This is my favorite gallery in Houston. It is located in a cool part of the city inside the loop. The space is open with the artwork well-presented. Make plans to stop by the First Saturday of each month for the opening reception. What is really cool is that the artists are there to mix and mingle and discuss their works. This is an artist-owned gallery representing thirty-plus local artists.

One of the older galleries of Houston. Spoke to a rep there tonight, Becky, and she said it opened in 70’s. It has relocated a couple of times and is now on Dunlavy near Fountainview. Art changes monthly… friendly, non-intimidating atmosphere!

Tonight, the gallery featured Archway Gallery’s Juried Exhibition. Patrons were able to view and enjoy artwork created from a variety of art mediums including recycled materials, glass, acrylics, and much more! Although I was lucky and found a spot to park right out front, there is no parking lot that I am aware of at least. Even though I enjoyed many of the pieces on display, I really liked Michael Horvath’s work best. Upon speaking with Becky, I learned that this place has been around since the 1970’s and it’s location was next to the River Oaks theater. She also encouraged me to return next month because the artwork on display changes monthly.

This is a great little gem located in the heart of Montrose. It is owned by the artists, which is really cool. I was amazed to find such wonderful works at really reasonable price. It is a great place to just browse and look through the wide range of art that they have on-hand. Having purchased a piece recently, I will be certainly be back.

What an unexpected find. A friend of mine lives in this area and she was out walking around the other day, she texted me and said that she was here and I should come. So I drove over. Upon walking in I was immediately intrigued by the size of the place. I’m used to smaller galleries, but this gallery is set up in a way that is really easy to walk through. You don’t have to worry about people standing in front of a piece you want to see for too long. The artists are out mingling and love to talk to you. The pieces were so diverse, I loved the options. Some were watercolor, some were acrylic, some were welding, repurposed metals, and sculptures. Apparently, this is open to the public for showings on the first Saturday of every month. Like at most galleries, there is free drinks. The difference though is that at this gallery they have someone serving you behind the counter instead of just setting the drinks out. There is food as well, lots of yummy snacks. I really loved the feel here, it’s a super cool place where they make you feel like you’re wanted there, and they really want to engage with people.

Archway Gallery always has something new and interesting from mostly local artists… The works here are beautiful, and the people are so helpful! A couple months ago, I went to the gallery in the middle of the day, looking for a particular piece from Liz Hill that I had seen on an advertisement for the gallery sometime ago. The woman at the front desk informed me that Liz Hill was no longer with the gallery, but she did her best to give me all the information of how to get in touch with the artist. She even went into her personal address book and looked up the information for me. I had a good time looking at the rest of the art work, and I plan on returning when searching for neat pieces.

A very cool art gallery. This was not your normal set up since there was art literally every where. Most of the galleries I had seen the art was basically just all around on the walls. Well this place you can find art on the wall of course but near the ground, on platforms, in the air, and even places like the bathroom. There are 2 ladies that seem to run this gallery and they were super sweet.
