My favorite place in the Heights area to get BBQ. Particularly I’d order the chopped beef brisket sandwich w/their mac n’ cheese & waffle iron fries. The prices are not cheap but average. The ice cream is below average BUT it being free makes it taste a little better. The BBQ sauce isn’t amazing but good enough for whatever you’d want it on. Not a 5 out of 5 star rating because like most restaurants on slow days, the food is not consistently delicious: some days it’ll taste too dry or the side(s) can be cold.

Ate here a few weeks back and wasn’t impressed even though we used to eat at Dickie’s in The Woodlands regularly. We decide give them another shot but won’t make that mistake again. Best part if the meal was the soft serve ice cream. Just bad!

Screwed up our catering order. They forgot/lost the order — even though we prepaid. We paid for trimmed brisket — they provided fatty brisket. We paid for 8 lbs — they provided only 4 lbs. Dickey’s manager told us he would refund our purchase — now he won’t even return our phone calls.

I love this place. It is so close to downtown so it’s convenient. The food is soooo good. They also have an Free ice cream machine. I especially love their waffle fries. The reason why I did not give them 5 stars is because I had a bad experience not to long ago. I ordered online in order to pick up and it was 35 minutes till closing. And when I got there to pick up my order I was completely ignored. So I left and the app refunded my money. They should work on training their staff and getting them to atleast smile and not seem like they completely hate their job. Other than that their food is the best bbq around.

Great food! I work next door to this place and its like my go to spot anytime i get hungry. The meats are good, the bbq sauce is one of a kind and they have good desserts.

This place is fast food barbecue. Low quality and overpriced. My $ 13 two meat plate came with brisket(very fatty), turkey breast(kinda weird looking, not too bad though), fried okra(bland), and baked potato casserole(school cafeteria type powdered potatoes covered in shredded cheese — I liked these a lot actually, but they’re not real). The tray also came with 3 slices of onion and about 5 pickle slices. I wish they had a condiment bar. They do have two kinds of barbecue sauce in warmers — I guess you could call that a condiment bar. I liked the regular sauce, but the hot and spicy sauce had a weird sweetness to it. The dining room was kinda dirty, things seemed sticky and there were a lot of empty tables with trays left on them. The bathroom didn’t have the freshest feel and was not adequately stocked. The service was pretty friendly and fairly quick. I’d suggest Rudy’s or Pappa’s for a similar price with much better quality.

After a horrible experience at Chilis,(Next door) my husband and I went to Dickey’s. There, I was greeting by both gentlemen that were working that day. While we were enjoying our delicious ribs and cole slaw, they were busy wiping down tables and asking us if everything was okay. Thank you for your great service! (Saturday 04/04/2015)

The lil hoogie with jalapeño cheese sausage will NOT disappoint. Pinky promise! It came on a fresh little hoogie bun(Hence the name) pickles, onions, bbq sauce and a generous amount of sliced sausage. Good stuff for $ 5. PLUS free vanilla ice cream and cone. SCI-ZORE!!(score)

Ok. Smelled good. Brisket was tender but a little dry. But, it Lacked any smoke ring or smoke flavors. All you got was beaf flavor and the BBQ sauce if you choose to use any. Not saying that’s bad. Just not great in my book. I know some folks don’t like allot of smoke. This is your place. The Ribs were along the same lines. Slow cooked making them tender but no flavor without adding BBQ sauce. Mac n cheese and coleslaw were fine. The restaurant was clean and had good quick service. So no reason to skip but I’m not going out of my way to come back either. $ 16.00 for two meat plate seams high considering portions weren’t that big.

This place is probably the worst“BBQ” place I have tried. We had the«smoked» brisket(not smoked just cooked in the oven but served cold) and my wife didn’t even like the potato salad not beans. Only had one spoon full. What a shame we have been wanted to try this place since it has open since we go to that target. But now we will never return. I rarely post long reviews if you are looking for good brisket in the heights area go to hickory hollow or just go to papas bbq downtown. The young lady that took my order was nice and had a great smile. Good luck to this place.

My birthday month continues and Dickey’s sent me a special deal for a free big BBQ sandwich. There used to be a Dickey’s really close to my apartment in North Carolina so I’m quite familiar with the franchise. This was my first visit to a Houston location and I must say things didn’t run as smoothly as the NC location. I got the big barbecue sandwich with fries and a drink and the manager overcharged me for my meal. We’re talking about a dollar or so here so most customers probably wouldn’t even notice it so I don’t know if it was intentional or an honest mistake. The sandwich was pretty good but the fries were a bit undercooked. After my meal, I was looking for their free ice cream cones but the machine was broken. A good old ice cream makes you feel like a kid again so that was a bummer! There were no forks available since they had not been restocked. A lot of little things added up to make my experience far from memorable. Dickey’s is good for a quick and cheap meal if you’re looking for BBQ, but with us being in Texas and everything, there are a lot of better options for some good BBQ.

Brisket was flavorless and half fat, turkey was pasty white slimy slices of spam looking meat, pulled pork was palatable. French fries overcooked, potato salad is basically mashed potatoes, beans were ok, Mac and cheese tasted like elementary cafeteria. Pecan pie was pathetic. Best part of the meal was the iced tea. Don’t go here. Ever.

I got extremely sick from eating at this location. The food tasted really bad as well. It’s essentially the worst BBQ place in Houston.

Dickey’s will never be a 5 star experience, but this was the worst Dickey’s ever. The girls working the counter looked dirty… not what you want to see working your front counter. The restaurant was trashed… dirty tables, dirty floor. They were out of plastic ware and cups for bbq sauce. I ordered a two meat combo and it came out cold. I had the jalepeno cheese sausage which was so cold that the sausage came out not melted. The brisket was cold and tasteless. I have had good Dickey’s experiences at other restaurants, but not this time. This Dickey’s is an embarrassment to the chain.

Dickeys originated in Dallas. There were only a few locations and it was true BBQ These incarnations in Houston are dickeys attempted at franchising and to me it just doesn’t work very well This is ok food but it is chain BBQ at its mediocre best I agree with another user as what I got was roast beefish not brisket Food portions are small and meats tasted day old not fresh

I asked for a sliced beef plate and they gave me 3 pieces of sliced beef and a hand full of what looked like wet dog food. It’s funny because I’m sure when the employees are sneaking free BBQ dinners home at night to their family, they throw what they served me in the trash and take the nice slices home to their loved ones, but they expect me, a paying customer to pay for this junk, yeah right. They just lost a customer for life.

Ordered ½ lb of brisket, $ 6. Baked potato, $ 6. The owner/operator rung me up which was nice. The brisket was not. It was bone dry, had no flavor or smoke ring. I was starving so I drowned it in bbq sauce and shoved it down. The potato was ok. Not super fresh, it had started to brown a little from over cooking or being old, but in an acceptable range. It had a fair amount of toppings. From my table I can see crumbs on many empty tables. I came for brisket it was bad, worst I’ve had maybe. Won’t be back unless it’s free.
