I lived pretty much across the street for 10+ years so been here multiple times prior to Unilocal and the prices are reasonable and the quality matches… meaning it is ok to mediocre… matching the lower price. This is more of a place you take out since I read in another review the atmosphere is «divey»…I do agree… I do order the eggplant plate most of the time if I come here… but not much anymore since I moved a couple of years ago… the plate is filled up and since the liquid is to the top, if the plate lunch container isn’t level… it will ooze out which is irritating… but understandable because it is filled up which is a good thing.

A typical barbecue plate lunch place. Makes one l reminisce of a time of early childhood. For the price you pay, I have no complaints other than a overly stuffed stomach. FYI, cash only. Ample parking for a quick grab and go

CASHONLY! FOOD: I really like the food here. I can get a mixed plate consisting of my favorite Chinese dishes made fresh(not like Panda Express where it is served from a warmer) like Eggplant with Pork and Cold Ginger Chicken. Plus they have the normal plate lunch menu like BBQ Chicken, Chicken Katsu, etc. PARKING: They also have several stalls in front of the restaurant reserved for their customers. Plus there is more additional parking around the mall area.

3.5 stars for Mark’s: the food itself was very tasty and had plenty of flavor. We ordered a regular garlic chicken and a mini katsu chicken curry; large portions and our meat was of good quality. And everyone was friendly. But the restaurant itself is a mess… one wall is completely obscured by a mountain of recyclable boxes and although the tables themselves looked clean, the other surfaces(window sills, blinds, walls) had long-standing grime. Get this yummy comfort food to-go!

I had a mini bbq chicken plate. The chicken was average. The plate came with a scoop of rice and mac salad with a small portion of kim chee. The atmosphere is «Divey». A good value. $ 5.35 for the mini. Service was prompt and friendly.

Very consistent and delicious plates! Moderately priced with large portions. We always or order to go for the dinning area is very modest and dated. That being said, don’t be afraid to dine in. Enjoy this little gem and thank me later

I had heard a lot of good things about Mark’s. From experience, I’ve found that some of the best food comes from the hole-in-the-wall places. Sadly, this was not one of them. After a bit of a wait(despite no line), I finally got my food. First and foremost, the gravy was flat. A good gravy to me is the driving force in a good loco moco. While the patties were homemade and pretty good, the mediocre gravy left the dish as a whole lacking. It’s pretty conveniently located to me, so I might go back, but cross Mark’s off the list of best loco mocos.

Good sweet sour chicken plate. The sweet sour chicken is sweet and sour. If you really like sweet sour chicken as much as I like sweet sour chicken, you should get the sweet sour chicken. I don’t like mayonnaise so I get extra rice instead of mac salad on my sweet sour chicken plate. The other stuffs is good too.

I wasn’t impressed at all. Everybody that worked there was sitting in the front eating and they seemed annoyed that they had to take my order and make the food. The food wasn’t that good either. Never going here again.

Plate lunch is enough for 2. Eggplant w/pork, chicken mushroom, chop steak are a few of my faves! Seating enough for 10. Take out recommended.

More of a Chinese take-out place than traditional Hawaiian drive-in fare. It’s still good. The chicken curry and mixed seafood platter was spot on. Only cons are there is not much seating and it’s pretty hard to find even with a GPS.

If you want a quick bite to eat this place is great. Small space, think of it like eating in a master bed room, or your hotel room. But the food is great, a picture of the owners hang to the left of the door with Sam Choy, a well known chef from Hawai’i. Plate lunch style, I had the garlic fried chicken and my wife had the fried chicken wing plate lunches and we were in heaven. Across from Aloha Stadium. This place has my loyalty from here on out.

The place is small, 2 two person tables, 2 four person tables, and six person table. The smells are good coming from the kitchen. The Menus are old but no need to change. The prices are affordable and quality is good.

Customer service is good. You get what asked for. Their portions match the price. They get your meals out fast because most customers come for takeout lunch during the work week. My Gon Lo Mein was cooked fresh and came out fast and delicious. Their menu items are numerous but easy to choose from. I rated 4 stars because because their menu is simple and satisfying.

Hole.In.A.Wall. Mark’s Drive Inn was just that. The restaurant itself is no bigger than the smallest basement studio apartment in Lower Haight. Floor to ceiling boxes, no restroom, handful of antique red booths that seats 2, we’re talking 400 sf, max. However, don’t judge the book by its size. After 5 days of eating my way through Honolulu, I found this place on Sunday, 2 hrs before my departure flight. My loco moco was the best I’ve had in Honolulu — slightly better than Rainbows Drive-Inn. And it was dirt cheap. Note: This place is hard to find, had to make an u-turn into a strip mall parking lot near some mechanic shop.

Last weekend I was jonesing for some oyster sauce chicken… I was making my way to Mililani restaurant when I hit a snag on the freeway. That’s when my friend mentioned, «why don’t we go to Mark’s Drive Inn, instead»? Good idea… good idea, pulled off the freeway & headed to Mark’s for some of my favorite oyster sauce chicken!!! This dish is always made perfectly! Crispy skin, with the gravy all over… yet the skin stays crispy! I had my chicken with brown rice, and mac salad(which I did not eat as I hate mayonnaise). My friend ended up getting the garlic fried chicken. I must say the aroma from the garlic fried chicken was heavenly!!! I tried a piece of my friend’s garlic fried chicken and it was AWESOME!!! Nice garlicky taste, and the chicken was boneless, so no bones to deal with. I will have to come back here and get a plate of this the next time!!! Check em’ out gang! No can go wrong with this place!
