When you go here…, remember that there are only two(2) choices you can get ! Regular, Large ! Great soup, if you know then you’ll return . I go out of my way to patronize this restaurant !!!

I’ve been to the other location and this location is just as good, if not better! The soup is delicious and authentic and I keep coming back cause they do it so well. This is the only dish they serve and they only ask you what size you want so be prepared! Very very happy with the bun bo hue here! The large bowl is so huge and worth it for the price! Yum yum!

First time trying this place. They only server one item. The place has very strong smell when I first enter. I don’t like it. So I order togo, but the food is good. Soup base is very tasty, portion is big. I order 2 small, feeds 3 people. Will try it next time.

We ate at this wonderful place on Christmas day at the start of a long trip out of town, really really nice choice! In my quest to at least try all the of the interesting Vietnamese soups I’ve heard about, I found my latest attempt to try Bun Bo Hue to be wonderful! The soup(broth) … I’m in love. Don’t come expecting an extensive menu, you get the big bowl or the small bowl of Bun Bo Hue, that’s it, as all wonderful hole-in-the-wall but amazingly tasty establishments should be. If you are up for an adventure and you aren’t afraid of a spicy, savory, Vietnamese noodle soup — this is your spot. Enjoy, I know I did!

For sure, they have the best Bun Bo Hue in town. You won’t get any disappointed with their food. Pretty big bow of soup and serves with nice veggies on the side. However, service sometimes is rude and unwelcome. But yes, many Asian restaurants in Houston have the same problem with their attitudes and service toward customers. You only come for food, not their service.

My bowl was filled with minced lemongrass it was way too much, too overpowering and a bit salty. The one up north is so much better and cleaner. The restroom smelled so bad! I wish I would’ve never went that way they seriously need to clean that place up.

We came here after our late night arrival into Houston. My friend said their bun bo hue is to die for and they are opened til late. We all got the same thing, bun bo hue. It’s not spicy like what I’m typically used to. The broth is darker and contained more seasoning. The broth itself was average, but the pork blood and pork feet were favorited by my family. It was so good, we ordered take our requesting only pork blood and pork feet without noodles or the rest! Would like to go back to have their pork blood again…

I used to like to come to this one however everything has been lacking the past few times The service here sucks and pretty much non existence, feel like a robot. Broth is not as good as it used to be, less noodles etc… The food is similar but the original one on bellaire test much better, near Hong Kong Market. Do yourself a favor and head down there. People more personable and friendlier at BBH original location Only thing they have going is they are open really late

I used to love this place, their Bun Bo Hue used to be very good but lately, the broth tasted very bland and they did not put enough amount of noodle in the bowl anymore. So sad. What happened? Maybe they change the cooks here, I guess. This is like our weekly spot on Sunday, but after today visit, I would say we will reconsider visit this location in the future, unless they fix the flavor … and by fix I mean to make it as good as it was, please!!! The good thing is they open late, so if you are craving for a bowl of Bun Bo Hue after 10pm, then here is your rescue. But other than that, I don’t see the point why the place makes me excited anymore. But if you have to eat Bun Bo Hue, I would recommend Duc Chuong on 249 hwy rather than this location.

Decent-tasting Bun Bo Hue that opens late for all your late night hungers’ needs. One food item, two sizes: big or small. They also serve great nuoc mat — this green-looking yet refreshing to pair with the soup. However, the amount of meat and noodles we got for each visit has not been consistent. Sometimes we got lots of meat, less noodles and vice versa for other times. Overall, reasonable price, okay service, decent food and drinks that opens late. Would recommend this place to others.

Boo. Just boo. Once upon a time I loved this place. Nice portions, delicious complex broth, probably the best bun bo hue in town. Those days are perhaps over. The last visit was just abysmal. The small I ordered contained half the noodles it usually comes with. I showed the waiter and asked if that was the now normal amount, and he said yes. He then asked if I wanted him to bring more. Um, yeah. I paid for a full amount of noodles. He did end up bringing me more noodles, but that was the last time I saw him until the check came. Besides being stingy with noodles, the broth wasn’t as tasty and complex as previous visits. The plate of garnish had also gotten smaller as well, and the service, while always not that great, has somehow become even worse. The waiters were more interested in standing around watching the game on TV instead of attending to the customers. Too bad, because this was once a favorite late night option for me.

Savory and full of flavor, Bun bo hue is the way to go when you come here. Then again, it’s not like you have much of a selection, because it’s all they serve, food wise. You can choose between small and large, that’s about it. I usually order small but the bowl is still pretty huge. I reccommend adding the bean sprouts and greens that come with the soup, and a spritz of lime. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, add some shrimp paste(the gray purple looking paste in the jar) for some more flavor. The soup has it all– savory, flavorful, meaty broth, steamed pork, fatty beef shank, congealed pigs blood(red/purple tofu looking thing) and perfectly cooked thick rice noodles). There are lots of bold spices and flavors in this bowl of soup as well as a myriad of textures. Give this a try, and I also reccommend ordering the nuoc mat(green drink with jelly and basil seeds). It’s icy cold, refreshing, sweet(not overly sweet) and goes great with your hot bun bo hue. Did I mention that it’s cheap? Service is efficient. Order your soup, get it five minutes later. Done.

Bun Bo Hue is a soup noodle recipe that originated from the«Hue» region in Vietnam and in my opinion, it is quite hard to get it right. Duc Chuong Midnite used to be the go-to place for this item because they made it fairly well. I wouldn’t say it is perfect, but it was close. To be honest, people kind of develop their own recipes for this dish to where you get variations like adding a pineapple into the pot of stock for more flavor, etc. So I don’t even remember if I ever had an authentic bowl as a kid. My mom did so I based it off more from what she had tried. In the past(as in one and a half year ago), Duc Chuong’s Bun Bo Hue was flavorful, and the cut of the beef was just right. Meaty, not too fatty, but had some tendon around it to add a bite. Two weeks ago, the bowl just wasn’t the same anymore. The broth was far less flavorful, and they gave a combination of different cuts of beef. If you are going to skim on quality, I would suggest that you cut the price as well because compared to other Chinatown places, this bowl is considered«pricey»(~10 for a large bowl). Prices are relative, and if the food is good, I can justify a higher price mark, but when you are skimming on quality, I find that as, simply put, «ripping your customers off».

What happened to this place? I’ve eaten here once a couple of years ago and remembered it being decent but not the greatest. Quality sure has plummeted somehow. I knew it even before I took a sip of the broth. The broth looked watered down with no red in color as it is traditionally supposed to have. It lacked flavor and was not spicy, again as traditonally it is supposed to be. They super skimp on the pigs blood which is my favorite part about bun bo bue. I had 1 measley piece in my regular size bowl. Sigh. I basically spent the remainder of my time finishing what I could and discussing with my boyfriend what to write in my Unilocal review haha. I’m quite surprised of some of the positive reviews on this place written this year. Did I come on a bad day or have you guys not tried amazing bun bo hue? Must be the latter. My mom’s bun bo hue could 100% give this place a run for their money.

We stopped here for a late night dinner, and made it just on time. Well technically, a little late but the workers were so nice, they kept it open for us. I got the regular size, and let me warn you, their large is like an XLarge. The bun bo hue was so flavorful, I didn’t really need to add anything except for the vegetables and some hot sauce. I really enjoyed the meat patties(cha) in the dish. It’s slightly peppered, adding a nice spicy kick. The pig’s feet(gio) were fatty and full of flavor. Our family ordered extra meat patties and pig’s feet on the side. I liked how this was an option and fairly inexpensive. If you like bun bo hue, then this is a must try!

I’m so sad to be writing this review. I love bun bo hue, and this was the place to get it. Emphasis on the was. One fateful day, after a Rockets’ playoff game, my bf and I decided to stop here for a midnight meal since they were open late, and I love BBH. I was ¾ into my bowl of noodles and something didn’t feel right. There was a lot more resistance in my medley of vegetables than usual. I spit it out, and lo and behold, there was a long strand of hair tangled within the cabbage. Obviously traumatized, I could not take another bite and was scarred ever since. That is, until a couple days ago. I was craving it, we were in the area, so we decided to stop by. My mind kept telling me no, but I couldn’t resist. I gave it another shot. We sat down, ordered our food, and waited while sipping on our Ngoc Mat. When they placed the bowl in front of me, I was… confused? What happened to all the meat? Where are all the noodles?! What used to be a bowl full of flavor and food, was no longer there. There were like, 3 slices of beef, and 4 bites of noodles. The broth was watered down which I had to compensate by filling my bowl with chili and fish sauce. Another establishment I used to love gone downhill. Be careful if you decide to visit, you might discover a couple of unwanted surprises.

First of, the food was tasteless but I wouldn’t write a review just because of it. I wrote a review to warn you to be careful when you’re eating the noodle soup. I found a total of 5 dead flies in my bowl while eating eat. Hell I might even swallowed some. You have been warned

This is the best Bun Bo Hue I ever had. I’m not even hyping it up, but their broth is unique. I give it a fucking 9.5÷10 stars. Shit is fucking bomb. The workers were nice, they’re also not stingy with the vegetables. They’ll give you a pile of veggies for the bun bo hue. They have a good variety of drinks also. Slushies, boba, and other refreshments. Come give this place a try when you’re in Houston.

Excellent bun bo hue(bbh)! When you’re outside on a hot and humid day in Houston, and their restaurant door is open — {{BOOM}} — the aroma of lemon grass and spices just hits you like something else. It’s a good feeling. The air is intoxicating. I just wouldn’t want to swim in it. Maybe. Anyhow, the broth is flavorful, the portions are generous. I wasn’t a pig foot fan until now, but the smell and taste of the broth just makes me crave bbh in a way that makes me want to eat everything up. Compliments to the chef. This place is going to be around for awhile and they open late for all the night owls in the area. It’s an establishment in Chinatown that is here to stay.

Possibly some of the best bun bo hue I’ve had in Houston. It’s simple — you can order a regular or large. The regular is a decent size for me. The large is LARGE. Like enormous. Large. I’m determined to finish it one of these days. The broth is so flavorful. Everything in the soup is tasty and tender. Personally, I don’t think there’s enough noodles in the soup, but it was still enough to keep me satisfied for a couple hours. It also comes with a side of vegetables that I like to dump into my soup — it’s delicious. As far as service, it’s normal service you would get at a quick service vietnamese restaurant typically anywhere. Besides bun bo hue, they serve a variety of drinks with tapioca. Smoothies, slurpies, tea. I’ve tried the Jasmine green tea(when they messed up my Jasmine milk tea order) which was flavorful but a little too sweet for my liking. The tapioca balls were a good flavor and consistency. I’d definitely come back though. It’s a good change from eating phở all the time. Also, they’re open until midnight every day. 2am on Friday and Saturday. Super convenient.
