I’ll start by saying I haven’t been in this place in about 7 years. I use to go with co-workers for lunch all the time when I worked in that part of town. I was happy with the food. The waitress however was not friendly and in fact we felt unwelcome by her. Without realizing we received an adult’s enchilada dinner instead of the child’s my nephew had ordered. When we paid our check they charged us for the adult dinner. I said that the chicken enchilada was a child’s plate and $ 4.99 not $ 10. The nasty old lady at the registrar called the waitress up who informed her she had made the mistake. She ask why we didn’t send it back. Then says something like«so you eat it and want a credit for 2 enchiladas? Some people!» She actually went on to accused us of being over 12 and trying to get kids menu pricing. To which we pointed to our nephew and said«Look lady, he ordered the kids enchilada dinner and he is 10.» We showed her that he only ate 1 of the enchiladas and no one else ate the other 2 as they we still whole and intact. She changed the pricing but then the waitress says they had queso. I honestly don’t know if it was on the ticket or not at this point. But it was strange that when she added it to the ticket the price came out the exact same as it was originally. It seems the waitress made mistakes with our order. Bringing the Adult dinner instead of the child’s and may or may not have left the queso off. Yet the nasty old lady at the register tried to make it our fault. She made it seem as though the extra 2 enchiladas could have been resold and that is super gross. Just sayin… Even thought the food was good, there is better«Tex-Mex» out there and way better customer service. Just go ahead and skip this place.

Queso was sub par. Service was below average. I’ve made better tacos at home. Definitely never coming back.

The beef enchiladas here are literally unparalleled. I’ve been eating here since I was a small child, but my pregnancy cravings as of late have brought me back with alarming regularity. Their call in orders are prepared super fast and it’s always a pleasant experience.

Taking a star off for service, cuz it’s seriously the worst I’ve ever had, every single time. The food is the best though. Menudo & chorizo con huevos with homemade tortillas every weekend! Their salsa roja & queso is really good too. Me & my family have been coming for years & honestly the service has always been bad, but since I’ve been going more often it’s becoming a real issue. What they do is bring the check with your food so they never have to see you again. It’s really difficult just getting a refill. Most of the time I have to ask for the same thing 5 times before I get it. The man with the pony tail is the worst! He’s so rude, I have to wave him down & he’ll look right at me & turn away quickly! Wtf, like I didn’t see him looking right at me! I’ll still come here, cuz the is really good, but they need to do something about this horrible service!

Yummy food. Andy’s has been around for years and it’s one of my families favorite eats. The prices are reasonable and the food is good. It’s straight authentic. I have read some of the reviews and one that stuck out the most was the waitstaff weren’t friendly. Some of the cashier women(not all) are not very friendly. It’s like pulling teeth to get a smile or greeting from them. They could improve with regards to customer relations. The waitstaff have generally all been quite friendly. I enjoy the chicken enchiladas, breakfast dishes or the all beef combo. Can’t go wrong with any of it. Recently, went and had stale chips and the tortillas used in my enchiladas were hard. Maybe they weren’t soaked/cooked enough in the enchilada sauce. That’s never happened before but I wanted to let peeps know.

This is not gourmet Mexican fare. But if you’re hungry late at night, it’s a great reason to visit this place with a diner feel. Not too many restaurants open 24 hours on a weekend or until midnight on a weekday. The chips and salsa are actually good. The salsa could be a bit thicker though but it tastes fresh and served warm. I had the nachos which were individual chips each with cheese and guacamole on top. There are much better nachos out there but if you’re hungry late at night, these are not bad. The guacamole was fresh and the cheese didn’t come from a bottle that dispenses processed cheese as I’ve unfortunately seen in some places. And there was a police officer if you’re concerned about safety in the wee hours of the morning.

Small family-owned tex-mex that makes their own tortillas and have menudo everyday, quality of food may vary but it’s usually pretty good, try their carne guisada.

Love this place. My and my husbands spot! 24 hrs. Customer service can be really great or really bad depending on who u got as a waiter or waitress. The 2 brothers, I’m assuming, at cashier are super cool and nice! Food is great but they don’t have some stuff that ppl would expect at Mexican restaurant like orchata. Prices have went up bc it use to be very budget friendly now it’s a normal $ 9 a plate. Awesome area. Only negative is décor is very outdated, the booths are ripped and hardly have cushion left, wobbly tables.

I was int he Heights for a meeting yesterday and had 45 minutes to kill before the next one. My co-worker suggested a quick lunch at Andy’s. It is cheap Mexican-food fare — but great taste. The service is a bit folksy, but I suppose the place lends itself to that. One word of advice — the green salsa is HOT and the red is mild. Another huge plus, is this place is open 24 hours on the weekend — hell yeah!

Paid $ 13 for a sirloin steak that was the lowest grade qualify of beef… This place should really consider their business practices

Aww man! What happen to Andys? We’ve been going here for 30 years. Love their Carne Guisada. But last 2 times we tried it it was way to peppery. black pepper… and service was terrible. Coffee was old… even tho I asked for fresh made. The milanesa was dry and thin as a wafer. My sister went a few weeks ago and said it wasn’t as good either. Have they changed cooks? Changed or cheapened their ingrediants? We are disappointed because for 30 years this has always been our place to go for cheap home cooked type Mexican food. May have to find somewhere else. And also… the big guy at check outcounter is always nice… i believe hes the owners son… but the older lady has never been. She acts like she’s forced to be there or unhappy. No descriptive insults intended just don’t remember their names. Love the older man waiter that’s been there forever

Hadn’t been to Andy’s in forever but was in the ‘hood and decided to stop in. Last visit left me underwhelmed in terms of food and service. It was all largely meh. Today was a different story. We had breakfast and started with a great cup of coffee, chips and red and green salsa; both great. Green was a bit hotter. We each ordered the El Hombre special which came with two eggs, two pork chops, potatoes, beans and tortillas. It was deliciousness on a big round plate. Paired with a great and attentive waitress, my meh experience has been erased from my mind. We both left happy and stuffed.

Andy’s Café in the Heights serves breakfast & lunch 24⁄7. This small, quaint and unassuming restaurant makes good food the way my grandmother made it.(I’m Mexican by the way.) Everything tastes fresh and homemade. The prices are very affordable and the wait staff are very friendly. I used to live in the Heights and this was my favorite place to eat. I happen to be in the area today so I had to stop by. So good!

Can’t find too many bad things to say about 24 hour Mexican food. Typical tex mex with good service and comfy booths.

A personal favorite, local place for late night fare; cheap, but decent Mexican food. Service is always pretty uniformly adequate, but they often seem to be preoccupied, no matter how busy(or not) it is. I hesitate to describe it as a Houston establishment, but given the development in the Heights, and the rise of undeservedly expensive, underwhelming dining in the area(with uniformly bad hours), I think we need more established, comfortable spots like these. Despite the criticisms of the other reviewers, anywhere with that much Selena in a jukebox can’t be all bad, right?

Their food is probably more like a three. but I can’t help myself from adding an extra star because of all the great options on the jukebox. What other place can you hit up 24 hours for cheap Mexican food with a nice dose of Selenas?

While nothing was outright terrible, there wasn’t really anything redeeming about whole experience. The table wasn’t wiped down when we came in and, watching a waitress bus another table, I noticed that she just wiped the bits of food onto the booth seats. I had ordered the cheese enchiladas. The cheese inside was more gritty or greasy than, say, flavorful or good. The dish’s red corn tortillas were dried out and the rice on the side was sitting on a pool of grease. On top of everything else, the service was a little odd. It took a long time to even get a refill on water, let alone for our food to come. Plus, our waitress either didn’t speak any English(Which is totally fine, I mea for god’s sake it’s a Mexican restaurant. But she was deathly shy, which was more responsible for the alienating dining experience). They did have peppermints at the front though; so that was nice. t

Horrible service. They«ran out of cups» gave us to go cups they then charged us for. We had to get up 15 minutes after our drinks were empty, and ask for a refill. They took our chips, and never replaced the basket. I thankfully got the meatless entrie, and my stomach is still in knots… my friend got the beef entrie and she couldn’t even finish the fajita taco. I wouldn’t go back if it were the only late night spot.
