The sushi here has always been delicious in my opinion. The majority of the wait staff do an excellent job. There is ONE particular server that works there who really disappointed me during my last visit here. Other than that, the food is great.

Tonight’s dinner was truly disappointing. We ordered to go. All broth and no wontons in the wonton soup that made it home. Terrible packaging left most of the dinner on the bottom of the bag. That made for very soggy egg rolls which were served with no sauce for dipping. Also no crispy wonton strips for the soup. The sizzling wor bar was anything but! It was cold and tasteless. We won’t bother returning.

This used to be a great restaurant. However the past year it has gone drastically down hill. The food is terrible with the exception of the soup. I have given it 4 tries hoping it was an off day but will not give them another chance. The last straw was today when I received the worst service I’ve ever had. The waitress not only got the order to terrible food wrong but never came check on me. I had to flag her down for every single thing or ask a different waitress to fetch her so I could ask for something. I was not being a diva I simply wanted more duck sauce, extra napkins and a drink refill. There were 3 tables in use in the entire restaurant so it’s not like they were slammed. Not once did she apologize and almost seemed put out. Stay away from this place.

Wouldn’t recommend this place. The past few times we have been there, the fish isn’t fresh. The color and texture of the fish says it all.

The sushi at the bar on a Monday afternoon was delicious. We had a Hota Roll, and thin sliced sashimi. Our sushi chef define fly had an artistic flare.

Where do I begin… Let me first off start by saying, the service was fine and honestly the ONLY reason I am giving 2 stars. Food — Well, this is where I had the biggest dissatisfaction. I ordered two rolls, the Twilight and the Ultimate roll. Both sounded interesting and appetizing, however wish would have paid better attention that both were deep-fried. Menu descriptions are very misleading, if all those ingredients were present I would be surprised. Also, one roll said strawberry sauce… ok, worth a try, ended up being strawberry syrup(like you would eat on ice cream). Needless to say, it was extremely odd. As both were fried they were somewhat greasy, where one roll bust open in fryer and was rock hard on some pieces and swimming in grease. Décor — Its OK, however all over the place. Needs some updating and some uniformity. Very disappointed after reading the other reviews, and while I would like to chalk my food up to fluke, it has definitely swayed me from wanting to try Samurai Dragon again.

So so. I thought it would be better but presentation wasn’t bad so we will give the kitchen the benefit of a second try. Not supe flavorful. The coconut shrimp was not any different than the same thing frozen at SAMs club. I had the A2 roll because I didn’t think my hubby would eat spicy but it was uninspiring. Positive side? Try a dragons kiss. Yumm

Had a great time here. Loved the saki and sushi was on point. Not a bad thing on the menu. We didn’t get hibachi but it was still fun watching the chef. Thanks Susan and the friendly staff for making our night out in Houma the best.

I have been to this place twice. Once when they first opened(2007?). Their specialty sushi(s) were okay, but nothing exceptional. Also, in one of the rolls was an extremely long black hair wrapped around it, so long in fact that when tried to extract it, the entire piece of sushi flew out of my mouth and landed in my husband’s soup. Thinking back, the event makes me laugh now! Management comp’d all the food items and we paid for our drinks. I returned last week with a close friend. We had a fantastic coupon and therefore tried many items. 4 rolls(all boring and bland and similarly tasting even though the descriptions varied), shrimp tempura(very bland). I loved their Miso Soup. Queen K. had the Mushu Pork with Hot + Sour Soup. She liked them both.(Ordered to go: Mr Juicy loved the Hot + Sour Soup) The waitress was wonderful(Non-Asian, Caucasian in her thirties)! She realized we wanted to take our time and chat and made us feel extremely welcome. I only mention the first visit because it shows that the staff and management do what they can to make you happy. For that, I would give 4 stars. 3 Stars is for the food; which is what you really want to know about right? If I returned I would order the Miso or the Hot + Sour soups, maybe both! Queen’s K’s fortune cookie read«Your friend’s ass is bigger than yours». Okay that’s not true, but it did state«Don’t be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams.»

I’m giving this 5 stars because I’ve been to many Japanese eateries and I always, ALWAYS compare them to this place. I’m never disappointed in the service or the food. The sushi is excellent. I’ve been coming here for years especially when I was working downtown. Now that I’ve moved away, I don’t get here as often as I’d like. Brought my «city boy» boyfriend here for the first time a couple of months ago and he enjoyed it as well. One of the oldest running restaurants in downtown Houma… and one of the best.

Soup and some rolls are good. But last 2 times I got sushi to go, I had some spoiled fish. Samurai is way overpriced for food that is just average. We have LOTS of sushi choices in town… head to Osaka.

Great sushi and the best ginger dressing — love it!
