If you’re in a good mood or hungry at all I suggest taking your business else where. This is the second time I’ve gone in & ended up walking out. There is no organization to ordering and if you don’t know the people they literally are so RUDE! 3 people after me in line for to order and when I said something they just ignored me. The staff is too busy talking about their own lives and phone chargers then helping customers. One guy had a phone order and was out on hold 3 times while the worker talked negatively about him. I will not be returning. The prices were kind of steep and it’s cash only as well. When asked about the cash only this younger guy said«it’s the Italian way» whatever that means? Not paying taxes?

I have been going to S&J since the early 90’s when I worked across the street at Hyatts Garage & they had the Saturday special of ‘Buy 3 lbs of cold cuts, get 12 rolls free’. Have always loved their hot and cold subs, and their pasta salad is delicious. I recommend their chicken cutlet sub. Love that they still have their sub club promo going after all these years. A local favorite with easy on-off access from the Taconic Parkway.

Honestly, this could be one of the best Italian sandwich spots in the country. All freshly sliced meats and cheeses, freshly baked bread, and homemade mayos(garlic, pesto southwestern). Just stopped in the way through, and will make regular for trips!

I happened to be traveling North on Taconic and was in need of a quick bite to eat. I’m not a deli lover so I figured I’d look on Unilocal with hopes of finding something halfway decent. This Deli was very neat, clean and tidy. The food in the refrigerator case looked delicious. I ordered a BLT for myself, Cracked Pepper Turkey with Cheese and a Grilled Cheese for my little one. Everything was really yummy and the grilled cheese was really cheesy. The staff was also very friendly which is always a plus. I wish I lived closer bc I would use this as my deli…

2 yrs later, same great food, same people making it! My husband’s morning just couldn’t be happy without his breakfast sandwich, he stops for one on the way into our office every morning & says John has the best coffee around! And I forgot to mention the last time that for every 10 sandwiches purchased, you get one free! Can’t beat it! Thanks again guys!

A little bit of backstory: I’m rating this deli as a dumbass out-of-towner wearing a Red Sox hat who waltzed into a 100% townie deli run by a bunch of Italians relocated from the Bronx. The two guys behind the counter wouldn’t deign to look at or speak to me when I asked about one of the sandwiches, preferring instead to dish with one of the mouth-breathing regulars(who was ordering 20 lbs of assorted heart-attack meats) about his sweet Monte Carlo and lighting off«a mess of fireworks». The nicotine-addicted woman who did take my order kept hacking tar into her forearm like a terminal emphysema patient while she assembled my sandwich. I don’t know. Swing by if you’re a complete jackoff or enjoy diseased breath on your lunch meat. I found it all rather unpleasant.

Had a great wrap here for lunch. They have a really wide selection, the décor inside is very Deli-feeling. They are very friendly and you get a sense that the people who come in here are all regulars and are treated like family.

Love this deli. Nice and close to where I live. Great employees, super friendly. Take advantage of their sandwich cards! My only let down is that they stop doing breakfast sandwiches at 11am, but that’s a real little thing. Those of us who go out on friday and Saturday nights could appreciate why that could be an issue… Nonetheless, this place is great.

We pulled into this little strip mall after we got off-course trying to find a restroom. We found Dunkin Donuts and while I was waiting for our caravan to get their coffee fix I decided to use the Unilocal app to see what was nearby. Imagine my surprise when I found out we were steps away from the best Italian deli around. We weren’t stopping for lunch yet so under the guise of needing a cool drink I broke off from the group and entered a true East Coast deli. The smells, the sights, the sounds– all there. Friendly, friendly staff who told me everything was made fresh daily and showed me examples of it in the case. It all looked scrumptious! I quickly ordered a chicken salad sandwich for dad in case he got hungry on the way to lunch and in the hopes he might share — which he did and I was glad!

S&j saves the day with great sandwiches, subs right next to the Taconic Pkwy. Really this place is super friendly has outstanding food and a lot of unique special sandwiches which hit the mark! Prices good Staff friendly Food awesome My only critique is the no bathroom which doesn’t really work for travelers. That being said you can just go get a coffee at Dunkin next door which has a bathroom. Nice pull Unilocal

The best Italian deli around for miles! Get the Italian Combo wedge; it’s all Boar’s Head Capicola, Salami, Prosciutto, ham, sharp Provolone, raw onion, lettuce & tomato on fresh, crusty bread. And, they give you a CHOICE of what type of hot or sweet peppers you want on it. The Italian combo sandwich and the aroma of provolone cheese is my litmus test of a good Italian deli, and this is the best combo around. It’s a work of art, and ALWAYS made with a smile, a friendly chat, and a «thank you, come again!.» Another deli in Fishkill that I occasionally visit also makes a pretty good one, but the counter people(college kids) are usually annoyed when you order it. They roll their eyes and sigh. It’s a labor-intensive(and usually expensive) sandwich, so attitude towards the customer also counts in my book. I have also had hot catered food from S&J. I am a Scout leader, and they gave us very generous portions of delicious food for a large function(100+ people) that we had, all for a great price. Homemade meatballs, chicken cutlets, eggplant, all delicious.

A friend of mine lives nearby, and though I don’t live in the area, I stop into S&J every time we’re nearby for a wedge. The staff is courteous and friendly, the facility is clean and well organized, and the flavors and variety of food are unmatched for the area. You will not be disappointed.

I work right across the street from S&J, so I go there quite often. I’ve never been disappointed with a sandwich from there. The staff are all very friendly. Their Italian sandwiches(Italian combo, meatball parm) are the best I’ve ever had! I also love the Kickin’ Chicken sandwich(buffalo chicken AND jalapenos), and they have great inventive sandwich and wrap specials each day. Aside from just being a great deli, they also carry some Italian staples such as pasta and sauces. If you haven’t checked this place out, you definitely should. It’s my favorite deli in the area.
