Unfortunately they dont do sandwiches for breakfast but the guys was pretty nice and friendly about it since I have the coupon I told him i can use it for later and he said it will only be for lunch. I was okay about it but customer service wise he is good. I will come back again

Pork tenderloin banh mi was really dry and needed some kind of spread on it. Meat was dried out and tasteless. The sandwich also could’ve used more pickled veggies on it. If youre craving a banh mi, youre better off going to Bale. Berry tart was pretty good but I wouldnt go back just for that.

I had their quinoa salad with ponzu dressing before, which was quite refreshing. I love that you get a free cookie with your check-in and purchase of a sandwich! I chose the chocolate chip cookie with nuts, which was nicely textured, not too crispy or chewy. You can also get one without nuts if that’s more your style. I got the Butcher’s Cut sandwich which was nice. The bread was a tad dry, so I wished they had more aioli or other spread. Maybe a brighter, tomato-based spread would be nice on this sandwich. Nice sandwich overall though. I love mushrooms so I’m glad they’re on there! I appreciate how quick it is to grab a sandwich here since they’re all ready-made. Great when you need to get back to the office right away.

Great food. Great service. Better selection of vegetarian & pescatarian sandwiches, than the name belies. While the fillings are really tasty the care that the«baker» takes really shows. Outstanding cookies for desert. Prices are reasonable for downtown.

They take the Belly card or app depending on your preference, which I had no idea about until coming here. All I saw was a free card so I grabbed it without knowing what it was first. I like free things… But it’s basically a sort of stamp card. There are a handful of businesses in Hawaii that participate and with the assumption that the card is new I would guess that more businesses will eventually be added to the list. A few so far are The Baker and the Butcher, The Curb, and Infinitea. You pretty much check in when you go to one of these restaurants and Belly keeps track of your points from these check-ins. With these points there’s a number of free or discounted items you can get. But anyways, I noticed The Baker and the Butcher a while ago but didn’t get around to trying it until recently because I was trying not to eat out so much. I got the turkey sandwich and that was pretty good. They must do fairly well since a lot of times they run out of certain sandwiches. After my first visit I got an email for a free chocolate chip cookie. And of course, since I like free things I ended up coming back a few days later. Sucker, I know. But anyways, if you’re craving a sandwich and you’re in downtown you should definitely try this place out. It’s reasonably priced and the food is pretty good.

Meh. Nothing to write home about. Shared their Vietnamese banh mi and ahi salad with a friend and we were both underwhelmed. The sandwich didn’t have much flavor, and the ahi looked scary and old, not appetizing at all. Maybe we picked the wrong sandwich to try? We had such high hopes for this place since it’s hard to find good sandwiches in Hawaii but we were disappointed. The customer service is excellent. Very friendly and helpful cashier.

I was really excited to try this place because of the reviews. Went early around 7am, and it was pretty empty. Someone came right after me though, raving about their quiche. I wanted to pick up both breakfast and lunch so I asked if they had any sandwiches. The guy at the counter said banh mi so I decided to take it. I should’ve known about the freshness of the sandwich already when he pulled one from all the way in the back of the fridge. I also got a quiche and their famous brownies. Quiche was good. A little too salty, but still decadent and rich in its flavor. Brownie was really dry. It tasted like it was left over from last night, which it probably was. Then I opened up my sandwich(see the picture and disappointment). I shared it with my friend, who found it to be equally bad. There was no tomato as other reviewers’ pictures have suggested. The cilantro was brown, and the meat tasted almost rotten. I understand that it’s supposed to be cold cut or whatever, and it’s from the fridge, but there’s no way you should sell a sandwich that’s probably been sitting there for more than 2 – 3 days. Pure disappointment as I had such a high hope for this place. Probably won’t be coming back. P. S. Free coffee. Scorching hot if you spill it on yourself like I did.

Yes I did it again. I ate lunch during breakfast. Lately my body has been craving sandwiches. I wake up, and go to sleep thinking of where to go to get some. Anywho, the baker and butcher helped cease my hunger and desire. I had read reviews that they were refrigerated, and that wasn’t too appealing to me. However, the pictures provided on Unilocal had me running to the eatery lol.
I walked in and the counter looked bare. I believe they were preparing for the lunch rush as breakfast was coming to a halt. I ordered the banh mi with pork tenderloin, shredded carrots, onion, vinegar, and mayo on ciabatta. Well it took seconds as he took it out of the fridge. I added a raspberry linzor tea cookie to satisfy my sweet tooth as well.
The employees are very polite and helpful. I paid and took a seat outside. I took my first bite of the banh mi and it was great. Only con would be the cold bread that became soft sitting in the fridge. If they could bake them in house it would be awesome. The pork with the combination of carrots, onions and vinegar gave it a tart taste with a crunch that helped disguise the soft ciabatta. I finished it all and started onto my linzor cookie. It was melting in my mouth. I love the taste of pure butter cookies with raspberry on top. Well I will be back. If anything I’ll just toast the bread at home. ;)

My son and I spent a week in Honolulu while my husband was in the hospital. Our hotel was a minute away from Baker & Butcher and the small eatery soon became our go to for breakfast and lunch. Fresh coffee and pastries in the morning, exceptional salads and tasty sandwiches at noon. The nurses at the hospital raved about the box of tea cookies I brought them. We ate their chocolate chip cookies for breakfast while waiting for our flight home — they were some of the best bakery cookies I’ve ever had. The guys working at Baker & Butcher were very kind and personable. It’s a great little place.

I was lucky enough to score a free goodie bag from this place on First Friday while at Art at Mark’s Garage. They had a bunch of premade roast beef sandwiches with chocolate chip cookies for free. It was like winning the lottery. Kind of. The roast beef sandwich was packed with flavor and all the right textures. The bread was ciabatta style, with just the right amount of chewy and saltiness. The roast beef was thick slices, like it was hand carved off of a big slab of fresh roast beef(definitely not the board head thin slices you get at most delis) like my mom used to make. The mayo was really good– funny that the condiment was notable, but it was! And a chocolate chip cookie. Perfect ratio of crispy edges and chewy dough. Semisweet chocolate chip ratio was perfect– not too many or few and good disbursement. I am going to hunt this place down and try one of every sandwich on the menu! And those tarts look amazing… And I want more cookies.

What a great find! I needed something quick, reasonably priced and satisfying today and The Baker & Butcher did not let me down. I randomly decided to give them a try and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed lunch today! I had the Turkey Pesto and treated myself to a slice of Lilikoi cheesecake. The sandwich was pre-made, however, I could tell that it was fresh. The pesto was not too oily and I loved that they used macnuts instead of pinenuts!!! GREAT local twist and I could taste the difference. The bread was perfect… not too thick. The cheesecake was AMAZING! I wish I bought another piece. Incredibly delicious and nicely balanced(not too thick or heavy). Can’t wait to go back for more.

You do not know what love is until you take a bite of The Baker & Butcher’s delectable Caramel Brownies. Our office was generously given a box of The Baker & Butcher treats a few weeks ago and the brownies were, by far, the most popular. I knew I just had to return to eat them again! Two chocolaty-y chocolate brownie layers sandwich a thick spread of ooey gooey caramel and is all topped off with a generous sprinkling of powdered sugar. This brownie is rich and moist(Ew, I hate that word but it’s the only one that can aptly describe this brownie’s…moistness) and AMAZING! Biting into The Baker & Butcher’s brownie is exactly as they describe falling in love: Time stops, colors brighten, and Foreigner’s «I Want To Know What Love Is» inexplicably pops into your head. Don’t believe me? Try one and see for yourself!

Delightful little space highly recommended by friends. Friends that, if a sandwich-based Tinder existed, would NEVER be matched with me. Friends that actually say things like«I enjoy dry bread around my tuna salad». Friends that did not say such things until AFTER we made the trek to this establishment. Thanks a lot, friends. We ordered the BLT and the Bahn Mi. I realize they are not made to order, but I did not expect the bread to be the consistency and freshness of a dried out dish sponge. And it wasn’t «delicious though crumbly» bread, it was«stale and crumbly and dry like the Sahara» bread. If I was going to kidnap someone and attempt to choke them to death with bread, I would use this bread. Not that I would ever do that. The death bread coupled with cold, dry ingredients and a noticeable dearth of flavor left us very disappointed. The baked goods were pretty good. Not amazing enough for me to make a trip to this spot but if someone brought me a chocolate chip cookie I wouldn’t refuse it. Unless I was being healthy. Which I totally am. Any minute now.

Searched for«sandwiches, open at 10:30, en route to HNL» and came up with B&B. Am so pleasantly surprised! Quick and friendly service and sandwiches so simply yet elegantly prepared. Even my picky husband(despite mayo being on the BLT) had only an «oh wow» to exclaim after the first bite. Cookies were a nice finishing touch– this will be our go to pre beach and pre flight from now on!

I have an all day seminar to attend and fellow Unilocalers have raved about these great sandwiches that you can pick up and go. Well I was excited to see that they are open at 6:30am. My daughter got the bacon egg and cheese and I ordered the spinach, egg and feta cheese. These are served frittata style in between bread. Kinda looks like airplane food… but what a bang in taste. These breakfast sandwiches are tasty! They didn’t have any sandwiches ready so don’t plan on picking lunch up this early. They had a chicken salad from the day before. I really needed something so I got that. Oh this was a great salad as well. It’s mixed greens with a whole chicken breast that has a hulihuli chicken flavor, candied walnut, apples and their house vinegarette pairs perfectly. It’s a small counter pick up with a few tables outside. I love the guys gray butcher shirts… looks professional. I will be back to try the other sandwiches.

What started off as a mission for a scone turned out to be one of my latest finds for good lunch eats. Yesterday was one of my friend’s birthdays and I wanted to pick up a light breakfast to ensure that her day started off on the right track. I was in the area and used my Unilocal app to locate nearby bakeries. The Baker & Butcher intrigued me because of the name… sort of an odd pairing if you ask me. But after scoping out the shop and talking to Lance(the guy at the register), I found myself a bit smitten by this small shop. With all the eateries on this street, why choose The Baker & Butcher? Because they make their food fresh, in-house(the baker is the head chef & the butcher is the general manager according to Lance), and it seems reasonably priced. You get a small coffee with the purchase of a pastry, which I thought was neat. There are two blends-the Baker(for sweeter items) and the Butcher(for savory items). My friend LOVED her scone. The tea cookies were too cute to pass up(they change daily). Since the scone was such a hit, we decided to order lunch from The Baker & Butcher. At first, when I called, I got the voicemail. Although I left a voicemail, I received no return call. I gave it some time and tried calling again and was able to put in my order. One thing which I wish they had shared with me was that the sandwiches are pre-made in the morning… When it came time for my pick-up, I had to wait a while for them to slice up my sandwiches into 4 bite sized pieces(I had asked for 3 pieces, but since they were pre-made and pre-sliced into 2, 3 pieces would not be feasible). It is for these reasons why this is a 4 stars for me rather than 5. That aside, the food did taste great. I am currently on a carb cleanse and yet I cheated so that I could sample their bread(which I think is baked in-house). Pretty good bread. We had ordered 3 sandwiches: (1) Banh Mi: This was my favorite. Is it Pig & the Lady status? No. But the pickled veggies were good and I liked the pork. I also liked the fact that the bread wasn’t overly crunchy. (2) The Butcher: The meat on this is delicious. I love mushrooms in sandwiches so this was an easy win for me. What could elevate this is probably to have it served warm. (3) The BLT: I’m not a big BLT fan to begin with. Although, I have to say-the bacon is pretty darn good. More meat than fat. Flavorful. The brownie sandwiches have a middle layer of salted caramel and even on my pesky diet… I couldn’t pass it up and nabbed one for my friend. I didn’t hear any complaints or negative feedback from her regarding it. There is also an option to order a lunch bag(sandwich, drink, side) starting at $ 10. They’ve been open since March and I hope they continue to thrive. Will definitely come back sometime for lunch or a light snack. It didn’t bother me that the pre-make their sandwiches because I was thinking it would be a good spot when you just can’t afford to spend too much time on lunch-but a friend of mine brought up a good point: the bread may end up soggy(didn’t really experience that, but my order was picked up around 11:30AM)…and because I’d like hot sandwiches-I wish they would make things to order. But I think it may be a matter of resources and slow service is exactly what deters me from ordering food at Good Eats.

Two stars for the Butcher’s Cut Sandwich. One extra star for the mexican tea cookie. Although the butcher’s cut was the size in width and length of a soda can, I expected it to blow me away for the price I paid. The fact that it’s pre-made and just warmed in the toaster was disappointing. When you hear butcher, you expect freshly cut meats. That sandwich lacked in flavor and execution. Sorry, but I took two bites, made a sad face, wrapped it up, and ate my cookie which was delicious. I’ve learned my lesson and went to my go-to sandwich, Braised Beef Tongue Sandwich $ 12-$ 13, comes with fries, au jus for dipping and made fresh. I can’t tell you where because they might run out when I get there if word gets out!

Check the date stamp on your sandwich before exiting the shop! I knew beforehand that sandwiches here are pre-made, so no big deal. What I wasn’t expecting was day old sandwiches. So imagine my surprise when I was ready to eat, I found my sandwiches(yes, plural) dated the day before. I looked at my wall calendar 3 times just to make sure… fuuuhhdge. I felt like pulling a Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares rant: «No, no, noooo!!! What are you thinking??! You think your customers are going to come back serving day old food?» End Rant. Don’t really want to comment on the sandwiches other than the fact that the lettuce in the BLT was wilted & the leeks in the Tombo Tuna was limpy. So much potential is there but the execution is all wrong. Umm, I just paid $ 14 for 2 sammies and I expect some sort of freshness here so forgive me for being peeved about it. Tried the caramel brownie sandwich. That was the only good thing about my visit and the reason for a second star. But dessert in a sandwich shop is supposed to be an added bonus, not the main attraction.

This place is getting some really mixed reviews but I’m on the fence. I agree with the other reviews that the sandwiches aren’t great cold, but they aren’t bad either. I tried the Kiawe BLT and I thought it was pretty tasty. The tomato purée in lieu of actual tomatoes was a nice twist. This place has some room for improvement. For instance, the sandwiches are expensive and should include a small bag of chips so people feel they are getting a little more for their money. I’d say read the Unilocal reviews but try the place out to form your own opinion. I’d go back.

I love the concept that they have a variety of meats that are not common like chicken! While I like the concept of a cold sandwich, things are just more alive when it is heated up. Compared to Mix Café, it’s neighbor a block away, Mix Café heats up their sandwiches and includes a side salad with olive oil and balsamic vinergarette. Butcher’s Cut — the tri tip in this sandwich is awesome and the flavors are all there. You can taste the Shiitake muchrooms and sauteed onions. Pork Tenderloin Banh Mi — This sandwich came with a lot of pork which is awesome! However, the pork is a little dry and there is not enough flavoring in the sandwich. I think either a dressing, mustard or something extra would add flavor to this sandiwch. The soup of the day — ok. I think they would do fantastic if they: 1) Heated up sandwiches 2) Offered combo deals such as with soup or salad 3) Sold a larger sandwich? I was still hungry after eating my Butcher’s Cut! I hope they make improvements to their sandwiches because I would love to come back!
