Maria’s Alteration Shop

I’ve tried calling several times and leaving messages and never have been able to reach them. So today I thought I would go look for the shop. I parked in a pay parking lot and walked around back and forth looking for the place, but couldn’t find it. I was even using Unilocal map feature! I asked a nearby security guard and he said he thinks this place may have closed down permanently. Anyways I wasted time and money looking for it so I recommend going elsewhere. I’ll probably go back to my old place on Campbell St.

Kimiko is a godsend. I had three work dresses that Aloha Alterations on Alakea Street told me would cost $ 135 to hem! I thought that was a bit high, so I shopped around and saw the stellar reviews for this place.
Kimiko hemmed each of my dresses for less than $ 20, and some of the dresses were thick fabric and had linings. The cost of all of my dresses together was only 53 dollars, less than the cost of hemming one dress at Aloha Alterations. Can you believe that!?!
My dresses were hemmed in less than a week, and they were perfect. I was so ecstatic that I tipped her, and it was still cheaper than one dress at Aloha Alterations.
I will definitely be back in the future.

Kimiko, the owner of Maria’s Alteration Shop is an excellent seamstress and her prices are great. I’ve had dresses hemmed, straps shortened for long flowy dresses and most recently, the arm length shortened on a fully lined trench coat that I bought at Waikele outlets. Her work is impeccable and turn around is usually within one week. She is a super sweet lady too. Her shop is snuggled on the 3^rd floor of a tiny building with an old elevator. Super convenient location for downtown financial area employees.

Needed a place to do some alterations and decided to check this place out cause of the reviews. Since I wasn’t too familiar with downtown it took me a while to find this place. Thanks to a fellow Unilocaler who posted a pic of the outside, if not for the pics I would have been wandering around still. It’s a cute shop located on the third floor of the building. The owner, Kimiko was very sweet. She asked me what i needed done and quickly went to measuring. I had 5 pairs of dress pants that needed to be hemmed shorter. She patiently waited while I put each one on and then went to pin them. I didnt bring a pair of sandals that i wanted the length to be adjusted to but she was prepared and had three pairs of sandals waiting in the front in all different heights, so that definitly helped with getting the right length. Once we were done with all of that she quoted me a price and when my alterations would be ready. (One week) Before i headed down i just called her to confirm if they were ready to pick-​up because parking in downtown sucks.
Everything looked great and she even spotted an open seam on the side of one of my pants and quickly fixed it up. She also insisted i come back if there was anything i didnt like. Overall good experience and will definitely go back if i need other alterations. Total came out to $ 12.50 per dress pants but prices may vary depending on the material.

I took my top on Tuesday to have it fixed, that Friday I went to pick it up. The sweet lady charged me only $ 5. Highly recommend coming to this place!!!

Very nice Japanese lady. I took four slacks to get hemmed and one of them needed mending. At her shop i tried on each pants, she pinned my pants and adjusted them until I was satisfied with the length. I came back one week later and they were done as promised. She actually ironed them as well. The price was reasonable and I would/​will go back again in the future.

My friend introduced me to Maria’s Alteration Shop and I have been taking all my dresses, skirts, jeans and pants here to be altered, er, essentially shortened. The tiny shop is conveniently located in downtown off Bishop Street in a somewhat non-​descript building on the 3^rd floor, and the turnaround is pretty quick. Prices run about $ 10-​$ 12 for a simple hem and slightly more for tough jeans material. Cash or check only.
The woman who runs the shop is a cute Japanese lady whom I mistakenly called Maria, then Michiko, and finally got it right — it’s Kimiko! And, she’s a darling.

Came back to have a skirt altered and a shirt sown back together. Again, fabulous service and that skirt was a pain to alter I’m sure! She had to basically take the whole thing apart and put it back together, just so it would fit me. All for $ 15! Can’t sing my praises any more.
