Reviewing this for 2014. Yes, im getting to this now LOL. Im very sadden by the closing of this restaurant which was open for a couple of years. We had a business dinner here and i must say, just like Vic’s, Flemmings, Brennan’s, III Forks, etc. serious is impeccable and inviting to say as least. I did forget what was my appetizer for my 3-course dinner. I believe it was the lobster bisque but wasnt sure, but it was an unforgettable experience. Dessert was so– but then again i’m not a sweet tooth person. The main course is(4.5÷5) Akaushi filet mignon, squash, and mashed potatoes by Master Chef Fritz Gitschner of course. Let me tell you, out of all the restaurants that have steak as their flagship, this one was PERFECT. Ordered it Medium and took my first cut. EFFORTLESS on cutting and slowly took my time as i couldnt believe it was like cutting butter. If you ever cut butter, you’ll surely know. Seasoned evenly and tasted as you expect from that kind of beef. I was on cloud 9 after that. With glasses of Chardonnay and Cabernet throughout the night with colleagues, i had to shake Cheft Fritz’s hand, but he was over the top buzy that night. Till next time if you have a new concept in Houston, im sure to see you sir!

With all the selections in Houston, this doesn’t stand out on my list. Ordered the Pork Belly to start off with & honestly, I’ve had better for cheaper. Their Steak Burger was definitely not worth $ 32 — I can get an even better burger here in Austin for half the price. For an establishment that boasts fine meats, their Rib Eye left much to be desired. Might be a good spot for HRW, but you’re better off spending your bucks somewhere else.

Came here for Valentine’s Day which was a prix fixe menu — an appetizer, soup or salad, entrée, and dessert. Oysters Rockefeller: 4⁄5 Cream of Cauliflower Soup with Caviar: 4⁄5 Petit Filet Mignon: 4⁄5 Orange Crepes Suzette: 5⁄5 Service: 3⁄5 — we arrived at 8:30 for our evening reservation and were seated in about 10 minutes. There were many other couples there and it took ~ 30 – 40 minutes for our appetizer to come out after our order was placed. Once the appetizer came out, the other dishes came out fairly quickly.

My first experience dining at 60 Degrees was pretty good. I came here one Sunday for Brunch. Although brunch at $ 37 per person is pricey, the food is tasty and of good quality. There is a lot of food as well and you will leave full. Their brunch concept is unique, and I liked it. In addition to the brunch buffet, you also get an entrée. I tried the chilaquiles which were pretty good. The chicken and waffles looked good as well. As for the buffet options, there was plenty to choose from. There’s a little something for everyone and everything I tried, from the salads and smoked salmon to the deviled eggs, campechana and dessert crepes was good. There was always someone there to answer any questions about what was being brought out, and there was PLENTY of food. Make sure you save some room for the dessert buffet. The service overall was good. Valet parking was quick. I’ll definitely come back, maybe for dinner next time.

No matter the temperature outside, the temperature inside is always regulated above 60 degrees. The name doesn’t refer to the temperature, but rather the concept of the ranch to table concept. Everything from the name to the décor has elements of the ranch where 60 Degrees Mastercrafted gets their vision and beef from. The beef served here is of the same quality of Kobe beef, making it a worthy adversary for any Japanese restaurant, but this is local Texas grown beef. There is street parking, but like most neighborhoods inside the loop, you’ll find that this restaurant also has limited parking around the neighborhood it is in. They do offer valet, as most places inside the loop do, but you are not forced in to using the valet parking. In other words, you’re not forced in to paying for parking, but it’s probably a more convenient option since the street parking is a little more limited. The dining area is average sized, but the noise level is off the charts loud due to the design of the room with a couple vaulted ceilings, hard floors, and hard tables. It’s a gorgeous setting, but it needs a little more noise control to make it a truly exceptional dining experience. No table linens on these tables because they want to display the old distressed wood that was recovered from a torn down farm house. These little touches give the restaurant a very unique feel. The food is outstanding. I dined here during HRW(Houston Restaurant Week) and found the menu to only be scratching the surface as to how good the food really is. The salad course was fantastic with the watermelon and goat cheese selection. The watermelon had been brined for a couple days making it a perfectly unsweetened complement to the goat cheese and balsamic vinegar. The fish was perfectly prepared; fish is very easy to overcook and they didn’t. The desserts were fantastic as well with a very enjoyable surprise to the frozen orange soufflé being better than what I expected. I love this restaurant and found that all the staff, including our server Robert, excelled with their expertise, service, and knowledge. The large outdoor patio is perfect for brunch or good weather dining, while inside is perfect for any time of year. The bar is small, but intimate, making it an ideal spot to grab a cocktail before dinner. Overall, this is a great dining experience and not to be missed for foodies that truly appreciate having an exceptional meal with beautiful Texas ranch inspired décor.

Great service from Rebecca ! I HADTHEMOSTAMAZINGBURGERHERE. Life Changing. Haha, but if you’re a foie Gras and truffle lover you will definitely love this burger. It is so tasty and the meat is so juicy. Definitely Worth the Money.

It’s awkward to find the entrance due to road construction, but the actual entrance is on the side street, not on Westheimer. I started with a glass of Prosecco, which was lovely. I decided just to order a main dish and save lots of room for dessert. The Cioppino is amazing, I ate nearly every bite. It was chock full of seafood and just as good as any I have ever had. We shared the pecan pie, cheesecake and truffle cake for dessert. I thought the truffle cake was the standout of the group. My husband enjoyed his short ribs, but I much preferred the Cioppino. The service was a bit slow, but friendly.

Ambience is nice and it seems like a great place to take a first date. Quiet, quaint, menu is pleasing. I had one of the their signature martini’s — it was tasty and light, set the palate for the meal. Okay, here’s the rub… don’t come here if you’re hungry and make sure your debit card has adequate funds to cover if your cash flow is light. It’s a little expensive $$$ definitely worthy of the $$$ rating. I had the chicken schnitzel and a side of onion rings($ 40). The Schnitzel was dry and tasteless, I used the pickled cucumbers to add some flavor to the thin, tasteless meat. My wife had the rib yeah I said it right — the rib — and the cheese grits. She said it was tasty but $ 30 bucks for a rib is a little ridiculous. I get it, this is an upscale restaurant who’s intent is to offer exotic dishes… again, it was more or less expensive tapas if you asked me. I would recommend this restaurant if you’re having some out of town guests you want to impress or if you’re trying to close a big business deal, but as far as a night on the town with the wife — there’s much better places in Houston to visit. This doesn’t meet the«everything is Big in Texas» mantra. Overall not bad, but I don’t see myself making it back here anytime soon…

This was a wonderful experience during Houston Restaurant Weeks, and it was well worth its value! Only one of us opted for a wine pairing, but my husband and I went sans-alcohol with dinner. We all began with appetizers. I had the black olive crusted scallops with tomato-fennel conifer, fried caper blossoms while my friend had oysters gratin on succotash with andouille and craw-fish; and, my husband opted for Akaushi beef carpaccio with baby arugula, black pepper, hill country virgin olive oil. There were no complaints around the table. We loved our first course. For our second course, my friend along with my husband opted for the watermelon spiced on heirloom tomato salad while I decided to go for a chilled peach soup martini and it arrived in a martini glass! It was divine! We just couldn’t wait for our third course, the«Main Course» and since I was already please with the first two courses, I was more than ready! I opted for the steak that was accompanied by fork smashed potatoes, and a bouquet of fresh garden vegetables while my husband and our friend opted for the lamb shoulder with couscous and yogurt sauce. I don’t like a lot of fat on my meat, so I didn’t opt for the lamb. My steak, however, was done exactly as I like it — juicy but flavorful(and not too dry). After this, I was ready for dessert! And, our final course was dessert, and we each opted for something different. I opted for a frozen orange soufflé that arrived in a citrus soup, a sesame tulle and lemon balm garnish. My husband opted for a classic with a twist: coconut tres leches cake with cream and chocolate garnish. Our friend opted for a chocolate truffle cake with wild turkey ice cream and an almond cookie wafer. I’m not a fan of wild turkey, so that was out of the question for me. Aside from the food being delectable, the service was wonderful! Orders arrived promptly, glasses of water were filled periodically, and we weren’t bothered too much either. This is a great place for a romantic date or if you have a client who really wants a $ 200.00 burger!

Dined here for the first time on Tuesday and I was pretty impressed! We were seated right away despite being an incomplete party. From the valet to the hostess stand to the servers to the managers, everyone was very welcoming and attentive. Service was a bit slow but the food does make up for it. We didn’t realize how filling and comforting the food was until we were all about to explode! For my main course I shared the Seared Akaushi Beef Tips and Horseradish Crusted Akaushi Beef Short Rib and also ordered a side of White Truffle Mac n Cheese. Both beef dishes were so tender and full of flavor! For the Mac n cheese, oh my, it was too die for! Be sure to try it, you will not regret it.

First HRW restaurant where I actually enjoyed all four courses!!! I usually don’t like preset menus, but for the sake of charity, hell yea I’ll do it. Complimentary valet. Check Hostess. Check Bartender. Check. met David the Bartender, and while we waited for the rest of the party he concocted a unique shot for us, and also ordered the SANLEONMARTINI. Which is their version of a dirty martini-hell yes!(He also mentioned WINEDOWNWEDNSDAYS for ladies night) Then off to the table. Waiter was foreign and awesome. Overall service was quick, friendly, and spot on. First course: BLACKOLIVECRUSTEDMANNADELEON SCALLOP-hell yes-perfectly cooked and fried capers!!! Second course: SPICEDWATERMELON-HEIRLOOMTOMATO SALAD-yessss-the heirlooms was bomb AF w the watermelon. Balsamic dressing. olive oil. And THATTEXASGOATCHEESE. OMGGG. I think they whipped it or something but it was creamy smooth . Third course: AKAUSHIBISTRO STEAK-good.not excellent. but enjoyable mos def– that fork mashed potatoes were bomb. seasonal veg was on point. Fourth course: COCONUTTRES LECHES-OMFGGG-this was such a amazing night cap for me. I mean. Tres leches. Coconut. And chantilly cream. Need I say more? So yea overall my favorite HRW joint. I ate EVERYTHING. To the last capers from my scallops. To the last micro greens from my salad. From the last remains of the mashed potatoes. And that tres leches i left one bite left bc I felt like a fat ass. Seeing that my friends surrendered their spoons way before me. But now I’m regretting it so much. I DONTWASTEFOOD. Side note: I enjoyed the wine pairing for additional $ 25 but the only thing I didn’t like was the dessert pairing. It was too sweet for my taste. Other than that. Can’t wait to be back! Hey reminder. DAVIDTHEBARTENDERWASUBERAWESOMEANDTALENTEDATHISLINEOFWORK! HIGHLYRECOMMENDED !! HATSOFFTOZECHEFTOO!

SUMMARY: There’s a lot of nice restaurants in Houston(including this one), but at this price point, there are other choices with better ambiance. PROS: My husband and I went here for Houston Restaurant Week. Overall, the food was good — not knock-your-socks-off but definitely a good meal — and the portions were the perfect size for a four-course meal — on the smaller size but definitely plenty of food. For the food alone, I would have given it four stars. CONS: However, because the restaurant is so loud and because you are seated so close to neighboring tables, it was difficult to have a conversation with one another. Our service was also slow — not just«we’re a nice restaurant, so we’re going to let you enjoy your four-course meal slow» — the two couples seated to either side of us that both arrived and ordered the restaurant week menu(like us) got their fourth course and their bill before us. We were there about three hours. Another note: As mentioned on several reviews, the parking is valet, but you can park on a nearby street, and it’s not a far walk.

My friend and I decided to try this place for Houston Restaurant Week because the menu looked pretty good. I placed a reservation through Unilocal for 7pm the week prior to our dinner date. For parking, they have complimentary valet(tips accepted) but I decided to park around the corner because there was plenty of parking on the street. It could be a little shady at night though. When I walked into the restaurant, the hostess couldn’t find my reservation. I even showed her my email confirmation and yet she still couldn’t find it. Another hostess came along and I was passed on to her to assist me with getting a table. The second hostess found out that the restaurant had marked me down as already being seated which meant my friend and I had to wait another 20 minutes for a table which is ridiculous for having a reservation to begin with. The hostess tried to explain that they were overbooked and overcrowded but if you can’t handle that many people, then you shouldn’t have taken so many reservations with large groups. After waiting about 20 minutes, my friend decided she couldn’t wait anymore and asked if we could just eat on the patio which is another thing. Why do the customers have to ask to be seated outside? That should be a given option that the hostess offers us. When the hostess walked us to the patio(which btw, there was only one other group outside) she handed us our menus which turned out to be lunch menus, not dinner menus. I had to ask the waiter to receive the correct menus for HRW and after that our experience was better. Our waiter did admit that he was slammed with numerous tables and that the hostess didn’t space it out for him at all. The food overall was good. They are smaller portions since you receive four dishes instead of three. The Akaushi Bistro Steak was probably my favorite. It was perfectly cooked and the sides paired nicely with it. The reason why I’m rating this restaurant two stars instead of one is due to our waiter. He tried to be attentive as he could be with all of his tables and timed our dishes accordingly. I do feel bad for the guy because the table next to us stiffed him on a tip. If the restaurant could change their hostesses and reservation system, I would come back for another meal but until then I’ll try other restaurants with overall better service.

I went here for HRW. Parking: When you get to the restaurant they do have complimentary valet for their parking lot. Basically you can’t park your own car there. I really don’t like that. I think there should be a choice if you want to valet or not. This knocked them down a star bc I prefer to park my own car. Drive straight down and it curves to the left. There’s plenty of street(parallel) parking. Food: For my appetizer I ordered the curry chicken with apples. It was actually a cold soup in a martini glass. I wanted to try something new and the other two option was salad and smoked salmon. I didn’t regret my decision but I had three friends order the same thing and they would have preferred something else. For my entrée I ordered the sea bass. The meat was tender and smelled good. The top of it was blacked which gave it so much flavor. There were thin pieces of Parmesan in the dish with barley and white bean. The portion was European portions. Small. I’m used to American servings. The sea bass was divine! I told the chef that when I left. Someone commented on here that it was so good that they wanted to lick the plate, it is really that good. For my dessert– crème brûlée. It was delicious and came with 2 white chocolate sticks. I would recommend eating the crème brûlée and the chocolate sticks together. Yummy! I would recommend this restaurant especially for HRW. I know I’ll be back to try their HRW dinner. I know they will not disappoint.

HRW2014LUNCH I love it! I’d recommend it! It was a weekday so I came in wanting something light but still yummy and I got just that! 60 degree chopped salad(GF): I love salads and especially the vinaigrette and candied pecans on this one. Blackened sea bass(GF): the bass was cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed having barley in this dish. white chocolate crème brûlée(GF): this was good! my only complaint would be, why is it so small?!(jk) maybe it’s for my own good! one of my friend ordered something different for her entrée, the chicken piccata and I couldn’t stop picking off her plate!

This was an unfortunate disappointment. I had some fairly high expectations for this restaurant but alas, they were not met. Pros: efficient valet nice décor decent selection of wine and some draft beers pleasant service Cons: very loud(nothing to absorb sound, lots of echoing) inexperienced service(our menus were still on the table even after receiving food) speed of service(food came out way too fast) Food — see below Pork Belly grilled asian braised, satay sauce, kimchi vegetable slaw, lotus chips: I was very excited. Everything on the plate was beautiful and tasted great except… the PORKBELLY :(Pork belly needs to have a nice ratio of fat to meat, but this was 98%+ pure fat. Inedible — I SENT.IT.BACK. I don’t know that I have ever sent a dish back, which speaks volumes. Jumbo Lump Crab Cake smoked tomato aioli, fennel-herb salad: This was probably the best dish of the night — lots of lump crab meat, fresh fennel salad Hamburger Soup sour cream, cheddar cheese, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, crisp pepper bacon lardons — like a cross between a hamburger and baked potato soup. Interesting and fairly tasty Akaushi Rillette house made assorted condiments, coarse grain mustard, harvest bread: I was also excited about this, but it failed to deliver. The rillette was WATERY, which is bizarre. Like the pork belly, the accoutrements were much better than the main part of the dish. Onion Rings Stack, amazon, raspberry-bbq, blue cheese dipping sauces: too much breading. Onions sweet, sauces good White Truffle Mac & Cheese: truffle a bit overpowering. Top was nice, but underneath, again, watery. What is going on with the moisture content in this place? Passion fruit cheesecake: passion fruit gelee on top was nice, cheesecake not too sweet, and the crust. was. WET. Seriously? There wasn’t a sauce or anything that would have contributed to this, and I have to assume it wasn’t meant to feel like a tres leches on the bottom. I will probably not return unless someone else wants to eat there. If so, I’ll probably stick to a steak, which seems to be a safe option. With so many great restaurants in the city to compete with, I’m not sure how they will survive without making some changes.

Loved my first experience at 60 degrees mastercrafted this past week. In case you’re curious, the name comes from the 3 angles of the equilateral triangle, which illustrates how 60DMC forms the perfect triangle of service, supplier, and restaurant(I think?). Anyhow, it’s a very fancy name for a pretty fancy restaurant(at least by my standards… perhaps by River Oaks standards it was casual, hah). Parking lot has plenty of spots. When I first arrived, I didn’t realize there were lines drawn in the center of the lot for a row of cars to park(I did wonder why the parking lot was so large though), so I parked around the corner across from some apartments. Good to know. Service here was great — friendly and professional staff, timely deliveries of appetizers/food, water was always filled, plates always cleared. The master chef himself stopped by to check on how we were doing, too. What a classy touch :) But it’s the food that was amazing. This place is known for their Akaushi beef, which you get a spiel about upon sitting down. Apparently these are Texas cattle descended from their ancient Japanese ancestor cattle, which live on a mountain somewhere in Japan(so random). What’s cool about this beef is that it’s the healthiest yet tastiest beef out there. Yes, please! We started with the campechana appetizer, a shrimp and crabmeat salad of sorts with a tomatoey dressing and other goodies. It was super refreshing and savory, with tons of chunks of seafood balanced by the dressing. For my entrée I had the BBLT, which is a lunch-only item(akaushi beef, bacon, lettuce, tomato). I loved how 60dmc put its own twist on this classic favorite — the tomatoes were breaded then fried green tomatoes and there was a cajun sauce drizzled on the toasted brioche bun that elevated an already great burger. What stood out by far was the beef itself — it wasn’t heavy or greasy at all, but still had a wonderfully beefy flavor without being dry or crumbly. Perfect burger and with a price point of $ 12.50, I’d most definitely re-order. The home fries were $ 4 for a side and they were tasty but I don’t think I’d get them again. For dessert, we sampled the chocolate hazelnut crunch mousse(so decadent and rich and comes with toasted, candied hazelnuts… mmm) and the passionfruit cheesecake(tasty like most cheesecakes are, topped with a tart-sweet passionfruit gel). Will definitely be returning, esp for more of that exceptional Akaushi beef!

From the excellent customer service to the amazing food and cocktails, this new restaurant gets 5 Stars! The menu offers something for everyone. The burgers are great! I had the turkey burger with no bun. Another friend had the Korean Burger and he could not finish it, he loved it! My two girlfriends had the 60′ Chopped Salad and the Stetson salad, they came in good sized portions. The Stetson Salad is a must try! Needless to say we all loved our food and service!
