Closed! What happened? You were doing so well offering pretty good pizza? Sorry to see you go… Hope we are able to have the owners open up soon elsewhere, HI needs more dance clubs especially with good food.
Tragedy at the V-Lounge… As of 7⁄16 the pizza is now a la chef Infernos; no longer the creative, delicious pies with chewy amazing crust that you instantly fall in love with. We used to eat here every weekend so the switch has come as a big surprise. In a state of shock and sorrow after seeing the new menu, we made our own pie with black olives, onions, and prosciutto. Overall the new pies are larger but unimpressive… they will scratch the pizza itch, but so does frozen pizza :(. No more prima, no more sides/appetizers, no more cocktails. Why on earth they made this switch, I can’t deduce. This place used to be hands down five stars because of the amazing food and drinks, but now there’s no real draw to return. It has gone from a hole-in-the-wall with great food, to just being a hole-in-the-wall.

Fungi Pizza was really good. I would come back for the pizza. Interesting environment… not really comfortable for my taste. I rate for the Pizza only.

After seeing all the hype about that pizza with the yolk in the middle, finally made it down to V-Lounge on a Tuesday night and boy am I glad I did! Had no idea that this little hole-in-the-wall restaurant was home to easily one of the best pizzas I’ve had! From the outside and name itself you’d never guess what this place has in store but you’ll be glad you stopped in. Prima Pizza: The holy grail of all their menu options. Piping hot, fresh out of the oven hand tossed pizza topped with pancetta, onions, truffle oil, fresh tomato sauce, decadent mozzarella and as a recommendation definitely add on some olives, they use whole fresh olives, not that canned stuff from the supermarket. It makes the pizza that much more savory. And to top it off, that decadent egg yolk. The yolk acts like a sauce to accompany each bite. Tip: When you pull off the first slice use it to spread out the egg yolk over the pizza’s entirety, trust me, you’ll be glad you did! Personally, I’m a huge fan of breads and carbs, V Lounge has dough that you can tell right off the bat is fresh, the crust is crunchy and light but still soft enough so it’s not a cracker. The center gets pretty soggy from the egg yolk but fold up your pizza and your problem is solved. The atmosphere here is a little subpar. I realize it’s sharing the backspace of a bar/nightclub but it is a bit dirty and not the best place you’d want to consume food in, but nonetheless I’ll still keep coming back here for more! Price points are definitely a cut above your normal pizza, but they do use quality ingredients which I’d much rather prefer to the commercial chains. Excited to try what else they have to offer!

Came to eat here for the first time with my coworkers. A coworker of mine was giving rave reviews about their pizza, and for him to do so must’ve meant it was really good. This coworker happens to be Italian, loves to eat great food, and has traveled to Italy a few times. He says it’s the closest thing to the pizza he got in Italy. With that being said my expectations were high. Unfortunately I’ve never been to Italy so I can’t compare pizza’s but I must say their pizzas are bomb-dot-com! I got to eat the margherita and the prima, also had the cauliflower as well. All were great. Definitely coming back and recommending this place to my friends. The service was great, our server was attentive and nice. He always kept coming back with water refills, which is a plus for me.

I am extremely impressed with V Lounge’s service. I recently planned a social for the organization I’m in for 30 – 40 guests, and from the very beginning, customer service was spot on. –When I made the reservations, the manager warned me that it may be crowded because an art show would be going on at the same time, but they’d still be more than happy to accommodate us. It’s nice when restaurants are up front with you from the start about these details, so you know what to expect coming in. –A large section was reserved for us with couches as well as table seating. Perfect amount of space for everyone to be able to get up and mingle. –We wanted to make a short speech for a guest we were honoring, and they provided us with a mic free of charge, and even turned down the music for us when we spoke. –There was no minimum that needed to be ordered ahead of time, but we put in a pre-order of pizzas anyways. When the first few people arrived, the pizzas came out shortly after that, and kept on coming. Extremely quick turnaround and guests were happy since they were all hungry. –There was only one waiter for our large group, but he was very patient and checked on us constantly. He even did separate tabs for us which was nice. –Happy hour is until 7pm and included $ 3 wells and beers. The pizzas were very delicious as is, but tasted so much better since customer service was amazing. I especially enjoyed the Prima pizza with the runny egg right in the middle. I also got to try the beets with mozzarella cream and the cauliflower with pesto and white anchovies appetizers. Both really tasty too! Thank you V Lounge for putting up with our group and serving us with perfection! I will definitely be back!

Alcohol and pizza … What a combo! V Lounge is where you can enjoy both but don’t have any big expectations when it comes to aesthetics and lack of friendly service. The one thing which keeps this place afloat was the pizza. When I walked in here, I thought it was one of the kill rooms in «Dexter». I overlooked it and hung out with my friends while munching on my pizza. I had a slice of their fungi pizza($ 16) which was loaded with mushrooms, red onions, parsley, thyme and lime(which I don’t recall). Not bad if you’re in the mood for a pizza without the red sauce. What made this a hit was the crust! Oh my, soft dough which was baked in the kiawe oven put me in pizza euphoria. The bartender that evening wasn’t too jolly and could have been a bit more generous on the pours. They do offer happy hour with $ 3 on their beers and well drinks 5−7PM Monday-Saturday. They are located on Kona Street next to AMC(closer to Nijiya Market side). Pizza yes! Bar maybe?!?

A polished hardwood bar. Bottles of prized libations line the shelves behind. The bartender sets a clear lead crystal single malt vessel in front of you then pours two fingers of Macallan 25. It’s golden hue glistening from the light of the fireplace. It’s heady aroma intensified by the smell of burning oak. You take a sip… Your home. Mail piled on the counter. The pizza box you were meaning to take out next to it. You reach into the dishwasher; crap forgot to run it. Grab a red solo cup, throw in a couple of ice cubes, dump in some Macallan 25 and drink… Same incredible libation yet oddly not the same experience. And that is the problem with V Lounge. Sister restaurant to Prima but failing on all levels to meet the foodie experience one expects. The menu reads the same with pizzas and starters but the quality is a step below and the consistency is just not justifying the high price. Several visits; burnt crust, room temp pizza, the mozzarella not fresh and milky, just dry and melting, excessive truffle oil on the Prima and too salty. Very disappointing considering Prima makes one of the best Napolitana pizzas in Hawaii. Bizarre ambiance(part lounge, part dive bar, part sports bar, dark, «eclectic» artwork including bathroom graffiti and an odd selection of music that doesn’t match any persona. Friendly service. Very limited selection of beer and calls reasonably priced. Great place for a party(ie UYE). Bottom line, if you’re already a fan of V-Lounge, don’t try Prima, you will kick yourself. If you think the pizzas were just OK, Prima awaits.

It happened AGAIN… I’ve read so many great reviews of this place with mouth watering pics of their«famous» kiawe-wood-fired pizzas so I set the bar high only to walk out with that MEH feeling… Located just across of the MAUKA side of Ala Moana Center on the far EWA side, this hole-in-the-wall bar has great character and personality. You walk in and feel like going into a time warp back with that 70’s feeling. Very warm and comforting. I came here for Happy Hour(between 5pm — 7pm) to meet up with fellow Unilocalers who had an unofficial event here. I originally had some plans but scrapped them just so I could come here. I have been wanting to try their pizzas for some time now and what a better opportunity with a whole bunch of friends. The service and beer prices are the only things good in my experience. Our server was very attentive which I was surprised because we had a large group of about 30 people and he handled us pretty good. Pitchers of domestic beer were $ 8 or glasses going for $ 3 each. However, the pizzas fell FLAT with me. I initially wanted to order Prosciutto Rucola(tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, arugula, parmigiano reggiano & prosciutto) @ $ 18 but was advised they were ALLOUT. I mean, we got there at 5pm when Happy Hour starts and how can you run out? I was so looking forward to eating this pizza so I pursued this and found out«this pizza was not available for several days now». If you receive a reservation since Saturday for about 20+ Unilocalers coming for pizza and beer, wouldn’t you stock up on your supply? Especially when the pizzas here are NOT cheap. So, my next choice was Margherita(tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella and basil) TOP @ $ 20 which utilizes several more special ingredients than your regular Margherita @ $ 16 but was advised they also don’t have it available!!! I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard that. You’re in business to make money and how can you NOT stock up on ingredients when 21 Unilocalers RSVP’d for this event and 17 of them are Elites??? Go figure… My Margherita pizza came out and I was so excited to eat it but then tried to pick up a slice and the bottom triangle fell off! It was so wet that the crust couldn’t hold up. My pizza was all soggy in the center and it was just delivered to our table. I didn’t want to make a scene and send the pizza back so I let it go. I was able to try other pizzas that my friends ordered and it wasn’t great and wasn’t bad. The Prima(tomato Sauce, Pancetta, onions, thyme, fresh mozzarella, egg yolk, truffle oil) was NOT soggy. However, it was cold by the time I ate it. I also took a bite of their famous Boquerones(tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, white anchovies, onions, garlic oil, parsley, & chili water). I LOVE anchovies on my pizza but this was a first for fresh white anchovies. Texture wise I wasn’t a fan as I’m used to the canned anchovies. Overall, a sub-par experience here and I left here all deflated. I had a great time with my friends but this place didn’t deliver good food. If I’m near this area again I’d rather go to Home Bar & Grill where their food is also pricey but I can count on delicious bar food. Or, if I want kiawe-wood-fired pizzas I’m better off with KIawe Pizza at Hawaii Kai Farmers Market on Saturdays. They’re only $ 9 and the pizzas I’ve eaten there are NOT soggy and fall apart.

My boyfriend and I have quite the tumultuous relationship with V Lounge. In fact, I can pretty much liken it to our fiery relationship when we’re «in a fight.» As I’m sure you know, in love, most arguments stem from pure misunderstanding and miscommunication. One fateful Saturday we decided we absolutely had to have V Lounge for dinner and while driving back to town from Ewa Beach I tried to call in a take-out order. To my dismay no matter how many times I tried to call, no one answered the phone. I began to rant:“Why isn’t anyone answering!!! I’m so hungry and I don’t want to have to wait another twenty minutes! Arrrrrggggghhhh!!!“ We continued to called all the way back to town for the next 20 minutes. By the time we got to V Lounge we were both consumed by our bitterness because we both felt completely ignored by our pizza soulmate. Why wouldn’t they answer the phone when all we wanted to do was love them? My boyfriend stormed into V Lounge while I waited in the car and came back with our pizzas twenty minutes later. Relieved he told me they hadn’t meant to ignore us, the number on Unilocal was old and no one had updated it. Doh! We updated the number in hopes that future V Lounge lovers would not feel as slighted as we had and could be reunited even sooner with outstanding pizza! As we ate our amazing pizzas while watching ‘Breaking Bad’ on Netflix we looked into one another’s eyes and smiled. V Lounge pizza with a coke is one of the best couples in the history of love! Still by far my FAVORITE pizza in Honolulu and we’ll be returning soon for another love in over prima and margherita pizzas!

Walked in and it smelled like feces for a while, even up to the bar. The service was horrible, as if the workers didn’t care for what we wanted and ordered. The pizza took more than 30 minutes to make, as we sat near the bar, the bartender, idle at work, didn’t even let us know when it was finished. We hastily took the pizza to go and ate it outside… the pizza was soggy and tasteless… For 16 dollars, a total rip off. Should have went to papa johns or dominos, for they taste much better. –terrible service –disgusting lack of cleanliness –tasteless, expensive, poor-quality pizza I guess they just went downhill, and hard… Never going there again

Late night munchies or aye let’s get some pizza-Detour to V lounge. A while in the wall bar that serves the best pizza on the Island, located right across the street from Ala Moana mall. The pizzeria itself transforms itself into a lounge late night. Service was excellent and the pizza was served fast. Which pizza was my favorite? The PRIMA! envision Pancetta, sweet onions, hamakua alil’i oyster mushrooms, thyme, parsley and homemade fresh mozzarella, egg and truffle oil! OOHHH lala can we order 3 more of these? Not only their pizza was divine but I enjoyed their brushetta and roasted cauliflower with drizzled pesto and anchovies. My other suggestions were to order their Prisciutto rucola & Margherita-Bellissimo!

Regarding«Legends Never Sleep: Joel Gaspar Solo Exhibit» I’ve known Joel Gaspar since 2010, when he introduced me to Rise Up Hawaii, a non-profit orgranization that coordinated benefit concerts for local & international humanitarian events. It was the first time I actively participated in something bigger than myself; these experiences helped me grow as as an individual: personally & professionally. Personally, I believe the world needs more people like Joel Gaspar, he’s a humble & talented graphic designer with a heart of gold. In the three years, I’ve had the privilege of knowing Joel, he never ceases to consistently deliver quality work(which is why his portfolio continues to blossom). However, the most impressive characteristic about Joel as a graphic designer & human being is his ability to inspire you to want to make a difference. Joel is passionate about creating art that raises awareness about social injustice; his message of positivity is visible through his artwork & purposely incorporating some of his role models: Martin Luther King, Audrey Hepburn, C.W. Lewis into his pieces. Joel’s «Legends Never Die» solo exhibit is a beautiful example of how art can be a powerful tool to awaken something inside of you & influence change. If you missed the opening reception for Legends Never Die: Joel Gaspar Solo Exhibit, stop by V Lounge Hawaii for delicious Kiawe Wood Fired Brick Oven pizzas & art. Joel Gaspar’s «Legends Never Die» solo exhibit is open to the public from Tuesday(09.24.13) — Friday(11.01.13). *Each art piece will be for sale &50% of the profits will go to the Children’s Miracle Network.*

You made my day vlounge! I’ve only been here a hand full of times and MANY times on the other side for bar 7, but honestly i didn’t know what i was missing on the lounge side. They offer a lounge, chill vibe with delicious pizza and a good selection of beer. Like everyone says, try the PRIMA! Thanks to Russel, im hooked for days on this pizza and will probably always order it every single time. I also highly recommend the roasted cauliflower with pesto, hold the anchovies, but if you like fish(and i don’t) then you order this! Always goes good with a pairing of blue moon!

Prima is winna! I love beer and pizza as much as the next guy, and this place serves the goods. The pizza is very good. The crust is airy and not oily. Prima is my favorite pizza for this place. I came here for Halloween and they had on a random horror flick that was cause for some interesting conversations and fun times! The bar is connected to Bar 7 and seems to put off a more laid back vibe than the bar 7 area, which is more like a club. I’ve been here during a busy night and I totally like bar more when it’s less crowded. I might sound like a old man, but it’s true.

Unilocal 31 days Challenge: 23⁄31 My quest for a prosciutto pizza started at Bar 35, however, they don’t open until 4pm, and no one picked up the phone, so I had to walk down there and try to place my order, but when I got there, they said that they don’t start the oven until 5pm. Then, I try to go to Inferno’s, but they ran out of prosciutto last night. Seriously, how can you run out??? Then, I tried Z Pizza, but they don’t offer it on their menu. How could they not??? After an hour of driving and searching, I decided to go to V Lounge, where I know they have a prosciutto pizza on their menu, just hope that they didn’t run out. I called them on the phone, they picked up quickly and took my order. My pizza was ready in 25 minutes, I scuffed down half of the pizza in 5 minutes. Lesson learned: Craving can be very dangerous!

This place just keeps getting better and better. — The music here is hipster cool. I dig it. — Service has gotten a lot friendlier. I really enjoyed our servers the last couple of times. — They have new specials. Their wood fired pesto cauliflower topped with white anchovies is amazing! — They no longer serve mushrooms of any sort, but the Prima pizza is still money.

This place has some serious pizza that puts all the brand name establishments to shame. Service was stellar as Amber took care of us throughout the evening. I was able to sample the Prima and Capicola pizzas which were awesome! I almost always go for The White Pizza if any joint has it on the menu, and V Lounge has a pretty good version, coming with Mozzarella, Ricotta Salatta, and topped off with arugula. The Crust is killer and perfectly done, but this white pizza is begging for some sweetness. Since you got saltiness from the Mozzarella and the peppery bite of the arugula, some roasted garlic would be nice, or even better, switch to a sweet, creamier ricotta and lose the salatta. If you’re ever looking for some serious ‘Za on Oahu, stop in at the V Lounge… ALOHA!!!

V Lounge has increased it’s menu to more items besides the Pizza and they are really good! The Pizza is back in top form from a few months ago when there was a change in Pizza Chef’s. Service is spot on with Amber who make the whole experience very enjoyable with her bubbly demeanor.
