The Lakeside grill is closed for the season but I am hoping that when it opens again for the summer that the menu will be better than it has in the past. Every summer we try it to see if they have figured out what people want and every summer they get it WRONG. It’s an outdoor venue and it’s casual and should have easy, no frill food. What’s wrong with hot dogs, hamburgers, taco salads, and nachos? A pizza oven would be amazing. People could eat in our take out. Kabobs would be nice. This shouldn’t be that hard to figure out. Please get it right in 2016

We’ve dined in the main dining room twice this week and both times the food and service were outstanding. You must get the fried lobster. It is devine! We also had the halibut and filet. All were delicious but a lot of food leftover so our excellent waiter Alex fixed us up. Their wine list is fairly good but not great. We all managed to find some nice bottles. We look forward to dining there again!

We stopped here on a Thursday night and were very pleased with the place. The service is great. Ambience is very country club but I don’t mind that. Ordered the braised beef short rib which was very good and very tasty and tender. Great top shelf margarita as well. Would definitely come back. Hubby had chicken and polenta and he enjoyed it as well. Views of Lake LBJ were great.

The food: The grill is ok. They recently redid their menu and we are sad to see the lobster rolls are no more. Very sad. The main dining room/restaurant can be hit or miss. The buffets are $ 40 a person and we do like the seafood one. The Texas BBQ was not so good. 3 stars The pools: The Yacht Club’s is great, but on the smaller side and it’s murder trying to find a chair. They REALLY need to improve on this. 4 stars. The drinks: Their menu is a little weird and the drinks are a little weird too. A lot taste synthetic or something. 3 stars. The lake: Fun. Smooth. Fun to jet ski and look at all the multi million dollar homes. 5 star. The members/visitors: Snooty f*$%s. 1 star. The beach: Great. Hours of fun for little kids to play in the sand and they have this walled off kitty pool section of the lake that’s totally safe and kids love it. 6 stars. Item of note, food and drinks can take FOREVER even when it’s not that busy.

A great new menu… a good selection of item from burgers to rib eye steak. The shrimp appetizer is a meal unto itself. Fried chicken on Sunday night. I enjoy their breakfast buffet… vast selection. Our service has always been good and food has promptly arrived

The formal dining area had low-quality hotel banquet style food. The prime rib buffet was a rip off, since it wasn’t your typical buffet. You were only allowed one thin(and fatty) slice of meat. I had to complain to get another piece for my still hungry 13-year old. Not worth it. At all.

This review is for the formal restaurant portion of the club. Like other reviewers noted, the discrepancies on dress code is annoying. Website says nice jeans ok, front desk info and staff say no jeans. Reality is that anything goes, appeared to have no dress code at all. People in all kinds of casual attire. They need to remove all of the silliness about the dress code from web and print or make it consistent. On to the food. I had the pork loin. It tasted exactly like an average meal I’d make at home on a Tuesday night. Couscous from a box and the pork was a little dry with no special seasoning.(not a great cook, this is why I love restaurants). My friend had the filet. Server asked her to cut into it, but left while she did it so he did not know she wanted it cooked more. We all waited forever for a staff member to come back. Steak was never cooked to her liking. Others at our table had the prime rib buffet. Said it was fine. Overall, food not great and overpriced. Service was slow and inattentive both at the bar and table. Here is why they get a second star… Manager comped the filet and came back a few times to check on us. Could not have been nicer. Same for both bartenders and waiter, when they were helping you, they were very nice people. So, second star for good folks.

First let me gripe about the dress code or lack of communication between the resort & the restaurant. Website said casual attire(jeans & sandals were ok) so this is exactly what we packed for our weekend getaway. The resort employee checking us in told us the restaurant was semi formal(collared shirt, dress pants, no shorts, no jeans & no open toe shoes) & the leaflet she provided reiterated the nice attire & the dress code was strictly enforced. We had to go shopping for a nice outfit so we could dine here(we were looking forward to the experience). Needless to say, we were annoyed to see other restaurant patrons wearing shorts, sandals & jeans. You have to leave a message when calling for reservations(instead of talking to a human) & wait for a call back. There were plenty of empty tables so «reservations required» is a bit pretentious. Then our food came & the disappointment continued! Bread rolls were semi cold. Onion soup was okay. Pork loin & couscous were both VERY bland & not worth the listed price of $ 30 something. I would’ve paid $ 15 max for that! I struggled to eat it but eventually gave up & the waiter took my plate. Husband’s fillet mignon was also meh. I tried his whipped potatoes & that too lacked flavor. I never knew you could mess up mashed potatoes. It’s mashed potatoes for heaven’s sake! His plate also included artichokes & it had a peculiar taste(as if it was soaked in some type of marinade for too long). We wanted dessert but figured it wouldn’t be good based on our dining experience thus so we passed. I would not return to this pretentious restaurant nor would I recommend it to anyone. You can’t charge high prices for bland & subpar food & expect patrons to return.

Sitting by the pool with a daiquiri in hand was great. The kids enjoyed the sand on the beach. The kids chicken strips with fries were really good. But $ 16 for 6 tiny shrimp seemed a bit much. Service was meh… I had to ask for cocktail sauce since the waiter forgot. Overall a good experience but I expected more from a yacht club. It was a REALLY slow weekend so we had to track down staff for a dry towel and drink orders.

This was a great experience. The food was excellent, the service superb, the ambiance was perfect. We went when they had a buffet special on a Wednesday night and we were so impressed. It is not an inexpensive restaurant, but for a special occasion it is well worth the money. They also have the best key lime pie I’ve ever eaten.

The Yacht Club is located on the Horseshoe Bay Marriott Resort. The Club has three eating areas, the formal dining area, Lakeside Grill, and the Y Bar. This review is for the Y Bar. The bar area is nice and very sleek. It’s lively too with TVs playing Sports games in the background. If you are looking for a lighter menu rather than having a steak then this is a good choice. The thin crust pepperoni pizza was pleasantly good. The Fish n chips were also good with lightly battered Fish and the Parmesan truffle fries were heavenly. The bartender was very friendly and kept checking on everyone at the bar. We got lucky with good food and good company this night.
