wrong I also did my research and kept and open mind. At the bridal expos I checked out many other photographers, and after going through so many different books of photos from each photographer my attention kept getting drawn to Kai-​photos.
I remembered looking at all the shots that Kyler took in his photo books, and they were just so eye catching and breathtaking. The quality of his photos and the way he took the pictures were just more personalized to each wedding couple and fun! My fiancé and I didn’t want traditional serious photos we wanted photos that were elegant, but would also catch the fun memorable moments with our friends and family. And Kyler did not disappoint us.
Kyler & Grace were so efficient and very reliable. They always responded back to my emails of many questions that very day or the next day. Their quick reply was one of the things I really loved, since planning a wedding alone and waiting to hear back from venders can be stressful. Kyler took that stress away from me, and made sure I didn’t have to worry about a thing.
Kyler also recommended things that would help make our special day run even smoother. And the best thing was he made sure to try and accommodate our special poses that we wanted to do for our bride & groom, and bridal party wedding pictures.
Over all Kyler and his right hand man were so good and efficient on my wedding day. His Candid shots are his speciality he can catch the best moments at the right time. And the best part of Kai-​photos I got to review and look at my wedding pictures so quickly. I received them in less than 2 months!
I would recommend Kai-​photos to anyone who wants a photographer who is efficient, reliable, and delivers breathtaking photos that makes you want to relive every moment over again!

The BEST pictures for our wedding! Thank you so much for these wonderful memories… I don’t know how to explain it: Kai Photo team of 2 photographers guided us but it’s totally natural and really captured «us»…they knew just where to be at every moment but were totally invisible at the same time. I was referred to Kai Photo by the wedding coordinator at our church St. Augustine By the Sea. I was told that Kyler had photographed amazing photos at the church and that he was very experienced and talented. I knew we would be well taken care of by Kyler!
When I contacted Kai Photo initially to inquire about their services, they responded back shortly after. They were really good with emailing and I would oftentimes get responses from them within minutes of my messages. And trust me, when you’re planning a wedding and you have a gazillion things on your mind that you need to take care of, it is a freaking blessing when your vendors respond back to you promptly, haha. Also, their prices were very reasonably priced for what they offer, so I was very happy with that.
When I met Kyler on wedding day, he was very relaxed and chill. He looked like someone that I could totally get along with so I knew it was going to be a good day! He was also super prompt and tried to cue us if we needed to be somewhere or move to the next location, per our timeline. I was actually very surprised that even though we were busy throughout the entire day taking pictures and so forth, we still had plenty of time to relax and we were actually running ahead of schedule for several of the events! Now when does that ever happen during a wedding?!! =)
Anyway, throughout the day, Kyler and his assistant were super professional and efficient, taking pictures any chance they got. They didn’t seem to waste any time. Even when we had downtime they were taking candid shots of our guests, etc, which I really appreciated because I feel like during the wedding everything happens so fast and I don’t get to see all that’s happening.
Another thing that impressed me about Kyler and his assistant is that they were well prepared. When my maid of honor was buttoning up my dress in the back, he asked if we had a crochet needle and i was like, «huh? Why the hell would I have that?» and he said, «no worries, I’ve got one here.» So he showed us how to use it and this made the process sooo much faster. I’m thankful for that crochet needle b/​c it probably saved us a good 5 minutes while trying to put on my dress, haha. Also, later, when we were taking pictures outside by the beach, the wind was blowing my hair all sorts of ways and his assistant kept pulling out different combs from his camera bag to help fix my hair, haha. I really appreciated that too!
When the wedding was over and done with, I didn’t expect to get pictures for quite some time, since I’ve heard horror stories of people waiting several months to receive their photos! Kyler sent me some sneak peek photos the day after, and reassured me that the team was working hard on getting the rest of them back to me ASAP. And guess what? Less than 1.5 months later, we received all of the pics!
I was pleasantly surprised with all of the amazing shots that they got! You don’t realize how much that you miss when the day is going by so fast. So it was really great to go through all the photos and feel like you’re reliving the wedding, and also seeing parts of the wedding that you had no idea were going on, such as certain guests getting down on the dance floor and finding out which guests were racking up your bar tab! =) I also thought that they did an outstanding job capturing all the important parts of the wedding, during the ceremony and especially during the reception.
The only thing that I was a bit sad about is that I wish we got better bride/​groom photos while we took pictures out at the beach. Our venue was Waialae Country Club so we took our pictures in the afternoon right by the water. However, because of the location and time of day, the sun was glaring in our eyes so in most of the pictures my husband’s eyes are super small and squinty. I understand that this is totally not the photographer’s fault, but I kind of wish we could’ve moved to another location or had taken the pictures from a different angle, etc. Oh well, not the end of the world… the pictures still turned out great so I really can’t complain!
Anyway, all in all we had a wonderful experience with Kai Photo! They were so super professional, easy-​going, and they produce excellent results in a timely manner! I would sooo recommend them to anyone looking for photography services here on Oahu!

Working with Kyler and Grace was not only amazing, but stress-​free! I had contacted several photographers, and Kai Photo was THE ONLY one that got back to me within a week. Not to set anyone’s expectations too high, but Grace and Kyler always answered any questions within 24 hours!
Being a bride, I was uncertain about the schedule of events for our wedding. One thing I really wanted was sunset photos and our venue wasn’t near a beach. So in order to capture these photos, they told us we would have to leave the reception for about an hour. I kept changing my mind on either leaving the event or booking them for another hour the next day and Grace was very patient with me. I seriously went back and forth with them about three times and not once did I sense a bit of annoyance from them. In the end, I decided to go with the latter and am so happy that I did! Thank you, Kai Photo, for your patience!!!
I only booked the wedding photo session with Kyler and his team (we did engagement pictures in SF with a friend) and even prior to the day of, Kyler and Grace offered us some great tips to ensure we captured every moment of our wedding day. On the day of, Kyler texted us to give us peace of mind that him and his assistant would be there. Both were very friendly and made us and our wedding party feel comfortable. They even offered poses for us and asked if we had any ideas. During the reception, I didn’t even notice them for a while, which was awesome!
As mentioned before, I wanted sunset photos but didn’t want to leave the wedding for an hour, so we met up with Kyler the next day. He even let us bring some props! That session was also very relaxing and fun!
We received the pictures about a month after our wedding and we’re so happy with them! We especially loved all the candid photos as it captured the highlights of our wedding the most. If you’re planning a wedding anytime soon, go with Kai photo! You won’t regret it!!!

Kai-​Photo is the best. Planning from another time zone was no problem with Kyler and Grace. They are super responsive and have everything down to a science. For example, the family picture list was something they requested a month before the wedding with a suggested list. It was perfect, because I was able to talk to my parents and future in-​laws and have a set idea of what we wanted.
Kyler and Hiko kept us on time and captured everything we requested. We LOVE how our pictures turned out and never had to worry about telling people what to do because Kyler did that for us in the most professional way possible.
I would highly recommend Kai-​Photo for any of your photography needs!

Kai-​Photo was awesome with everything they did — Kyler and Grace were very responsive, Kyler and his 2^nd shooter were so easy and fun to work with, and our pictures came out great. As another review said, Kyler is so down to earth and easy-​going. We had our ceremony at St. Augustine by the Sea, which has beautiful stain glass but is a little dark. That was no problem for Kyler, and he really captured the beauty of the church so well. Also, I warned Kyler ahead of time that my now-​husband and I are super awkward in serious photos because we feel so silly, but our pictures came out great anyways! Thank you, Kai-​Photo!

Our family photo experience at the beach was great. Our photographer, Aaron, did a wonderful job at making us comfortable and capturing the beauty of Hawaii in the background. This is a vacation we will never forget, especially due to our beautiful family portraits.

His extensive knowledge and experience of weddings and photography saved the day in helping my husband and I to have amazing photos that really captured the essence of our special day. Simply awesome. Kyler was fun to work with and did an amazing job. We only had 90 minutes of coverage as part of our destination package, but he got everything we wanted and much more thanks to his wonderful suggestions. We received preview photos within a week of our wedding, which was such a pleasant surprise. We looked through many photographers for our destination wedding and chose Kai because we liked the quality of their work. We are so glad we chose them!

Post wedding review:
It was really a no brainer when we were deciding who to go with for our wedding photos. Kyler is very down to earth so my husband and I felt so comfortable with him.
The day of the wedding it was Kyler and one of his associates. I was stunned at how many awesome pictures they got with just the two of them! They seemed so calm and we’re never in the way of anything, it’s almost as if they weren’t even there! But when we got our pictures, it was nothing short of perfection.
They were able to capture every moment and every emotion of our wedding and reception in their photos. I look at the pictures now and I feel like it was just yesterday that we had our wedding!
For our wedding party pictures, Kyler made sure we were having fun in all the shots – we even took a jumping picture that came out PERFECT on the first shot! The shots were not all posed and uncomfortable type pictures… He caught a bunch of us while we were just talking story and enjoying being newlyweds, so even the «candids» came out nice! (And I NEVER look good in candids!)
I would recommend Kai-​Photo to evvveryone! In fact, one of my bridesmaids loved him so much she booked them for her wedding too

I just recently reviewed my wedding photos from Kai Photography and I could not be happier with the results. Kyler was the friendliest and thoroughly patient at getting my family to focus.
I loved that he was unobtrusive and that none of my shots felt overly processed or staged. I can’t wait to order more prints and a few books from them.

Kai-​Photo was so easy to work with. Kyler gave us amazing photos that we could not be more happy with. He was there early and so easy to work with. He knew what he was shooting and how we wanted the photos to come out. We got over 150 amazing pictures and for having only Kyler there during our casual beach ceremony he really got pictures from every angle. The best thing was that we didn’t even notice him during the whole thing. :-)
Grace was so responsive to all my questions and emails and just made the whole set up so stress free which was a huge relief planning the whole thing from San Diego, CA.
Our pictures came quickly and again, we could not be more happy with the results! If you want some gorgeous photos and a stress free experience then this is the company for you!

Kai photo was great. I don’t remember exact name of my photographers but I had 3 photographers and they were all very friendly and nice to work with. On my wedding day, it was raining alot and very gloomy so I was worried how my picture will turn out but it came out perfectly! My wedding was on weekday so we received 10% discount. I think their value is reasonable compare to other photographers in Hawaii. I gave 4 stars because I think 4 weeks is bit too long to receive final product. (we didn’t order photo album. Just online release and CD)
I’m not sure if this is normal duration in Hawaii though. Other then that, everything was great.

Wow… to the person who gave that one star review, I believe you definitely got the wrong photographer. My husband and I have worked with Kyler 3x over the past 4 ½ years — our engagement session, wedding and just had our family portrait done with our daughter last November and we have never been disappointed.
Kyler is EXTREMELY talented! If you like the boring-​studio-​sit down-​and-​smile kind of photographs then he isn’t for you. He captures great natural pictures with amazing beautiful back grounds. We’re in Hawaii so why not take advantage of all that? I love how he captured us laughing and interacting with one another, none of that boring posing stuff. It makes it a lot more fun and you can see the smiles in the photos are genuine and real which makes it more beautiful. Its like straight out of a magazine. Kyler gave us photos that I never expected to receive and I say that in a good way.
I would book way in advanced so no one else steals them away from you We are definitely going to call Kyler to do another family photo session. Maybe one for the holidays during the end of the year!

This review is long over due, as I had meant to write this review a while ago.
My wife and I were married just over a year ago and had our photography services done through Kai Photo.
As the husband-​to-​be, I let my wife do all the decision-​making with regards to these matters. After interviewing a TON of services and photographers she had no doubt she wanted to use Kai Photo.
First of all, Kyler & Grace are so friendly and professional. They were never «in the way» as some photographers are. They go with the flow of things, and we trusted they would get the photos we like.
They did not disappoint! Our pictures came out PERFECT. They were truly something to see. Everyone we’ve sent pictures to loves them.
I highly recommend Kai Photo. In fact, we loved them so much, we’re just itching for them to take additional photos for any event!

Pictures to last more than a lifetime!
I have been in love with Kai’s photos for a long time. I love their use of different lenses and their dedication and love of capturing those precious moments in life.
My now husband and I had a meeting with Kyler a couple years ago and really liked how down to earth he was. We didn’t have to shop around because we knew that his company was the one.
On our wedding day, Kyler was very creative in all the pictures that he took and even took some of our stupid/​fun suggestions without judgment! My husband and I love jumping pictures so Kyler was more than happy to stand in the hot sun with us until we got them right! What a trooper!
Their customer service is also amazing. Grace responds to emails very quickly and is there is fix any problem or answer any question you have. Probably one of the best companies I dealt with during my wedding!
My husband and I were leaving for our honeymoon soon after the wedding so I emailed Grace to tell her that they could take their time with the photos because we would be out of the country for a while. She rushed the pictures and we got them BEFORE we left for the honeymoon so we could check them all out! That really meant a lot to us.
There are a lot of photographers you could pic for your engagement/​wedding/​special occasion, but really, you have to look no further than Kai-​Photo.

Going to the wedding expo proved to be helpful. I looked at Kai Photos albums and absolutely loved their style.
We got to work with Kyler. His professionalism and talent is top notch. I have no problem recommending Kai Photo to everyone I know.
From the first meeting we had at the Wedding Café, I knew it was going to be fun to work with him. We enjoyed coming up with all the different poses we wanted to do.
Our pictures came out beautiful!!! He was so patient on our wedding day, helping to organize the chaos I call our family, as well as all the bridal party pics. We managed to snag him for an extra half hour and he definitely made it worth our while! He captured the essence of that day.
Kai Photo definitely gets an A+ in our books… :)
