I’m going to start out with the good stuff: The yuca fries are delicious, and the Amazon burger wasn’t too shabby. The empanadas were delicious as well. The bad: The place just felt tired and worn out. The outside wasn’t as nice as I expected, and the inside felt old and outdated. I was really put off by the fact that the tables were«upholstered,» and the booths seemed old and dusty. This place seriously needs a face lift. I was surprised that there was no table service(they sure do have a line for a tip on your credit card receipt, though). You order at the counter(similar to Berryhill, except Berryhill actually has table service to an extent), and then you have to come get your food yourself. I’m fine with serving myself, but don’t ask me for a tip. The guacamole tasted old and was just ok. The plantain-crusted chicken was just not hopping off of the plate like I hoped it would be. It was served with a giant think slice of cheese(cheese is great, but this was a little strange). I was also a little confused by the name. It seemed to be more Tex-mex type food, but it’s name is Amazon Grill? Bottom line, we probably won’t be returning.

This used to be one of my favorite go-to restaurants in Houston. During this past visit, though, I noticed a lot of changes, bad changes, so we won’t be going back to Amazon Grill anymore. We walked in for a later lunch on Memorial Day around 3:30PM, and the place was DEAD! Most other restaurants had a crowd, even though it was an odd time. They used to have unlimited plantain chips, but now it’s only tortilla chips at the bar. You have to pay $ 1.95 for a measly portion of plantain chips. The sauces and tortilla chips are still free. The food quality was terrible, and they messed up every single item we ordered. I got the 6 oz. steak, but it was more like 3 – 4 oz. The kids mac and cheese was lame Kraft mac and cheese, not freshly made. My husband got the grilled fish tacos, which used to be his favorite, but again, it was absolutely terrible this time. The tres leches used to be packaged in a mason jar for to-go orders. Now, they put it in a small foam to-go box, but the milk seeps out and spills everywhere! They have certainly cut a lot of costs, but as a result, they have also cut their food quality and overall dining experience. They have really cheaped out, and it certainly wasn’t worth it! They lost a loyal customer today.

I have been a fan of the place since it opened. However I have not been a regular in recent years but, I return to find: No free plantains. No more service to the table. I tip 20% at the register when I go there. I guess that was my mistake but then back when I was a regular I was treated to a better experience. Also, other patrons were ordering fish and it smelled like a simi truck carrying food service fish sticks exploded and caught fire. Glad I didn’t order fish. It worries me to think how this reflects on the higher end stores Cordua stores like Americas, Artista and Churrascos? Its not the worse place but, its a mere specter of what it was.

Used to love this place but was dissapointed with my latest visit. Before they used to bring the food to the table, portions were bigger and they had free plantains which I dont see anymore. Will probably stop coming here as its overpriced with portions getting smaller.

Came here for the complimentary plaintains. But when I came here on a Sunday after church there wasn’t any. There were complimentary, self served chips and dip. We had the shrimp amazon salad $ 10 – 13. My son had the kids burger which came with fries, drink, and cotton candy!

This was my 1st time trying this place out and i was not impressed at all. I was here for an event so i can’t say abutting about the customer service but the food was nothing special. Only thing that i actually liked was the plantains. Everything else was just blah to me. No wow, i want to come back again and try this or that. Idk… it just didn’t do anything for me so i may not come back ever.

Amazon Grill is by far the best place to order from on grub hub. The food and service are both great! We always order the beed empanadas and grilled fish tacos. Also, I highly recommend the tres leeches!

Amazing Burger. The sourdough bun is so good, practically melts in your mouth. The French fries are cooked and salted to the perfection. Definitely will return, didn’t know this gem was right around the block.

Ok, great tip for this place… Kids eat free Monday and Tuesday. Plus, they have an amazing grilled cheese for kids. Actually it’s too good for kids. Gimme a bite of that. I was a little bummed when they started charging for the plantain chips, but that doesn’t start me from ordering them. Bottomless chimichuri sauce? Yes please! Little D loves the cilantro sauce with chips too. I usually get the grilled fish tacos. The fish is fresh and flaky. I like that the tortillas here don’t fall apart like they do at most places. The cilantro rice and black beans are great sides. I don’t usually like rice, but I like it here. The hubby says the Cuban sandwiches are amazing. I’ll take his word for it. They look super buttery and crispy. For dessert, I see a lot of people get the s’mores, but it’s really the tres leches that’s the star. They serve it in a mason jar so the milk can’t escape. That makes it extra moist and yummy.

Please don’t lump Tex-Mex and South American food under a South American name. It is confusing to others which is why the name and theme are in conflict. We ordered mojito, strawberry margarita, puffy tacos, tacos al carbon, and maduros con crema. Best plate was taco al carbon, meat was tender, took a few spoonfuls of rice and beans didn’t finish it. Best appetizer was maduros Best drink tie between both drinks Service was a bit confusing until we were directed to counter. The place looks like you should be seated first though instead you order at counter. After you place order, you walk to bar to get your drinks and take number to your table. Live band and dancing which was really good. We were able to burn some calories off. We plan to bring our friends next time. We will have to walk them on how to order. Almost forgot if you only order drinks, go past registers towards bar.

I visited this place last night for the first time and it will certainly be the last. On weekend nights they have a live band which was fun and the music was great. After several drinks I went up to the bar for a glass of water and I was told they stop handing out water after 10pm! I thought I heard wrong and asked again and I was told the same answer. Apparently if they hand out water, everyone else will only go for the music and drink water for free. I couldn’t believe it. It’s incredible that an establishment would prioritize their gain instead of the well being of their guests. He told me not to get upset and handed me a water bottle and said next time I will have to pay for it. I told him I shouldn’t have to pay for it when I asked for a glass of water which is free! He then said he was giving me a «free» bottle like I was supposed to grateful. Unbelievable. I am a bartender and I would never treat my patrons in this way. I take responsibility for those people that I serve alcohol to. I do not want to imagine a person getting rejected from getting water and then leaving that place causing an accident. Water helps those who are intoxicated. Plus, technically since they are a restaurant not a club or bar, they are by law required to have some sort of food available for those who have drank too much. Btw the person I spoke to was the manager. If the manager is like this imagine the employees.

My mom and I used to come over here to stuff ourselves with plantain chips and an Amazon burger pretty regularly, but hadn’t paid a visit in a while. It’ll be a very long time before we think about coming back again. The place was empty at 6:00PM, and the manager and several staff seemed not to care about the business that came through the door as they walked around behind the counter without greeting or even looking at us. While we stood at the counter waiting for several minutes for someone to acknowledge us, I thought about asking her if she wanted to go somewhere else, and wish I had. We put in our order, grabbed some plantain chips, and were disgusted to find out the cilantro sauce we loved had no garlic in it(usually VERY garlicky and amazing), and tasted sour. Finally, our burger came out, and the cheese on it was actually cold. Not melted, not even sort of melted and warm, but actually cold. The shoestring fries were also cold. I don’t know why our burger was made so lazily or a fresh, hot, batch of fries wasn’t made since it was the beginning of dinner time and we appeared to be the first guests. It was a disappointment from a Cordúa restaurant partner.

I was craving the plantain chips and chimchurri sauce!!! DELICIOUS and my salon always gets this place delivered so I figured I would actually come here for lunch! My boyfriend and I got the steak Cuban sandwich with a salad.(he added the egg and avocado to it) I got the Latino chicken salad grilled, no cheese with bacon and a side of yuca fries! Both amazing! They have a little area where you can get dipping sauce, plantain chips and etc. LOVE! You order at the counter, even better if you have a larger group and want to pay separate! I will come back this place is amazing! Also service was very nice!!!

Amazon grill– you have let me down. I frequented this place a lot as a child, overly eager to get my popcorn chicken and free cotton candy. Now, 10 years later, popcorn chicken is no longer kids menu item but rather an appetizer. I came here on a Friday night with my boyfriend and his little sister. We arrived around 8:30 pm. This was the mistake. The place was completely packed. This would have been fine if the line moved quickly, however, once it was finally our turn we stood at the counter waiting to get our order taken for at least 5 minutes. When we finally ordered we had to stand next to a dirty table and actually ask someone to clean it before we could sit. Hopefully this would all be made better when we could sit and get our specialty plantain chips with sauce but literally every single sauce was empty and the plantain chip bin held only remains. I mean it’s a Friday night, they should be constantly ready to refill it but they didn’t have it full until our food came! When my steak salad make, they gave me the wrong dressing. At least this could possibly be made better by a good salad but of course, that didn’t happen. My steak was cold. The lettuce and carrots seemed pre-cut and definitely not fresh. The glazed onions did not match well with the salad at all. Overall, definitely not happy with this experience. Next time, I’m taking my money over to Goode Co Seafood where I will actually enjoy my meal. Giving this place 2 stars only for the good childhood memories and the creamy cilantro sauce. Update: changed my review from 2 stars to 1 stars. Came back here to take my boyfriends sister who somehow still likes it and came to find that the free banana chips are no longer free! This is ridiculous! Shows they prioritize money over customer loyalty. Don’t come here. This place doesn’t deserve your money. Also no more quesadillas.

All you can eat plantain chips — they are delicious! And unlimited tortilla chips as well. There are 2 complimentary dips/sauces available as well. The queso is also really good — a little on the salty side but great flavor and comes with some meat(ground beef?) in it. Empanadas are okay. Plantain-crusted chicken was good — nice and crispy and topped with a block of mild cheese that I can’t remember the name of.

A more casual version of Americas or Churrascos. The salsa/plantain/chip bar is self-serve, which is nice. Quality of food is decent. Some things I’ve tried here are the Amazon salad with shrimp, Latino Chicken Sandwich, and Mixed Grill. Salad was ok. Sandwich-really enjoyed the bun and plantain crusted chicken. Mixed Grill-good to get a variety of different flavors and kinds of meat if that’s what you’re seeking. Employees are decent, and ambiance is neat. Really like the booths!

This is one of those places that is good or passable. It has some pretty good dishes, but sadly, it’s not enough to have me come back here. If you’re looking for some burgers /sandwiches with Latin America flavor, check it out, but keep in mind, once will be enough. You can find better food in Houston. The best highlight is the variety of sauces. Goes great with the chips. Service is very friendly. They’re helpful if you have any questions. Parking is very easy. It has a lot, but be careful that you don’t miss your turn!

Loooove this place. My husband and I come here almost once a week. The atmosphere is perfect, clean and welcoming. All friendly staff; Gustavo is the best manager ever! The food is great as well. Pollo Jalapeño is my favorite dish, but there’s several other delicious items on the menu. Definitely a place to try :) Oh & Pretty sure I said this before but you have to have the chips with chimichurri sauce. So yum.

If I had to describe this place, I would say it’s a fancier version of Berryhill. The counter service gives it a casual feel, but the décor and the food make it feel more upscale. I arrived right before happy hour was ending(Mon-Fri from 4 – 7), but then I realized that all of their speciality drinks are tequila based. I like tequila, but wasn’t in the mood for it that night. They do have a full bar, but the liquor selection is pretty limited. My friend and I ordered our food(beef puffy tacos for me, chicken puffy tacos for her) and grabbed a booth near the door. We did grab some chips and salsa. I’ve had plantains before, but I’ve never had them like this. I didn’t think I would like the fried platain chips, but they were good. The cilanto sauce and the chimichurri sauce were really good. The red sauce was mediocre. The tortilla chips are thick and very crunchy, so I wasn’t really a fan of those. We didn’t have to wait long for our entrees. The tacos came with cilanto rice, black beans. The tacos were a little smaller than I was expecting, but they were stuffed with cheese, pico, and meat. I liked them, but I have to say that they weren’t quite as good as the puffy tacos at Chachos. The rice was good. I don’t really care for black beans so I didn’t eat those. I wanted to try the tres leches cake but was too full from dinner to eat dessert. I also noticed that they have a chocolate tres leches cake. I’m curious to try that because I’ve never heard of any variations on tres leches cake. On our way out, we were chatting with one of the employees(a manager maybe). He told us they have salsa dancing on Friday nights and they do not charge cover. They have live music as well as a DJ. It basically sounds like Glorias without the cover charge. I would definitely like to come back and try some of the other menu options(especially the tres leches cake).

Great for a casual lunch or dinner. Great selection to choose from on their menu but I always come here for their great ceviche Salad which is amazing. They have free banana chips with a cilantro ranch dip to snack on while you wait for your meal along with corn tortilla chips. They do have a variety of draft beers and drinks. Tv. s located on all ends of the restaurant for sports coverage and a private seating area for large parties. I’m not sure but I have heard that they have Latin nights on the weekend where they have a live band to dance to. They open the back area for dancing. I’m sure whether your there for the food, dancing or just to watch your favorite team play you’ll be pretty satisfied.
