I had the anticucho and choripan. The food was good. The service was slightly underwhelming most likely to it being lunchtime and them having two folks tending to the tables/counter.

So, here’s the deal. This place is good, it’s not excellent. So, if you can’t be excellent then you can’t charge prices as if you were excellent! On top of that, their LUNCH portion is a total RIPOFF for the price. Compare the lunch and regular portion price; it’s a difference of $ 2 but you’re getting less than half of what the full portion is. Bottom line; adjust the prices, especially the lunch menu! There’s too much competition in this city. And you’re in the most obscure location, so wake up(to the boss)!

We stopped in after the Houston Marathon and barely beat a mad rush of lunch goers. Food was amazing. Place got busy and the staff handled it well. We have never tried this type of venue and the staff was extremely helpful with recommendations.

Ok! After much anticipation and hype I decided to try this place out. Online, I saw everyone raved about the tamals(tamales) so I ordered the abuelito and the puerco. Both, to my dismay was microwaved and dry. I’m not coming here again for sure. Please learn not to microwave food for your customers.

The cuisine is delicious. You can’t find this style of food just anywhere. I need to get over there more to try a few different things. A must try!

Man. I am so pumped that I finally was able to visit and dine at Andes Café. This place has been on my radar for so long… I am such a huge fan of ceviche! The menu is so interesting and appealing. and after reading some great reviews, I finally got over to EaDo to eat lunch. Its a little hard to spot if you arent looking for it. Nesteled in the bottom of an older office-looking building, its really unassuming from the street. Do not let that deter you! When you walk in its super welcoming, cute, quaint little place. We were greeted right away and chose a seat. It wasnt super busy but had a good amount of patrons. The server got us our waters very quickly, and then let us look over the menu. Given, I had already much decided before I got there. blame that inner Unilocaler in me. The goods: –Arepa La Puela: a delish corn fritter stuffed with shredded ank steak and cojita cheese. with a side of avocado salsa. It was so good. like YUM. Make sure to really use that sauce. its so good! –Mixito Ceviche: There is a reason this one best ceviche in Houston! Its so freaking good. a delicious mix of fish and shrimp, loved the roasted corn in it as well.(Peruvian thing.) The sweet potato was also a nice touch! It was so tangy and had the best flavor. the perfect amount of lime. I could probably eat it every single day! –Lomo Saltado(w/fried egg): this dish was FULL of flavor! I wanted more of a real hearty dish to finish. and this was such a great choice. The oyster sauce, vinegar, and soy really kick this dish up. I loved the bell peppers and onions. and I mean the french fries thrown in were pretty good too. Just delicious! Such a fabulous find– I highly encourage you visit! Side note: parking is easy and free! Yay! Also, its super casual, but still a great place for a low key date night or girls night, etc.

First time there I picked up ceviche to go and was extremely disappointed. However, I gave it a second chance today and it was delicious. Especially the ceviche mixto with the black clams(concha negra). Ask for rocoto on the side and enjoy a fresh juice of lulo or mora. Will be back.

I need to eat here a few more times before I review. The menu boast items from Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Columbia, Chile, and Argentina. If you are looking for traditional Mexican food, it is not here. BTW this place has only been open two years, I had to ask since a fellow Unilocaler said she has been coming here since she was a little girl. LOL. I really want to try the smoothies and the coffee drinks. I will say, that they have these little Alfajores for desert which were really good. The menu says«shortbread cookies filled with dulce de leche». The«cookie» is more like a tiny lemon cake and the cajeta was a small smear that does not take away from the taste of the«cookie». I look forward to going back to this place.

5 stars all around. I’d give 10 if I could. From the moment you enter until the time you leave, it’s amazing. The service is great, food is superb, and the music just tops it all off. The lomo saltado is my absolute favorite! Try that and one of their smoothies and thank me later.

I had heard about this place, and was dying to try it out. I’m glad I did! The service was amazing, all were attentive and nice. Then came the food. Let me preface that I’m Latino and no one cooks better than my mom. Until now, sry mom lol. We tried the empanadas, tamales, tostones and maduros as appetizers. Delicious! Then came the entrees, I had the Hornado, roasted pork. Home run! Price is just right too. For a quick bite or nice dinner, you won’t be disappointed.

I couldn’t have chosen a better restaurant for my first Houston Restaurant Weeks experience. Everything about this place exudes the amazing vibe EaDo has to offer. Venue — eclectic and sophisticated. Tons of parking! I loved the huge, colorful Ecuador mural outside. There are plenty of windows, but it’s still got a comfortable dimness about it. There’s incredible art everywhere, and even though it’s not the largest restaurant, there are small tables, larger table setups, and etc. The service is super friendly and helpful, which is great when you see the menu and might not recognize half the dishes! The food was from all over South America, and it took me right back to Peru. I could tell all of the ingredients were super fresh, the meat was prepared scrumptiously, the sauces and spices were intentional, and the desserts were heavenly. Brunch was amazing, and I can’t wait to go back for more flavorful feasts.

Discovered a treasure in Andes Café! If you have never been, the first time you go, you will drive past it before turning around further down the street and backtracking before discovering it. That will happen one time, as this restaurant will burn into your mental list of «Top Cool-Dining-Experiences-Ever.» The atmosphere is fun, «Peruvian», and casual with colorful murals adorning the walls. Staff is attentive. Saturday’s at 9:30, a South American band delivers quite a show! The Super-Good Stuff: Our party of 5 all chose to order HRW fare, many with the wine pairing(3 full pours of outstanding, well-matched wines for $ 20). First course: Spicy ceviche and a tomato/red onion salad. The Peruvian-hot pepper laced ceviche was excellent, with the heat being perfect with the wine pairing, and the atmosphere. Second course: sharing the smoked snapper, and medium-rare tenderloin. Both bursting with outstanding flavor and both cooked to perfection. Wow. Third course: White cake with liqueur, very Argentine and very delicious. David, the owner, attended to our table, provided details behind each entry and wine selection, as well as near-future plans to build a patio that will host live music. Can’t wait! Finished with a proprietary-ingredient Andes Latte – so, so very good!

This place is «Salvaje»(in Latino Castelian means«SUPERGREAT»)… It is a mix of South American food and drinks — mostly Peruvian… The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff are very nice and polite… We are coming back and of course I will be at the happy hour… RECOMMENDED101%…

This place is a hidden gem, it’s tucked away near minute maid park, the outside doesn’t look that inviting but once you’re inside it’s welcoming, fun and full of energy. For those of you that are new to South American cuisine, the servers are more than eager to explain every item on the menu and make recommendations. The food variety is pretty good, you get a touch of Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru, Argentina and my motherland Colombia. Every menu item contains an indication of where the dish is from. The food was pretty good, the portions are generous and the flavors just right. They also offer a variety of alcoholic drinks, coffees and juices inspired by each country. It’s a great homage to South America. They also have happy hour every day! What else could you ask for?

I picked up food here to take home, so I can’t speak to the waitstaff. However, I did get to see the beautiful and unique décor inside. Andes Café has really gorgeous murals painted on its walls, and the place has a great homey feel to it. When I came on a Saturday morning, it wasn’t too crowded but business was definitely good. This place also allows you to order online through Unilocal,so it was ultra convenient. If you Google ‘Andes Café Menu’, you can even see the whole menu laid out perfectly with descriptions of each dish. This restaurant is very up with its social marketing! The wait was about 30 minutes for pick up. I ordered the following: Tequenos — fairly standard fare. The avocado relish that comes with it is pretty well flavored. La Colombiana — awesome. It’s kind of like a sampler plate. The sausage was especially well seasoned. The empanada was flavorful but not mind blowing, and if you like arepas, you’ll enjoy the arepita corn patty. Pabellon Criollo — this is one of their signature dishes, and was one of the most popular ordered, but I actually liked it the least. I was a big fan of the fried plantains that it came with, but found the actual shredded flank beef to be overrated. Aguadito de Pollo — this was actually my favorite. It’s a Peruvian chicken soup. It’s a little on the salty side if you’re looking to cut sodium intake, but I thought the mix of flavors was masterful. It really feels like you suddenly have a cute Peruvian grandmother, and she made it just for you. All the above for me was only around $ 35-$ 40 post tax, and this was enough to feed two people with leftovers to spare. I’d definitely eat here again.

Besides the fact that this place is packed with flavor and authencity, it’s a cute place to get away from downtowns hussle and bussle. Freshly made coffees, smoothies, drinks and food prep are made early. They have AMAZING exotic foods that broaden your southern American side from breakfeast to dessert. Simply amazing and contains a lot of ingredients you wouldn’t normally see on a typical menu. Pretty cool twist.
