Barnaby’s Cafe

Barnaby’s is a great place for a casual lunch or dinner. I love the patio at this location because it is completely covered in vines, giving it a cozy feel. My husband has gotten my entire family addicted to their chili dog! It comes on a loaf of bread and all the fixings your heart desires. Good drinks, good service, consistent.

I love this place! Everything I’ve had always tastes fresh and clean, plus it’s dog friendly which is a definite bonus point. I love the grass fed buffalo burger with guac, and I LOVE that they have Saint Arnold beers!

I LOVE this place! You absolutely cannot go wrong with any of their burgers. The black bean burger and buffalo burgers are my favorites. The sweet potato fries are OUT OF THIS WORLD. If you are going to get a salad, definitely get a half order as they are very large portions.

You can never go wrong with Barnaby’s Café on a Tuesday. $ 2 wine glasses all day!!!

I went here lunch with my friends, and it was an enjoyable experience. The service is great, and the atmosphere is very lively, but the food was a little disappointing.
For a drink, I ordered the Strawberry Lemonade ($ 2.50). It was really good and not too sweet. It tasted more like limeade though.
For the main dish, I ordered the Hawaiian Pork Chops ($ 13). It comes with 3 pieces of meat cooked in a soy glaze. The taste wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t very special either. The meat was not that tender either; it was a little hard to chew. The regular fries are decent. Nothing great about them. The sweet potato fries were a little soggy; I wish they were more crispy.
Overall the experience wasn’t bad. The restaurant is a great place to hang out with friends, but the food lacks a lot.

Good food but the worst of Barnaby’s restaurants that I’ve been to thus far. The previous reviews are correct — staff is rude. They don’t upkeep the interior either. It’s the most run-​down of all the locations. Small interior and small patio to sit on. I assume you can bring your dog outside on the patio as there’s exterior access.
Food is consistently good. I had their cheeseburger and sweet potato fries. I probably will return to another Barnaby’s location before coming back to this one. I only took away two stars because I still enjoyed my meal, even though we waited a long time to be served on a 4 top table.

The place is very clean! All of the staff is very friendly. The seats are a little too close for my liking. I like to eat without somebody I don’t know being arms length. Other than that my visit was fantastic and will be returning again. The food was yummy and they have hugeeeee homemade, delicious rice Krispy treats.

All I have to say is Waffles Fries…

The Barnaby’s waiter and waitress here were scoffing at my family and me as it had taken over 50 minutes to get our food for a group of 8. We didn’t even verbally complain to them. The food was dry, not flavorful, and not good for the wait time.
This location does not have brunch, and they were brewing the coffee as we walked in when it opened at 11am.
I’m all about good reviews and good Houston eats, but this place was disappointing.

LOVE this place. I always get the Fattoush salad and it is crazy good. I get it without the chicken or pita bread but they add extra veggies and hard boiled eggs — amazing! Went there this past Sunday with the family and everyone loved their food and portion sizes.
I wish they would put out a gluten free menu … or at least make the staff aware of what the food has in it — other than that, I love and will continue to go back.

Their sweet potato fries are what keeps me coming back again and again. And to all their other locations for that matter. They really are THE BEST and dipped in the chipotle BBQ sauce… mind-​blowing, I tell ya.
I rarely stray from their salads, but when I do, I go for the BLT or meatloaf. The tomato sauce is made in-​house and the side of mash potatoes that come along with it is just as good as everything else. This is definitely my go-​to place when I don’t know what I’m craving since I know Barnaby’s will always satisfy!

Barnaby’s is the perfect little Café to enjoy a huge delicious salad or a tasty juicy burger. I went there for lunch and had their guacamole burger and added delicious bacon. It was extremely juicy and great. They served it with waffle fries and a tasty honey mustard dipping sauce.
The best part of the meal was the apple pie a la mode with Amy’s Mexican Vanilla ice cream. If you go there and and don’t order this, then you are truly missing out.
My co-​worker ordered the club sandwich and it too was top notch.

Been to Barnaby’s a few times. They have multiple locations in the Houston area, and all of them are consistently good. Portions are large so two people can share if you aren’t super hungry. The service here is always very good.
I have tried the Lebanese Chicken Fatoush which is a large salad with a nice lemon kick to it and is tasty and filling. Also had the Pesto Chicken Salad Sandwich, which is fantastic and one of my favorite dishes here. Most of the items on the menu are pretty healthy and the ingredients here are always fresh. But If you are looking for something super healthy and filling the Chicken La Jolla is a great dish.
Overall a nice place to grab lunch with friends or colleagues.

Just as delicious as the other Barnaby’s around town! This one is a bit hidden at the back of the strip center so be sure to walk around to find it. My favorite menu item is the Chicken Fattoush Salad. Loaded with cucumbers, black olives, cilantro, and mint, it’s such a delicious flavor profile that I crave often. Their burgers are wonderful too. They are nice and hearty yet still on the healthy side. You can enjoy the burger without that cloud of regret that happens after a super greasy burger.

While we did wait 30 minutes to be seated, it is important to note that we could only be seated outside (due to dogs), it was raining, and a large party with other dogs took up half the patio. The staff were very apologetic, courteous, and kept checking in with us and seated us as soon as they could.
The food is great. My first trip I had the French Dip sandwich and this trip I had the Hawaiian Pork Chops. While I believe I favor the sandwich, it would be a lie to suggest the pork chops were not delicious! The apples were a bit too sweet for me, but the waitress recommended adding some ice to not only cool bit help alleviate the sweetness. Brilliant!
Both trips, my dogs were given a clean bowl with ice water. They were also each given a treat. I have never felt so welcomed with my fur babies as this location.
This has become one of my favorite spots. I beseech you to try it. (Do bear in mind the price is $$.)

What took me so long to check out Barnabys?
Very nice vibe happening here. We dined on the patio, which is dog friendly! They even provide water for your pooch.
What I ordered:
Chicken La Jolla. Surprisingly delicious! Layered Juicy Chicken Breast stuffed with roasted green peppers and a killer verde sauce with Swiss cheese, tamatoes and red peppers on top. Accompanied by black beans & rice. Healthy and seriously delicious.
The portions were enough for 2 but I’m sharing. ;)

Barnaby’s is always a great experience and is a Houston staple. I love the variety of dishes they serve — sandwiches, burgers, Mexican, vegetarian, homestyle, salads, lasagna — it seems there’s a little of everything and everything I’ve ever tried at a Barnaby’s has been good. Not best-food-I’ve-ever-eaten good, but good.
This location is tiny, cute, and cozy. The service is very friendly. They have $ 2 wine on Tuesdays, BUT YOU HAVE TO ASK! At the Shepherd location they advertised this precious $ 2 wine, but at this location we had to ask if they offered it. Last night I had the sweet potato fries, which come with a spicy barbecue sauce and a cup of the Soup of the Day, which was tortilla. The soup was just ok.
Some of my favorite dishes at Barnaby’s are…
* The Lebanese Fattoush salad (ask for the smaller size)
* Any of the burgers
* Any of the chicken dishes that come with the cinnamon spice apples
* The waffle fries with blue cheese — very rich!
* The Baby Brownie with ice cream (only $ 2!).
If you’re looking for a tasty meal in a nice environment, Barnaby’s is a wonderful option!

I have never dined in, but regularly pick up food to go for lunch during the week.
To go parking, any parking for that matter, is not obvious. They are located off of Bering, behind Le Peep, so wherever you park you’ll have to walk. There are technically two to go parking but unless it’s two very small cars, and one parks really close to the patio, you can only fit one.
I always get the salsalito chicken salad. It is amazing. Their French fries are skinny, fried, seasoned, and equally amazing.
The hot dogs are a foot long, and so big they cut them open. They also come with fries. I think most dishes come with a side, but it may not be listed on their menu so you have to ask.
Nice size covered patio and a small dining room. Everyone is always very friendly. I recommend trying this place out, any location!

Really random but one of my favorite meals in Houston.
It was soo good, the food was solid.
We sat outside and had a great comfortable experience there.

Come a little before it opens because it gets packed so quickly! It’s being Le Peep so it might be a little hard to find if it’s your first time there.
Sweet Potato Fries (⁴⁄₅) Good but not great. You’d expect some seasoning but it was as though they served it straight out of the fryer. The spicy BBQ sauce (⁵⁄₅) is what did it for me. SO good! My companion and I could not stop grabbing & dipping for more.
Turkey Burger (⁴⁄₅) One of the best & juciest turkey burgers I’ve had! I used the BBQ sauce from my sweet potato fries for a little more flavor hehe.
I also enjoyed the service; our waiter was witty and very attentive. Portions are HUGE, so unless you’ve got a huge appetite, I wouldn’t expect a clean plate afterwards!
