Chicken sandwich & brisket tacos were ok, nothing special. would order something else next time. Seasoning is different here. Homemade chips were very good & crispy. Hubby said Bread pudding was good & beaver balls were good, but both desserts and dinner items were wayyy overpriced. Iced tea was the way I liked it. Hubby said Beer was cold-didn’t try any of the brews just a Miller light. Parking can be a bit of an issue. We were seated promptly, didn’t seem busy. Waiter was good. Food was served promptly. I would like to suggest that they serve something like bread or chips while waiting … Just a little something. I mentioned it was our first time to eat there(I always expect some info at this point) but that didn’t get any response, ok is it me or if you really don’t like something shouldn’t they tell you they would be glad to get you something else. I’m starting to feel these new quirky places are stuck-up. I look forward to trying brunch hoping to be wowed.

Got the grand slam! Was very good. Nice little place. A tad bit«expensive» for what it was but its ok. No the best service but decent.

Beaver’s had been on my bookmarked list for quite some time now and I finally met some friends there over the weekend and I will certainly be back to try more of the menu. The atmosphere was laid back, social, and very cool. Our server was great… we had the queso for an appetizer which was OK, it wasn’t the best but it was a cheese dip. We also, well I had the fried green tomatoes(no one else was up for it but its one of my fav dishes so I had to try theirs) which was pretty good, they lacked a bit of salt but overall tasty. Collectively we had for drinks«Come and Take it», «Manhattan», «Lion’s Tail», and«Fall Classic»…which all got GREAT reviews(at least from my table lol). For dinner I had the«Mac Etoufee» and it lacked some salt as well but was still pretty good. I saw TONS of burgers coming from the kitchen so I will definitely be trying one of them next time! I can’t wait to visit this place again, I am anxious about what else they have to offer!

I was admittedly very close to giving this place an impulse 5⁄5 based entirely on the heavenly Barbacoa Empanadas. Perfectly fried. «Dam good.» The menu split between«brunchy munchy» and«munchy lunchy»(the kitsch level here was actually the deciding factor to go here for brunch) offers a great spread of dishes with great descriptive buzz and an extra dollar or two tacked onto the price to accomodate the hype. Was not disappointed with my choice in the Honey Butter Bacon Biscuit. Solid eats. Could maybe have done with some more honey drizzle — the two biscuits were good but felt super dry. Also the plate was lacking in its titular bacon. But a good and hearty brunch bite for sure. If not for my intense aversion to raisin, would have opted for the Brisket Tacos which I’ve heard great things about. The Green Chile Chicky was a welcome bite of flavorful mac but stopped short of meriting more than a happy mention. «Just South of Hooters,»(ha) Beaver’s is also just south of stellar for me.

I actually went to this place two nights in a row! First night I tried the ango mango tango drink and the chicken wangs which was decent! My bf ordered the pimms cup which he really liked and the next night I tried the paloma piquan(sumthin like that) which was refreshing and spicy! He also ordered the bbq tofu which unfortunately did not taste that great… However our waiter replaced it with the wangs and was very accommodating so that definitely is a plus! They also have a chill outdoor heated patio area which was nice! The vibe is very Austin-y and a little weird, in a comfy sort of way! Also valet is complimentary so yeah!!! Enjoy!

The atmosphere was cool! Staff is very friendly. Nice place to enjoy brunch, or a good afternoon lunch with the family. The restaurant has a rustic feel with a bit of a modern twist added to it. I had the chicken fried steak & eggs; very good serving, sunny side up eggs were cooked to perfection, mashed potatoes & carrots were great! Also came with Texas toast & white gravy. Wife had the Honey butter bacon biscuit; it was pretty good, but the bread was a little dry(tough), but the bacon was amazing! Mimosas were pretty good.

If you’re looking for amazing food, an incredible drink menu, and quirky servers — you’ve found the perfect place. On the weekends they have brunch, you MUST go! Dinner is great, but the brunch is incredible. The Bloody Mary’s are to die for, and the food … there are not words. On our most recent trip(which was New Years Day, and we were both in dire need of a pick me up) I ordered the Bacon Omelette Biscuit for the first time. Amazing, the best thing I’ve had to date on the menu. Order it, you will NOT be disappointed. My husband ordered his go to favorite, the«Dam» Good Breakfast, though this time I think he may have found a replacement(seriously, that biscuit…)!! They also have the best stuffed potatoes ever, the burger is wonderful, and they have an amazing«Mac» menu — clearly, we do not come here to be healthy! ;) The drink menu is both hilarious and delicious, with choices like the«man mosa» amongst many, many others. Beavers is, and will forever be, one of our go to places.

Given the star power behind this restaurant, I was a bit disappointed with my experience here. That said, the atmosphere here is conducive to a fun, casual hangout, and the service was super attentive. Tots ‘n’ shots — Average. Interesting concept but underwhelming. The tots are mildly cheesy fried risotto sticks and were blander than I had hoped. The Bloody Mary dipping sauce was watery and didn’t pack as much flavor as I wanted. Honey butter bacon biscuit — Mediocre. I usually love biscuit, but these were pretty dry. The honey butter was too sweet and a bit overwhelming, particularly when paired with the candied bacon. The fried chicken wasn’t bad, but it didn’t stand out. The home fries weren’t worth eating much of either. If it were 2am, I’d take a Whataburger HBCB over this. Bread pudding — Great. The bread pudding definitely was the star of the meal. It was moist while maintaining structural integrity, indulgent but not overly sweet.

Great place. It’s a smokehouse/bar combo with some really eclectic items on the menu. The chef likes locally sourced proteins and has a great selection on the menu. Their fried green tomatoes are about the best around. Great bartenders and very good selection of craft-beers. The only thing that keep me from rating beavers higher is that the food can be a inconsistently prepared. Not that I’m a chef, but there are so many selections on the menu that sometimes, the execution is a bit off-point. We keep going back for the fried green tomatoes and the creative drinks the bartenders create.

If you are in search of a cheat meal… the BBQ Mac N Cheese($ 11) will fulfill that need. It comes out hot and melty with pork bbq and plenty of sauce. It was delicious! It wasn’t a huge portion but it’s so filling that I couldn’t finish it all. I will say that there was an excessive amount of oil in it, and I couldn’t eat the leftovers I took home because it had all sunk to the bottom and then grossed me out to look at. BUTENJOYITWHILEYOU’RETHERE. My friend had the fried fish tacos which she said she really enjoyed. Parking can be kind of a mess depending what time you go, and you might have to search for a while on the street. You’ve been warned.

We were on a quest for fried pickles. Ever since King Biscuit went out of business, we have not had a super good fried pickle. Beaver’s delivered! They have pickle spears which are hard to find. The tempera batter is tasty, light, and it doesn’t fall off on your first bite. You get a good creamy, oniony sauce with the order. We got catsup on the side too. The service was friendly and prompt. Parking on a rainy Saturday was not difficult. I’ll be back to try other interesting menu items. There really is plenty to please everyone.

Great neighborhood place. Cold beer. Decent BBQ. The brisket is a bit over cooked. Needs more bark. Stuffed baked potatoes and little beaver pies are the go too. Mac and Cheese is to please. Outside does smell a bit.

Not good. Wife and I had breakfast 11−15−15 and I started out with a bloody Mary, which wasn’t good at all. I’d put it at about a 2 out of 10. Wife had the chicken fried steak breakfast, I had the Dam breakfast(Beaver’s, get it?), which is pulled pork, patty sausage and eggs. Our dishes were possibly the most bland, un-seasoned food we have ever experienced, and we’ve been foodies for 25 years. My pulled pork had some gristle, some of it hard as a rock, and the patty sausage was gray and minimally palatable. I cannot overstate how disturbing it is to eat food as plain and bland as this. Zero chance we would ever go back. Note: there are ringer reviewers here.

I had a very positive experience this past Saturday afternoon. Happy Hour until 7pm was nice. I tried the Kentucky Mule & one other cocktail off the list«what we drink.» I can’t recall what it was but it was nice. The homemade ginger beer in the Kentucky Mule was delicious. The bartenders were upbeat & friendly and took time creating our cocktails. They took time to explain the drinks and they were even kind enough to let my friend sample all the hoppy drafts. I got the texas toothpicks & fried tomatoes for an appetizer. Very good. Some of the best fried tomatoes I have ever had. i also had the cup of tortilla soup which was very good and hearty. The cup is a very generous portion with a good amount of blackened chicken in it. Very cool layout, patio looks very nice too. Parking can be a struggle but they have valet.

TIP: Try their cocktails. Had an egg white sour today(sour flip) and it was delicious.(Enjoyed it and the atmosphere here way better than Anvil.) Who: friends, bf, & I Where: Wash. Ave, Heights What: Margherita Mac, Beet Salad Why: Love Beaver’s. It’s a very chill place with an awesome vegetarian-friendly menu and lengthy beer/cocktail list. I’ve tried all the Mac and cheeses(including the Pumpkin Mac, which is a bit weird), and I always go back to the Margherita. The Beet Salad is my fav, which includes beets, peaches, mixed greens, goat cheese, walnuts, and a tangy vinaigrette. My boyfriend always gets the Nut Burger and whatever seasonal brew that’s on tap. Overall, awesome(but slightly pricy) joint. P. S. Please bring back the sweet potato stout! We loved it.

Hot dam!(see what I did there?) A place that has delicious queso and delicious cocktails? I’m sold. The lovely Farrah A and I stopped by Beaver’s for a quick happy hour snack and drink while I was recently visiting Houston and OFCOURSE we had to order the queso. Y’all, you can buy my happiness for a mere $ 6 during happy hour with this stuff. It’s just melty cheese and chips, but it turns out it’s preeeeetttty easy to make me happy. For my cocktail I ordered the Pimp’s Cup and loved it. It was made with amazotti, laphroaig 10yr, muddled cucumber, lemon, and house ginger beer and was one of the better happy hour drinks I’ve had in a minute.(It was also $ 2 off during happy hour which was a nice bonus.) My favorite part of the drink menu might have been the«Drink Like A Bartender» section which was full of things I wouldn’t personally order, but I know a lot of hipsters that would. I’m looking at you Mezcal and Fernet lovers. Our server was a bit sassy, but in a good way and overall I really enjoyed my time here.

Bread pudding, bread pudding, please order bread pudding. This is my favorite one and I have tried tons of places throughout Houston. On Sunday, we actually stopped in to try the brisket and one of their speciality drinks. We ended up ordering stuffed jalapenos which were spicy. There was mixed platter our waiter recommended had sausage, pulled pork, brisket, huge piece of toast and cole slaw. Everything was good. I am not even a fan of cole slaw but their slaw was not too overpowering. Parking is tiny but don’t let that stop you. Even if it’s just for the bread pudding.

So… this place is named Beaver’s. I really, really want to go there– you know where– but I’ll refrain. The jokes write themselves, so what do you need me for? Oh, to critique the food. My friend and I split the famous CFBS(chicken fried beaver steak). Ay, we gon’ $ave dat money! Also, the portion is excessive and we weren’t very hungry. I’m not normally a fan of CFS. I don’t like gravy either, because I’ve seen how it’s made. But this one’s special; it has bacon and mushroom gravy. I wish there were real chunks of bacon, but the flavor is cooked into it pretty well. The breading on the CFS held up without getting too soggy. The entrée is served with Texas toast, mashed potatoes, and steamed veggies. I love it when someone orders an appetizer for the table, on his own accord, and doesn’t make everyone else pay for it. I got to try the smokey queso, named as such because it contains brisket. You know what they say– don’t mess with Texas queso. You can’t just be tossing random ingredients into our sacred queso. Fortunately, it was delicious, or we finna have a real problem. They’re also known for BBQ. What do you MEAN, I don’t have to wait hours in line for meat? There’s no reward in that, so I passed. They have this dessert– beaver balls– that are deep fried brownies. It’s definitely not an «eat clean» type of restaurant. I mean… it’s called Beaver’s. Okay, I need to end this review here before I say something crass.

When places have so many reviews, I sometimes wonder if I should even bother. But that’s what Unilocal’s all about. Sharing your experience you had there. So I will type away and maybe, just maybe, someone will read it. We came here on a Saturday after some fun at the art galleries. It was blistering hot out, so we opted to sit in the bar area. The atmosphere is very laid back. Its dim light and cool inside and the servers are very casual in their approach as well. They explained that happy hour was happening where we were sitting during that time, so we opted to take advantage. The craft cocktails are well made in this establishment. I really enjoyed my Son of a Peach! I could sip those all day long. My man also enjoyed his Rusty Nail. Drinks defiantly get a two thumbs up from me! I wish I could say the same about the food. For our lunch we had the Fried Green Tomatoes and Brussels Sprout Dip to start. While we really liked the Dip, the FGT were just OK to me. I’ve certainly had way better, but I like the attempt at making a great southern classic a bar food. For our main dishes we had the BBQ tofu and Beef Sloppy Sandwich. First off the BBQ tofu was not what I expected. While the sauce was flavorful, the tofu seemed too soggy, like it was taken right out and cooked instead of pressed out first. It was served hot over a bed of salad greens, which just withered under the heat and seemed out of place. When it said served with sautéed greens, my mind instantly went to BBQ with those yummy southern greens, like collards or something — not sad lettuce leaves. I was wanting to finally find a vegetarian BBQ I could love. My man was also disenchanted in his sloppy. He was also expecting something completely different! It was a BBQ sandwich with pulled beef, not a sloppy joe style. He was unimpressed with the flavors as well. We really wanted to like this place, but it was just a miss for us food wise. I’m so torn because the drinks were great, the happy hour deals are good too. We might go back at some point and give it another go, but it’s not going to be the first place that pops in our head to go to when in the area.
