Was referred to Dr. Kimata by my internist, and have had 3 office visits since then. His office staff is ok, one is a male, not very personable, and another female, very personable. Dr. Kimata is not the most personable, you will have to actively solicit interaction and ask questions as he does not really volunteer all information. Office visits are a bit hard to get, and you may have to wait a couple of weeks for an opening. His wait time is about 10 — 15 minutes with an appointment, but his office is comfortable and pleasant.

I have Multiple Sclerosis and have been struggling to find a specialist since moving here. My PCP referred me to several who were awful, one of whom after a few minutes of simply talking to me, not reviewing MRI’s or records, announced that I do not have MS, that I come from back east so it could be anything. Nice, especially since I’ve had it for about 20 years, and finally had to go on SSDI for it(their neurologist agreed with my MS specialist). Dr. Kimata was the 3rd neuro I was sent to here. He is nice, and so is his staff. I brought my MRI films with me, and he did look them over. But he said he needed my records before he could«diagnose» me with MS. I found that particularly strange since this is NOT a new illness, and I’ve been being actively treated for the past 10 years give or take. So supposedly they sent for my records from the MS specialist back east. I went back east for the holidays and picked up my records because Dr. Kimata’s office still did not have them. Knowing how efficient the other office is, I can only assume that for some reason Dr. Kimata’s staff did not follow thru on the record request. As one patient said, not the most efficient place. To me that is important. And doing a patient history, reviewing the MRI films, and doing a neuro exam, Dr. Kimata SHOULD have been able to determine that I do in fact have MS. So for those two reasons, I am only giving three stars. But if I had to base it solely on a comparison between Dr. Kimata and the other two neurologists I saw, I would give him a 5.

Very knowledgable doc. Supposed to be one of the best neurologists in the state.
