Anju

Anju made my foodie heart swoon. After so many failed restaurants opening at the same spot next to BWW, I was beginning to think nothing would take, but I think Anju and its delicious food is there to stay.
Unfortunately, they’re still working on obtaining their liquor license, but we were offered a complimentary sample of our desired flavor of soju. Lloyd is the mastermind behind all the tasty flavor-​infused (in-​house, might I add) soju and they did not disappoint! The flavor of my lychee sample was so pure and the soju had none of the bite and awful metallic flavor. My boyfriend said his strawberry sample was equally smooth. I’m excited to see what Lloyd had in store for the cocktail menu in the future!
Now for the main event… the food. My boyfriend and I had such a hard time deciding between all the mouth-​watering dishes. We decided on the poké bowl, kimchi fried rice, and pork belly wraps!
The poké bowl had good flavor and big chunks of fresh tuna. The pine nuts added a nice crunch of flavor!
The kimchi fried rice was topped with a fried egg worthy of an Instagram photo. The spice was nice for my boyfriend and I. Any less spicy would’ve been disappointing, but it was a nice amount of warmth and flavor.
THE PORK BELLY WRAPSSSSSS!!! yes. It needed to be introduced with caps and multiple «s» for emphasis on how good it was. «Pork belly in my bellayyy!» That’s all I could think when I saw this glorious row of thick cut deliciousness before me. You take the meat and some kimchi and wrap in the lettuce. Then you dip this delicate, gorgeous baby in sesame oil and then a chili sauce.

I can’t wait to come back in a few weeks to try the soju cocktails and different things on their menu!

Worst service I’ve received in Houston. First and only time I will visit. I wish I had more to say about it, but since we were not served at all I cannot even comment on the food. After sitting for about 20+ mins with no help (didn’t even get to put in our orders) we walked out.

Good food. I’ve had their Ramen, Kimchi Fried Rice and Fried chicken on two separate occasions. The service is a bit slow, but they are new. The food was good. The Ramen has a thick stew like broth that was refreshing, the kimchi fried rice had a spicy tart flavor and the fried chicken is just addictive. Worth a try.

Had the kim che fried rice, NY strip, Ribs, fried tofu, pork belly, and fried chicken wings — all were very good. The kim che was good as well as the potato salad. I’d definitely come back.
The wait staff needs a little help, very scattered brain. The entrees didn’t come out all at once, the pork belly came out when the other foods were finished; the pork belly was boxed and enjoyed at home.

Very good food and service. It’s quite different than other Korean restaurants I’ve been too. You won’t be disappointed!

I hardly post reviews and when I do, typically they haven’t always been positive but this place deserves a raving review. I just went here last night with some friends and I enjoyed every bite that I had. We decided to split a bunch of items of the menu and ended up getting the Kalbi ribs, the kimchi Mac and cheese, the pork belly bun sandwiches, the strip steak, and the Korean fried chicken. Everything was incredible! The chicken was sweet with just a little bit of heat, the Kalbi ribs were the most tender ribs I’ve ever eaten and literally fell off the bone. The pork belly sandwiches were delicious and I loved the seasoned cucumbers on it that gave it a bright crunch. We also ordered some «mocktails» and a few rice vodka shots that come in strange flavors. For the mocktails we got the fruit loop which was refreshing and the root beer vodka shot was good. Plus the service was perfect and the owner even came over to check on everything. They are brand new and don’t have a huge sign out front yet but they are around the corner from Buffalo Wild Wings. This place is truly a hidden gem and it won’t take long for this place to take off! Highly recommend!!!

My co-​workers & I tried this new Korean fusion restaurant tonight.
The atmosphere & décor is simplistic & Asian inspired.
The food was, in my opinion, excellent. We had a little of everything. For appetizer, we had Kimchi Bacon «Mac & Cheese”& poke. Both we hits at our table. The Poke was ahi tuna marinated with soy, onions, pine nuts & lettuce. It was well balanced in seasonings.
For main courses, we had kimchi fried rice, kimchi ramen, chicken katsu, stuffed squid, spicy pork ribs.
The homemade curry sauce on the chicken katsu, was a little strong for me; but the chicken was crunchy & very juicy. My co-​worker enjoyed the stuffed squid. It was just like his mom made, except with a waaay bigger squid.. The spicy pork ribs, not so spicy. They were sweeter to us. They fell right off the bone.
The only downside was not enough waitstaff. The only had 2 waiters. If there had been lots more customers, lots of frustrations would have been had.

I have only eaten a little Korean food previously so was excited to try this with my friend who recommended it. He got the ramen, I got the Anju salad, pork belly bun and street rice cakes. Salad could have fed four as appetizer. I giggled as the chili sauce slid out of the park belly bun. Nom nom. Street rice cakes tasted like nothing I’ve had before. They had that perfect dumpling gummy texture I adore. Coming back soooooon

I went here with a coworker for lunch. Its pretty new and its in the same shopping center as BWW. I also love Korean food, so I had to try this place out.
After ordering, I found out that this place is owned by the same owners of the restaurant, Dosi. They actually closed down Dosi and opened up this place. It’s a better location, but you’ve gotta fight a little to get a parking spot.
Since it was lunch time, we decided to do our «tapas styled lunch». We got 2 appetizers: street rice cakes & kimchi bacon «mac» and cheese. Both dishes actually use rice cakes, but nevertheless it was delicious and flavorful. Warning on the mac and cheese though, I believe there is ginger in there. If you aren’t a fan of ginger I would advise you to stay clear of this dish. I enjoyed these apps though! Our 3^rd tapas dish, we ordered the pork belly wrap (see pic). It was delicious although, I wished the pork belly was crispy. I really liked the dipping sauce, it definitely the completed the dish.
If it wasn’t for the excellent service and the gift card that my friend and I each got, I would have rated this 4 stars due to the price. Its kinda expensive for lunch and most of the main entrees on the menu don’t include sides. Sides are an extra $ 4 each. Maybe I’m just spoiled by the a lot of the other Korean restaurants that always offer sides with their dishes. But, the sweet gift card that was given to us makes me want to come back and try other dishes. I can’t wait to bring my boyfriend here.

Came here with a coworker and was blown away. Got the kimchi mac and cheese and the chicken katsu. Everything was great! Absolutely no complaints. They also had a bunch of different flavors of soju which was amazing! ¹⁰⁄₁₀ will come back and highly recommend to everyone wanting an amazing, very reasonably priced meal!

First visit was great, we had a bunch of the small plates and loved almost all of them. Can’t wait to come back for dinner and try out more of the menu.

Excellent all of my friends orders different items from wings to pork ribs and even a salad with salmon not sure what’s it called. Everything was great and the Soju was awesome ! bacon and habanero flavor was the best !

A new business comes up with a fantastic concept, and it allows people to experience something new and great not found elsewhere. Then, a total ignorant who doesn’t have any idea what it takes to create a dish, and the cost involved, comes to complain and trash talk about the restaurant in the cyber web?
Just like When a girl went to Jiro (the best sushi bar in the world) and complained she was served nigiri with rice an asked the chef to remove the rice. This first reviewer is just like that.
Shame on You Unilocal for letting such ignorant review be allowed as the first review on a business that possibly involved much sacrifice to even get it open.
Unilocal should filter out the ignorant and uneducated reviews. But, probably mine would get removed instead. Hope it stays up long enough for that first reviewer to see it, and learn.
Great location, great food, very reasonably priced.

OK, it’s fusion Korean, which worked out so well for me. When I get Korean Jajangmyun (black been paste noodle) with my Korean bf at Korean restaurants its normally really wet and really black bean-y…yuck. But here it was more like Chinese zhajiangmian! Score for the Chinese gf! Yay! It’s a little bit more dry and… I forget what type of meat came with it… was perfectly paired.
We got the fall off the bone Kalbi. The menu says this is priced by the pound, but you have to buy 1 – 2 lbs because they can’t control how big the cut is… But the meat is heavenly. Melt in your mouth delicious.
The lobster mac n cheese was made with rice balls. It was fun to eat a different texture «noodle» but I like the more traditional sauces in the menu.
When you order the main dishes, they come with Korean side dishes! I love love love the cheesy corn and the kimchi.
This is a great date place in Midtown. The set up is really modern and cute. But it’s even better with a group of 4 or more and ordering family style.
Can’t wait to come back!

My friends and I came here last night for the grand opening, and we pretty much gave this place a two thumbs up. Of course, they just opened so there are definitely rooms for improvement. I’ll list five things I like about this place. 1. The location is right smack in midtown. It is walking distance from Coco crepes or Fluff Bar if you want to grab dessert afterward. And it is five minutes driving distance from all the clubs in downtown. So, it is so convenient if you want to stop by and grab a bite before hitting the clubs. 2. BYOB — my friends and I brought our own beers & wine last night, so we can drink what we want and don’t have to pay extra for them. 3. The place is spacious! It can accommodate large groups and can be as loud without having to disturb the next table. They also have a table at the corner away from the crowd if your group want privacy. 4. The Bo Ssam!!! I have LOVED this dish since I had it at Dosi restaurant but was so sad when Dosi closed down. This is the only place in Houston that have this dish and it is a MUST try. It is a pork shank marinated and cooked for hours, so the meat fell off the bone. You separate the meat and wrap in lettuce with their special sauce. SO GOOD! (I think you need to pre-​order this dish) 5. All of the dishes that we ordered were good as well. But, I will highlight the ones that stood out most to me. Side dishes: the spinach, the anchovies, the potato salad, and the kimchi. The appetizers: the cracklins and the pork belly buns. The main dishes: lobster Mac n Cheese, the corn dish, the ribs, and the kimchi ramen. Can’t wait to come back and try the rest of their menu.

This place is ridiculous, they sell meat by the pound but yet they only have at least 2 – 3 pounds in size, so instead of paying $ 21 for a pound of Kalbi you have to pay $ 42 for 2 pounds of Kalbi… Bc they don’t have anything smaller than that… Wowwww
