I had to get my eyes dilated at TAMC this morning, so before I attempted to use any motor vehicles i walked around the first floor to check out the services TAMC had to offer. The Express exchange was super convenient, it had an all of the basic needs you could want, especially for a hospital and they take cash and card so that was a plus also. It looked like it was being restocked partially when I went in there so some of the shelves were kind of baron, but overall it provided the services I needed.

The shoppette at Tripler is a decent size for it being located inside a hospital. The prices are a little higher than any other PX but only slightly. They have pre made sushi that at one point was good but since it had been refrigerated for such a long time it becomes kind of squishy. Located on the same floor however are a bunch of amenities like a Subway next door and a Starbucks coffee. Also on the same floor are laundry services a barber shop and a flower store. The Shoppette is located on the first floor.

One of the few places in the hospital that accepts plastic instead of cash. Prices are reasonable except if you want to get packaged fresh cut fruit. What’s up with $ 5 for pineapple chunks or worse, watermelon? Other than that, prices are what you expect from the PX/shopettes over the island. Selection is okay — lots of snacks, freshly made sushi(that isn’t that great tasting though), sandwiches in the refrigerated section, lots of drinks, and some microwaveable meals for those times when you forget you’re on call and didn’t remember to bring food or go to Subway. They also stock greeting cards, leis, stuffed animals, and some miscelleaneous gift items in case your loved one is in the hospital and you didn’t plan ahead. Hours are okay. Wish they were open Sundays!
