Dr. Reid Koyanagi is an outstanding dentist. Having just had my second teeth extraction done by him, I just had to write a review praising his awesome technique. I felt cheated… there was no pain ! Actually, I’ve been having him work on my teeth for about 8 – 10 years. Gums and teeth were really in bad shape. We discussed what my objectives were in attaining a nice smile. Had some veneers installed. Crown work done. Very happy with the outcome. Can’t say enough for the outstanding work his dental hygienist do. They really keep me aware of the health of my gums. In fact this is the first time in a couple of years since I’ve had to have Dr Koyanagi perform work in my mouth.

There’s a lot of people who are afraid of the dentist. I was never really one of those, probably because of my positive experiences with my family dentists. Dr. Koyanagi had taken over the practice of my family’s dentist when he retired, and he’s been absolutely awesome!

I had actually had a period in life where I hadn’t visited the dentist in about ten years. When I finally got around to scheduling an appointment at the dentist I found out that my dentist had retired, and Dr. Koyanagi had taken over, so I got an appointment with him instead. My experiences with Dr. Koyanagi, Jill (my hygienist), and the wonderful ladies at the front desk have always been excellent!
My teeth cleaning went very well. No pain at all, but I did find out that I could use some optional preventative work done. This was all explained simply and concisely by Dr. Koyanagi, and I opted to get it done. I scheduled a time to get the procedure completed, and that was that.
As I was getting my sealants put in they noticed that one of the spots I was getting a sealant in was actually worse than originally thought, so I ended up with a filling instead of just a sealant. I guess 10 years had taken its toll after all. Even with this unexpected turn of events everything went very smoothly, and I was up and out of there pretty quickly.
I’ve since been regularly making my appointments, and I don’t intend to miss any future appointments.
The office is conveniently located in the King Kalakaua Dental Center on Punahou Street, just makai of King. They’ve got a private lot with a couple dozen stalls, and I’ve never had a problem finding a stall whenever I’ve been there.
Call me crazy, but I actually look forward to my appointments to see the great folks at Dr. Koyanagi’s! If you’re looking for a good dentist try and check him out! Hopefully he’s still accepting new patients!
