A long overdue review, which should have been written about three months ago, until I got busy… I think I am the last to review. What a great time that was experienced by the many Unilocalers who attended the UYE Happy Hour at V Lounge, hosted by the dynamic duo of Michael C. and Jacob N. Happy Hour specials included $ 3 domestic beers + well drinks; if you wanted wine, it was BYOB. The two hosts displayed their generosity by bringing a varied selection of bottled and«black box» wines for all to share. While the spirits were flowing, delicious and creative specialty gourmet pizzas known for at V Lounge, were enthusiastically devoured and enjoyed by all. Baked in a kiawe wood brick oven, the pizzas have crispy thin crusts that are slightly charred on the outside and chewy in the inside + with generous, savory pizza toppings of Italian meats, cheeses, and veggies. Some of things Unilocalers sitting at our table ordered were: — Prima Pizza — pancetta(Italian bacon made from pork belly), fresh mozzarella, arugula, onions, thyme, tomato sauce, truffle oil, with a raw egg yolk in the middle. Sounds weird with the egg yolk, but it complemented the other toppings well.
— Sopressata Pizza — sopressata(Italian dry salami), fresh mozzarella, pecorino cheese(Italian cheese made from ewe’s milk), tomato sauce. — Chef Noelle Pizza — special pizza of the day, with fresh mozzarella, red onions, cilantro, chard, garlic, pepper, pancetta, lime.
— Roasted Cauliflower — cauliflower, pesto, chili flakes, white anchovies. Interesting and flavorful combination!
— Salad — Ma’o greens, balsamic vinaigrette Amazing drinks and superb pizzas/sides go well with unforgettable fellowship. So great to see fellow Unilocalers again to catch up on the latest, and even greater to make new Unilocaler friends! So cool to see Unilocal CM Emi H. and family enjoying the UYE instead of «working» at one! You could tell how much Unilocalers were enjoying themselves by the high decibel level at the lounge.
I must add, however, that something positive resulted from my procrastination in posting my review of this UYE. I befriended fellow Unilocaler Li Y. who shyly walked into the UYE while in full swing. There was an empty seat next on our table, so we told her to sit down and enjoy our company. As we each got to know each other better, Li noted that she didn’t really know too many Unilocalers, as she was not really active in Unilocal and did not have Elite status. Some of us gave her a rundown of what was happening in the Unilocal community, the benefits of being a Unilocaler, the Unilocal process, and what it meant to have Elite status. And now, three months later, Li Y. is an Elite Unilocaler and is presently very visible in the Unilocal community by providing input on the talk thread, regular posting reviews/photos, sending comps to other Unilocalers, always checking in to businesses/restaurants, commenting on her and other Unilocalers’ check–
