A-1 Freeman Moving Group, Inc.

I hired A-​1 for move coordination and storage of my property in a supposed conditioned space. The agent was the younger brother of a high-​school friend and I thought he would watch out for me and my things. Wrong. International moves that were contracted out went great. But my property that was STORED ON THEIR SITE for over six years is another matter. The driver showed up at my new location without a copy of the inventory and refused to check the numbered boxes with my copy of the original inventory. My sofa was not on the truck — -7 weeks later, I’m still waiting for its delivery. They lost one of two leaves to my dining room table — you would think they would have been stored together??? They lost half the pieces to an antique armoire that has been in my family for years – you would think since all the pieces were the same size, they would be stored together??? They lost a bookcase, a chair, an antique wicker desk, a reproduction Queen Ann tea table and over 20 boxes of my belongings with artwork, family heirloom tablecloths, and saved children’s toys. They blew off my concerns and did not even ask for pictures of my property so they could refer to them as they looked for my lost items. My guess is they didn’t even look. They have extremely poor communication, don’t answer emails, or respond to voice mails. Horrible, horrible experience.

I normally do not take time to write reviews, but I am very disappointed with my experience so I felt the need to take the time on this one.
I had scheduled an in home estimate with their representative, Bill Brock. He was scheduled for June 3^rd at 5:30 pm and we had to reschedule to June 4^th at 6 pm. Three hours before that appointment he called me and was asking to come early because «he was too busy at 6 pm.» We were home and he said he would be here shortly, then immediately asked if we could do 1^st thing the next morning because he «had so many other quotes to work up.» While on the phone he asked a lot of questions which had been asked by your representative when I scheduled the appointment. Upon his arrival he asked all the same questions again.
The entire time he seemed frazzled and out of sorts. He kept asking these same questions about our move over and over again and got visible upset that I was already packing my belongings in boxes, when I had made it clear that I was going to be packing my house, I just needed it loaded on the truck and moved.
After his inspection of the items to be moved he made it very clear that he had «A LOT of estimates to work up» but he would be getting us our quote «sometime this evening, or tomorrow, but I have A LOT to work on.» I was made to feel very much a last priority. I understand being busy, but as a business person, you should not let the customer know, nor make them feel responsible for your work. Since when is having too many customers a bad problem? Doesn’t that mean more money for your business?
That was on Thursday, June 4^th. I did not hear back from Bill that evening, or the next. In fact, I did not hear back from him at all. I emailed him Wednesday, June 10^th to ask when my quote would be ready. His email response was «Call me please.» Immediately after receiving the email response, I called him. I told him who I was and he seemed very confused as to who I was and that he had even been out to my house. I was told I would have a quote that evening.
Here we are, Monday, June 15^th, and I have yet to receive a phone call, email or anything regarding a quote for my move. I wanted to let you know that your representative, Bill Brock, is not representing your company very well. He has not followed through with a quote, contacted back to update nor was his demeanor while in my home something that made me very comfortable using this company, A-​1 Freeman, and we will not be using this company for this move, or any other in the future.

Terrible experience. Look elsewhere! Like the other posters, I experienced the worst customer service ever. I have moved across the country several times so I know this is not how it works! From estimates, to packing materials, to moving, to billing… there were communication problems every step of the way and it was extremely stressful! I am convinced the salesman is on something because nobody is that forgetful. He also acted angry about everything. A-​1 Freeman has a serious problem!

These folks are awesome. We have used them twice and they were great both times. On time, efficient and professional. I highly recommend them.

I do not recommend this company at all. This was my absolute worst moving experience! From the time after receiving my quote through the actual relocation, I experience one of the worst customer services experiences of my life. I previously had only worked with an apartment moving company to change apartments within the same city, and that was a great experience. I was clear with the salesperson that I wanted all of the furniture packed and moved, and emphasized that this was my first time working with a moving company for such a large move (I was in a house) across the country. Nothing I asked for happened, and communication from the sales rep was practically nonexistent. In fact, had to practically beg for a revised quote prior to my move.
Several days after the estimate was sent, I e-​mailed and called the salesperson several times for a revised quote because I did not need to move my washer and dryer with me, yet I did not receive a response. Several other companies with whom I had been corresponding were quickly and easily able to give me a revised quote. I had to call his supervisor and emphasize that I really wanted to work with A-​1 Freeman but had not received a revised quote from the salesperson. Only then did he finally e-​mail a quote that was about fifty dollars less once I removed the washer and dryer. I contemplated hiring a different moving company after this experience, but read so many positive reviews about A-​1 that I decided this was just a small issue that was not a reflection of how my actual move would proceed. I was wrong!
Fastforward to the actual day of the move, and it seems there were a bit of miscommunication between the salesperson and movers in regards to my move. The delivery date was wrong and my instructions for packing my items was never mentioned to the drive. The only time I received a call from the salesperson WITHOUT having to call a manager was when A-​1 was ready to charge me more fees for arriving a bit late to my destination due to a tire blowout on the road.
I encourage consumers to think twice about working with this company.

We have moved several times out of state and this was by far THE WORST! We went with A-​1 Freeman because we were told our belongings would go from our house to a storage vault and then that vault would be brought to us when we were ready to move in. I’m pretty sure it never went into a vault and because of that, we have a good list of items that are missing. After being assured that a month was plenty of lead-​time to get our things delivered, we were never assigned a driver and only after calling several times daily did our belongings show up a week later than we were guaranteed. Did I mention that when our things did show up there were only 2-​drivers to unload our 3100 square foot house? After more than 12-​hours of unloading the truck, we opened our boxes to find damaged and missing items. It was one of the worst experiences I have ever had!
