Puppet theatre, though usually not aimed at a PG audience. That’s right, Houston even has PUPPETTHEATRE. These performances are always entertaining, typically beautiful, and generally thought-provoking. Don’t go thinking paper bag puppets and felt bunnies, either — these are some carefully crafted puppets of all types, including a mix of shadow, rod, hand, string and tabletop puppetry, as well as masks. They almost always perform works that are just for puppets, not puppet adaptations of other plays. I’ll let their website say it best: «Bobbindoctrin Puppet Theatre has been producing original puppet works for the benefit of the Houston community since 1995. Bobbindoctrin provides experimental adult puppet performances with low admission prices and gives actors, directors, playwrights, musicians, sculptors, dancers and engineers a much-needed and unique venue for their art while encouraging theatregoers from all economic strata to attend.»
