So I read the reviews and try to decide if I want to go there for dinner. I check out the website they have created using Godaddy.com’s website tonight app. The menu page is blank. The phone number listed is a Cricket number that is no longer in service. Maybe their truck got towed for illegal parking or health violations. Not worth the gas to drive out there from Sugar Land.

Ambiance: This is a Truck that has covered tables in front of it and a washing station to clean your hands before you eat. You don’t eat Indian food with utensils or silverware. You eat with your hands so you must clean your hands. Hopefully they get enough business to open up a restaurant that finally serves authentic Indian food in Houston. Food: This place is not white washed like the other Indian restaurants. If you want AUTHENTIC food then Ashka is your place. For those of you who think you know Indian food and can’t even handle eating a raw pepper, you don’t know jack about tandoor masala or Indian spice. If I had not grown up eating spicy mexican food my whole life there is no way I would have been able to handle this food. Do not come here expecting white-washed food. So all of you suburban soccer moms who think you have culture because you took a yoga class should stick to Taj India or Tandoori Garden. Service: Friendly people. They make you feel like family. Value: Price is a bit much for outside seating but the food makes up for it. I do not mean to sound racist but I hate when restaurants lose their traditional recipes in order to cater to those who are unfamiliar to the cuisine. If you wan’t to try ethnic food then try the ethnic food but don’t change it just because you don’t like it by supporting fake ethnic food. That’s why Taco Cabana tastes like Sh**. Because too many non-Mexicans don’t know what REAL Mexican food is.

Did a take-out from this restaurant. The food was average at best. My biggest gripe with this place is the quantity of food they provide for the money. Their average vegetable entrée is around $ 7 – 8. The portion size is relatively small. Paneer makhani was 90% gravy. We tried this place because they were having buy 1 get 1 free special. It is highly unlikely we will revisit this place.
