Bad pool side food, long waits, and servers DGAF about the tourists. Shrimp cocktail can also be found in the frozen section, 5 chicken wings tiny, sandwich bad. All run about $ 20 each, hey gotta make your money somewhere

Can hear with my family on vacation, nice chicken sandwich at the bar with decent cocktails. There is a pool that is by the beach which my daughters really enjoyed playing in. However we were told that the pool and the surrounding seating is only for hotel guests although there is no signage to indicate this. At the same time that they told us that we could not secure they also called the security on us which was fairly unpleasant. If you’re going to require people to avoid certain areas then you must thoroughly indicate it with appropriate signage. They were also doing construction and allowed a customer to have a phone conference for over 45 minutes in the restaurant. All of which created a less than a relaxing environment.

The food here was pretty much your basic basic. Fries, burgers, salads. The one thing that I can say I thought was very tasty was the chicken sandwich with the tomato aioli. It was very juicy and the roll it came on was crusty yet soft. They also had a pretty decent chocolate-banana smoothie. The main reason I have to give them 2 stars is for the service, which was just not good by any means. The staff is friendly enough, but many of them(not all) don’t seem to care at all about the level of service that they are providing. Three out of the 4 times we ate there our orders came out incorrectly. The first time, we were eating on the beach and our ceasar salads came out without the fococcia croutons(which is the only reason I ordered mine). By the time I noticed, there was no server to be found anywhere so I went ahead and ate the salad. When the girl came by a half hour later and I mentioned it to her, her response was simply«oh, it should have been on there». I was kind of taken aback at how little she cared about the issue. This is a high end resort and when a guest says that they wouldn’t have ordered something if they had know it wasn’t going to be made with the ingredients listed on the menu, you should care. At the very least an apology should have been given, but more appropriately they should problably have comp’ed one of the salads to show that they gave a darn. On another occasion, my friend ordered one salad and then was delivered a completely different salad(which she ate half of despite it being incorrect because she didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, though we did mention it was incorrect to the waiter). When we received the bill however we were billed for the more expensive incorrect salad. When we asked to have it corrected, he apologized for the incorrect billing and billed us for the cheaper salad. Seriously? You bring the entire wrong salad because you were not paying attention, and then when it is brought to your attention, you think the correct thing to do is to charge the lesser price… as opposed to comp’ing the salad because you brought an entirely wrong meal to her to eat?! I don’t know who trained these kids at the restaurant, but the Kahala needs to take a serious look at this because it is bringing down the whole resort experience for an otherwise almost perfect week long stay.

The 4 stars is mainly for the beautiful view(steps from the beach!) and the ahi poke that I’d been craving for since we landed in Hawaii. My husband and I had lunch here twice since we were staying at the resort. The first time, we ordered the mango madness smoothie(mango, pineapple Wedge, passion fruit juice, pineapple juice, coconut), which was incredibly refreshing and delicious during a hot day. The ahi poke was extremely satisfying. I’ve had better, but this was pretty up there. My husband actually tried it for the first time and he said it was ok, but that mainly comes from not liking anything raw or jelly-like in texture. There was a bit too much soy sauce, so I was chugging my water more than usual. I had the grilled fresh island catch sandwich, which was a marlin. Never had it before and probably would never recognize it in the future, but it was good. Not too fishy in my opinion. The asian remoulade it came with was a good complement to the sandwich. My husband had the original seaside burger. He said it was okay – he requested it to be medium but they gave it to us well-done. We were too hungry to send it back. Keep in mind, the food took way too long to come to our table. But the fries. Oh geez, the fries. They made up for the mediocre meals we had. It was big, crispy, and seasoned perfectly. Too bad it wasn’t the same the second time around. It was more soggy, which was disappointing since we chose it as our last meal on the island before our flight left. Blah. He ordered the same burger and I requested it to be medium(again) and told the server that last time it was well done, so please make sure it’s medium. Thirty minutes later(not exaggerating), it came back well done. Too hungry and trying to leave for our flight, we sucked it up. The meat was just too dry. Again, really disappointing. I had the chicken sandwich the second time around and it was surprisingly good, but stuffed with lots of balsamic vinaigrette. I had to take some of it off because it was too much. Overall, the place isn’t terrible, but wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here. Good thing the view is spectacular!

We had just come from a hike on Diamond Head and were looking for a restaurant nearby with a relaxing atmosphere. We found Seaside Grill online and were blown away by the location, the service, and the food. The patio is right beside the beach and right next to beach chairs and cabanas. You sit outdoor but sun sails provide some nice shade while you enjoy your meal. The ahi poke is excellent and if you order it as an entrée with some chips and guacamole, you have a pretty good meal. The Mai Tais are excellent and come in a few varieties. The mango and classic mai tais were both excellent.

I heard great things about this place. Don’t get me wrong, it was good, but definitely did not live up to the hype.

I must admit, one of the reasons I love to take the kids to the pool are the poolside drinks. Nothing says resort life better than enjoying a frozen cocktail by the pool or beach. The Kahala Hotel and Resort’s Seaside Grill offers an extensive drink menu. Whether you’re looking for a non-alcoholic drink, specialty cocktail, low calorie drink, or beer, they have several options to please every palate. Lunch and drinks are served at beachside tables with a direct and gorgeous view of the ocean or if you prefer, can be served poolside or on the beach. I loved that the Seaside Grill offers a kids menu for children 12 and under as well as a regular lunch menu. After a full afternoon of water play, the kids practically inhaled their chicken fingers($ 10) and grilled ham and cheese($ 8) both served with french fries. Off the lunch menu, the adults enjoyed fresh ahi poke($ 20) and the original seaside burger — 9 oz hand formed ground black angus beef with white cheddar and bacon($ 15). Be sure to sign up for the Kahala’s Epitome Program and receive 10% off food items at the Seaside Grill. Service was great! They serve cocktails from 10:30am and lunch from 11am. They are open until 5:30pm.

Decent food for a decent price(by Honolulu standards), great service, and a beautiful view. I will certainly go back for a casual lunch if I’m there

It’s all about tha place, bout tha place, bout tha place, not the service! Well, by place I mean«locale» but it sounded better. The grounds are GORGEOUS. It’s much less crowded than the touristy Waikiki beaches. They have stylish coverings for shade from the hot Hawaiian sun and plenty of seats outdoors. We ordered 3 of the Royal Pine drinks(slushy boozy drink in hollowed out pineapple). Warning: they take a LONG time to prepare. We placed our order right away and it took almost 20 min before our drinks came out. I’m on vacation here, remember, a warning or a suggestion of something else to drink besides water while we wait would have been appreciated. Although they were certainly delicious and made for good Instagrams. The food was great. We ordered the Ahi Poke for an app which was so mouthwateringly fresh. Then I had the«Nalo Green Salad with ahi tuna which was also very good. Lots of delicious greens and the fish was seasoned perfectly, although a bit over done. My friend got the Chinese Chicken Salad and said she loved it too. It’s a shame, between the food and the scenery this place could have been 5 stars easily. However, the staff was SOOOSLOOOOW. We had to wait for everything. Finally we had to physically get up and walk to the door to the kitchen to get our bill from our server who was just chit chatting with his buddy in the back. All of the servers looked about 18 and like they just got out of class. Wouldn’t have been a problem had they been more attentive. I was definitely expecting more with the prices they are charging. It has dolphins though…

Today l was there with my husband, sea is great, the view is great and if you get lunch or drink, its free parking validation. We got hungry and went to the Seaside Grill café, menu was simple. Prices were expensive(l paid $ 18 for my grill chicken sandwich). My husband got pork burger and l ordered chicken sandwich and we started waiting. The problem is we waited more than normal– around 40 minutes– for a sandwich and a burger. We even asked the waitress if they forgot about us… Finally she served my sandwich but not my husband’s burger. He waited 5 more minutes to got his burger. Our food was very delicious(l guess the café’s chef is very talented). We paid $ 35 for a sandwich and a burger –no drinks-. Long story short if you want to wait for 50 minutes to get your food, it is worth to go and try.

Resort setting. Unbeatable view. Like a postcard. Unfortunately, nothing particularly memorable about the burger. It’s a standard hotel burger with fries. Not terrible either. Service is a little on the slow side, but pleasant enough. 2 burgers + 4 beers = $ 69 plus gratuity. Expecting more for the location and the price… hence 3 stars.

This is a tasty, albeit expensive, lunch spot at the Kahala hotel. Lunch for two, without cocktails, will probably zing you for $ 50+ or so, but the food is quite good and probably the cheapest at the resort. It overlooks the beach(probably 50 feet from the shore), and is very calm and tranquil. I have eaten here on two separate occasions and enjoyed each meal– I had a chicken karage musubi special once, and a fresh mahi mahi sandwich the next time. They also make a mean milkshake! Cocktails are good but expensive, par for the course at this hotel. This isn’t a spot I would go out of my way for, or travel to specifically for lunch– although the hotel/beach are a nice destination, and the dolphin pond is amazing.

The Seaside Grill at the Kahala Report is our escape from reality. After a long and hard week at work, my hubby and I occasionally go to the Grill on Sundays for lunch to unwind and relax in a tranquil and beautiful setting that features views of Koko Head and the ocean. Although only 10 minutes from where we live, it’s an escape from the«city». Although the prices are high, the ambience and what it does to our state of mind are worth it. Routinely, we always start with a Mai Tai. My hubby and I are Mai Tai fans and we unanimously agree that this one is the best. It’s always after the first sip that we sit back, close our eyes, and relish the moment. The Mai Tai is not too sweet or strong, it’s the perfect combination of ingredients. I always order the garden and portebello mushroom burger. Sure I can order this anywhere for a lower price, but something about eating it in a beautiful beach setting that makes it so much for delicious. Additionally, the Grill uses fresh ingredients so it does taste a notch better than other garden burgers. Depending on his hunger level, my hubby orders the hamburger, club house sandwich or onion rings. The rings are the best we’ve had; not greasy and for some reason, 30 minutes later, they still retain the crisp and crunch to them. The rings come with a pesto-ranch dip, a delightful complement. We end our meal with another Mai Tai. Then, we are soon reminded that it’s the end of the weekend and a new week starts. Aahhh, but at least something to look forward to the following weekend.

I went here with my former boss and his wife(probably couldn’t afford it otherwise) and wow, was it a nice break from Waikiki. it’s a beautiful, tranquil setting and it would be the perfect venue for a wedding — which in fact there were two of while we were there. The food was very good and well thought out, and the service was a solid five stars — best I’ve had in quite some time. The one thing I would say is the entrée options on the buffet were like 90% seafood, and mostly shellfish, which the couple who brought me here were allergic to. I’m not sure if that’s always how the buffet is or if it just happened to be that way the night we went. Thankfully they also had steak grilled to order, and amazing salad and cheese options as well as desserts, so no one went hungry. After dinner we went to check out the dolphin pond they have on the premises, but since it was dark we couldn’t see much. Overall, a really good getaway from Waikiki, or a good stay-cation for kama-aina.

Palm trees swaying, the ocean lapping the sand a few feet from your table, a distinct lack of Waikiki crowds, and seriously overpriced drinks… If you have $ 11, and you want to spend it on a single mai tai(I’m not saying you do, or that you should), I strongly suggest you go here. With a table directly on the sand, and a lush resort surrounding you, this is a very pleasant way to deplete your money. I didn’t eat the food, and I probably never will or would(seriously…$ 10 for fries!!!), but I have to admit the setting was relaxing and spectacular.
