I truly love handcrafted chocolates and candy made with local ingredients, It definitely makes a difference. We were wandering around and found this little chocolate shop, of course we walked in. I purchased the milk chocolate kona bar which I ate before the end of our vacation. My daughter bought a cute box of the Chocolate & Coconut caramels, which she brought home. Obviously she has more control than I. Stop by, it’s a pleasant find :)

Rich and creamy chocolate – love the milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and the dark chocolate cappuccino bars!

What a nice surprise to find Hawaiian grown single origin chocolate! Packaging is beautiful too. Chocolate tastes good and the milk chocolate has won an award. Hawaiian Crown Plantation store also has Hawaiian single origin chocolate although the packaging is not as nice, didn’t taste it though.

Located on the ground level(behind the Apple Store) of the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center in Waikiki, I visited Malie Kai Chocolate’s new retail store the day after their grand opening. I first learned about Malie Kai Chocolates through the Kapiolani Community College farmers market where they can be found right next to Hawaiian Happy Cakes. What I like about their chocolates is that they are made with North Shore grown cacao and fine local ingredients to produce a high quality chocolate bar like no other. They have available a variety of specialty bars including Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Kona Coffee Espresso(Dark), Kona Coffee Cappuccino(Milk), Dark Milk Chocolate, Dark with Hawaiian Cocoa Nibs and Milk Chocolate with Hawaiian Cocoa Nibs. Yum! They offered me a sampling of their newest flavor, White Chocolate with Tangerine. The rich and creamy white chocolate is paired so well with the tangy and citrus tangerine. OMG! Loved it!

when i am in hawaii, one of my souvenir goals is to buy more malie kai chocolate espresso bars. i eat them VERYVERYSLOWLY so that my one bar of 1.5 oz lasts a longer time. they are available on every island since various stores sell them. we bought all of the espresso bars we could find. haha! since the first time we have tried malie kai chocolates, we have seen other fine chocolate companies with unique flavors too. but they don’t taste as good as malie kai. we love the espresso bar for their dark chocolate with crunchy kona coffee bits. Mmm… =D
