Below average. Brisket was over done, grey and dry. Turkey is ok. Sauce is spicy and thin. Will not return. There are too many other places with much better food.

Check out the chicken fried chicken and fried okra. The chicken cut is nice and thick with not too much breading. And the fried okra is great!

As generic as BBQ can get. No flavor at all in the brisket, vegetable sides are nothing more than canned veggies dumped into a bowl. Very disappointing for the price.

Good food. The lunch specials are not obvious on the menu but are a good value. Heard several people rave about the hamburgers and a few were adding an extra patty for a buck when ordering. Will eat here again. Probably should give it 4 stars but nothing stood out.

I been here a few times and each time the food was very good. I like the fact that there is seating next to a wall with several outlets so that you can charge your device if needed. They have several TVs on the wall to watch as you partake. You order at the counter when you come in and someone will deliver your order to your table. I have tried their meat plates and you are given BBQ sauce as they are cooked without any. They aren’t as juicy as other places but they are thoroughly cooked. Their sides are in small saucers and not as much as I might like, but along with the main courses it does the job. Today I had the 1 lb BBQ potato. It comes stuffed with cheese, sour cream and brisket on top. It is a load to eat! They also run daily specials for lunch, and sometimes there is a discount when you check in on Unilocal. It was 15% off today! It is free refills on your fountain drinks and teas. The service has been good every time I have come here and I will put them on my lunch rotation.

Come in for pick-up almost weekly, staff is always friendly and eager to please. Food is always delicious, and high quality BBQ for the price. Convenient location right off of the highway.

Always a true BBQ experience! The fried okra is a must, their smoked brisket is tender, potatoes are Texas size, and the fixings bar has different kinds of peppers. Their homemade Bbq sauce is always warm in a syrup jar, so you can pour it on anything or straight in your mouth because it’s just that darn good! Never disappointed at 7 Rivers!

This place is nice. The staff are SUPER nice and very helpful. The BBQ is pretty good. Not the very best I’ve had but pretty good. I liked their sides a lot especially the potato salad. I would go back. They have breakfast tacos so I want to try those.

I live near by & have eaten here few times. Food always bland & barbecue sauce is horrible but living do close I like to give restaurants a few chances. The last time I returned I ordered the pecan pie for dessert. From the looks of it was horrible & probably frozen then thawed. I didn’t even get a warning that their pie was microwaved & my 1yr old scorched her mouth. All I got from management was a stupid dumbfound look. Next time don’t have your dishwashers works as waiters you bunch of idiots. Your lucky my daughters burn wasn’t severe. Fyi food sucks

Stopped in for lunch and had two meat plate with cole slaw and Mac and cheese. The guy waiting on me seemed a little put off that he had to take my order. Made my way to the table and the food was brought out quickly with a girl and a smile. Ribs were a little dry but very tasty. The sausage was spicy and good. The slaw lacked a little sweetness but was good. The Mac and cheese was good and creamy with plenty of cheese. The BBQ sauce was tomato based and seemed like a pizza BBQ sauce. It was spicy and not too bad. I would come back as it is close to work. The smoky flavor was good on the meat.

I ordered the 2 meat BBQ plate witch I got brisket, hot links coleslaw, and potato salad. The brisket has no flavor, its dry. And they cut it thin so its not tuff. The hot links not that hot. My gf got the BBQ potato she said it was good. Couldn’t eat it all cuz she got full. The only reason I came here is cuz we stay close to it. And had a 15% off BBQ plater. The staff is friendly.

The bad things with 7 Rivers overshadow the fact that I think their food is actually pretty good for restaurant bbq. The ribs were good, the chicken ¼ was even better. The sides I had(potato salad & mac & cheese) weren’t anything memorable but decent. The ribs aren’t fall off the bone tender but cooked well enough. I’m in love with bbq chicken thighs and the one I had here didn’t disappoint. The brisket was more fatty than I wanted but yummy as well. The meat isn’t smoked outside in a big pit like the best home style bbq but it really is one of the better bbq spots around the EC/Katy area. The tomato based bbq sauce is needed but it has a spicy little kick so I like it. So you ask, Peezy if you like the bbq so much, why such a low rating? Too many questionable things witnessed during my 2 visits. On the first visit, I really questioned why okra was an extra $.79 if you wanted it as a side. It totally makes sense to have an up charge on the onion rings and sweet potato fries since they are priced more on the menu. The okra is the same price as the«regular» sides. The guy clearly got annoyed at me questioning this but someone needs to point out the flaw in that logic… that someone was me that day. The 2nd visit, I saw some serious germy issues going on. I saw a worker seated on one of the bottom kitchen counters eating a plate of food. If that wasn’t a little suspect enough, the cook was standing at the fryer and I saw him chewing multiple times while he was cooking. Bruh you are not at home! Then a really nice employee was cleaning up the pickle/onion area and a few pickles had gone overboard. She used her bare hands to pick them up and throw them back in the container. I really can’t deal! Even if I was not a germaphobe, to see these things in a restaurant just doesn’t look right and turns me off. Again this is not your home kitchen… I just need them to be more mindful. Not saying I won’t return but it really makes you wonder what you don’t see if they do all that in the open and think it’s acceptable. Well I did return a 3rd time and cooking and eating at the same time was witnessed again. smh too much

We’ve been coming to 7 Rivers since they opened and have always had the best food. Hot, fresh, crazy large portions, this is hands down one of our family’s favorite places to eat. The giant chopped BBQ potato is a must have!

Food is always good, fast and not over priced. Beer is cold, variety is good and always plenty of games on the TVs. I like the drive through when I’m late getting home from work, I call my order in and pick it on my home. In & out quick without getting out of the car.

I only gave it four stars because they do not serve hard alcohol, beer and wine is good but I would come here once a week if they had margaritas!!! I enjoyed the chipped chicken sandwich the ribs are the most moist and flavorful I have tasted since moving back here two years ago. The fried okra is… I’m speechless.

11/7/1311:37am — Typical Houston gasser BBQ. Yet another example that all you need in Houston is a great sauce, a gasser and you are in the BBQ restaurant and catering business. I scored 7 Rivers a 73 out 100. Regional Texas BBQ. Smoke: Green Oak. The Old Hickory is proudly displayed in the back in a glass enclosure. Bright and shiny stainless tasteless steel. The owner with great pride announced he only needs 2 sticks to smoke his BBQ. Any wonder why I hate gassers?! Brisket: Good. Standard 1/8in smoke ring beneath a paper thin bark. Thinly sliced, tested tough of tender. Very little smoke and was basically dry roast beef. Use the sauce. Ribs: Fair. Slightly overcooked soft bite clean bone tender and moist. Had a mushy peppery rub. No sign of smoke ring, just brown pork. Little smoke. Use the sauce. Sausage: Very Good. A beef link with traditional spice and good after taste. Little grease and little smoke. Overall flavor was good. I enjoyed this link. No sauce needed. Sauce: Very Good. Served warm. Tomato based and very tangy. It has a subtle spiciness that started out soft but finished strong. This stuff could make anything taste good. Use it with every bite.

It was OK. Rudys much better for me. Liked the atmosphere and service was good and attentive, but food was disappointing. Brisket was OK, ribs werent good and potato salad isnt how I like it. Oh well… I wont be back simply because its not good food to my liking, but place is OK and you might like it.

Based on Unilocal, decided to give 7 Rivers a shot. Ordered the family dinner(feeds 3 – 4) and a rack of ribs. The brisket was very lean with a good smoke ring. Meat was tender and cooked well but not real smokey. The sausage was average, not homemade but still acceptable. The ribs were a surprise. Very meaty but more towards the spare rib rather than trimmed baby backs. Ribs were were tasty and needed no sauce. Sides were very good and big portions. Beans were spices and tasty. The potato salad was a mustard style yum, with new potatoes with skins still on. The sauce was subtle with two distinct flavors. A bit sweet for my tastes but fine and had a nice vinegar highlight. In all, good value, great portions, and good service. Not the best in Houston, but very good and we will return. One of the top two or three BBQ for far west Houston or Katy. Update: Oct 4… returned and this time ordered a turkey stuffed extra large baked potato. My wife loved it and unusual for her, ate the whole thing, and it was very large. We also order the ribs and a lb. of brisket. 7 Rivers has upped their game… the brisket was very lean and had a nice smoke ring, just like I like it. The ribs were heavy on the rub, yum! I would give them 4 ½ stars for the food. Better than the Texas Monthly top 50 places I have tried in Houston. 7 Rivers is now in our food rotation…
