Had no idea there was a park here. It’s a nice area next to UH-Downtown with lots of history. Some events are held here. Was here for the annual Dragonboat races which was fun to watch. Some vendors were there as well as a demo booth for cooking tips, martial arts demo, and dragon dances. Will be back for next year’s Dragonboat Festival and will keep an eye out for future events at Allen’s Landing

First time at Allen’s Landing was 5/7/11…I have to admit that I had no clue that anything remotely appealing existed along Buffalo Bayou in downtown Houston. Needless to say, I was plesantly surprised! The Dragon Boat Race was going on Saturday so I decided that this would be my perfect time to make the trek downtown and check out this locale and boy I am glad I did. Buffalo Bayou is scerene and the foliage around the water is well kept yet maintains its«in the wild» look. Not to mention the history of Allen’s Landing. I am told this is Houston’s Plymouth Rock… It was here in 1836 that August C. and John K. Allen stepped ashore and claimed Houston as their own. There are walking paths and a decent amount of green space-perfect for kicking back on a blanket and enjoying the outdoors. If you are looking for swings and jungle gyms, this is not the place, however if you want a nice quiet place to walk or read a book or even jog, this is it! I am a fan!
