Love this spot for Sunday brunch.(I almost don’t want to give 5 stars because I don’t want it to get too busy). The food and coffees are great! We usually have our twin toddlers in tow and they always make us feel welcome and accommodated.

Attention dog owners– Canopy is a dog friendly restaurant with table service. Imagine that. Meaning, I don’t have to tie up my dog, go inside, get menus, get my husband’s order, go back inside, order and pay, and wait for our order to come up. This has been a hard concept to find. Don’t let this make you think that is the only reason we enjoyed this restaurant. Our service was top notch. Our server actually apologized for letting my tea get close to empty… I don’t think that has ever happened to me before. We ordered flatbread and shrimp n grit fritters off of the happy hour menu. I absolutely loved their Mediterranean flatbread. The fritters were good but I’m not a huge shrimp fan, this was my husband’s choice and he almost ordered a second plate because he enjoyed them so much. Did I mention the patio is also covered, with sunscreens? We also ordered a salad which was good too. My husband wants to make this our new Saturday lunch spot because of how much we liked it. It’s not in the epicenter of Montrose but it should be on your map.

This is for brunch. Great service, food came out relatively quick and very good and strong mimosas. The food was good but was not anything unique or outstanding you won’t find at most brunch spots. I had the omelet is it was very good but it compares to most places that do omelets for brunch. They do have valet parking and a small lot behind the restaurant.

Came here for a friend’s birthday. It was around 1pm on a Sunday. The atmosphere was nice. I ordered the Salmon. It was really good, but it was missing something. I wouldn’t mind going again, and trying some of the other food. I heard a lot of the other food was good, so I think I could go again and try some other dishes. I am taking away a star, because the service was lacking. The waiter was nice, but MIA often. And forget any refills on your drinks.

This review is for their brunch. I give 3.5 stars, because I think the food is better than average, but it’s not quite a 4, a place I’d go back to very often. The food was pretty good, nothing really stood out as great, nothing terrible either. Service was the worst part. The water lady came by to check on us more often than the waiter. I ordered the buttermilk fried pork loin, a pitcher of blood orange mimosa and the bread pudding. The pork loin was the best, but what made it great was the gravy. I subbed the grits for crispy potatoes. The fruit cup was good, but the canaloupe wasn’t sweet. The bread pudding was ok, since it was moist, it had a strong amaretto? flavor. Not the best I’ve had by any means. I sampled my friends breakfast pizza and that was pretty good too, but mainly because bacon makes anything taste good. I also sampled the coconut cream pie and this was pretty good, but not the best I’ve had. My biggest complaints are the portion size of the pork loin and the service.

Went for dinner — service was good, but the food is overpriced and was only okay. I ordered the much-lauded buttermilk fried pork with garlic mashed potatoes and jalapeño cream sauce. The pork was decent, but I wish it had been crispier. If I’m going to eat something fried it better be really nice and crispy and amazing. This didn’t quite hit the mark. The garlic mashed potatoes were bland — I couldn’t taste any garlic. The cream sauce didn’t have detectable jalapeño-ness. Disappointing. My dining companions liked the Mac and cheese and said it was very creamy.

The food is awesome. I’ve tried the roasted beet salad and the eggplant stack and both were excellent. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very classy even though it’s a more casual place. Service is bad, which is what is keeping it from 5 stars. The waiters have been friendly, which is why it wasn’t knocked down to three stars, however, I’ve never been there when it was crowded and you hardly ever see the waiters come around to refill your drink/see if you’re done with your meal. Be prepared to hang around waiting for your bill for a while after you finish eating. Valet parking.

Went to Canopy for lunch with a friend today at noon. Surprisingly, it was pretty empty inside for a busy lunch hour, but it was packed on the patio(probably due to the amazing weather). It even got a little warm which is typical of a Houston November. The only reason I’m giving this place a four star rating instead of a five star is due to the parking and the service. Parking along Montrose is ridiculous and the small parking lot is an inconvenience. There is valet but even then it took 10 minutes for us to get our car because it had been parked 6 blocks over. Also, our waitress brought us wine that we didn’t order, and when we told her the mistake she just said«sorry». It also upped our bill because a glass of okay quality wine is $ 9 – 11! A little overpriced compared to restaurants in the same price range as Canopy. Other than that, the food is phenomenal! I ordered the Brie and prosciutto sandwich with the arugula and grapefruit salad — yum! My friend ordered the empanadas plate and their soup of the day(creamy asparagus with pine nuts). I sampled hers and it was excellent, very fresh and very flavorful. This is my third time coming to Canopy and I would be back again. Their restaurant next door turns into a small plates/bar for happy hour/dinner. Excellent cocktails for the price.
Unlike most brunch restaurants that slap syrup, sausage, and excess grease on your plate, Canopy revolutionizes the aspect of brunch. I would label my entire brunch experiencing as refreshing. Natural lighting encompasses the room that has a backdrop of landscape wall paper. Familiies and dates are gathered in unison to share meals crafted with local ingredients fit for the season you’re in. Hydrate from the Houston heat with fresh coconut water and other hand crafted coolers. The food is even better. It’s the first time I’ve had french toast without feeling like I was going to clog my arteries. I’d like to return to Canopy to try their lunch and dinner menu because my overall brunch experience was very delightful, even on my wallet.

The restaurant itself is beautiful, I love the décor & how organically everything flows. It has great natural lighting during the day. The patio seems inviting but a little crowded. The parking situation is a nightmare, fins street parking to make things easier for yourself. I’ve been here twice for brunch with groups of 10 people & had different experiences both times. Reservations were made in both visits some they knew we were coming. The food was consisitent &delicious both times. The first time everything was great, we were seated immediately, the service was attentive & efficient, the food arrived in a timely fashion & all at the same time, refiils were made without being asked, etc. Needless to say it was highly enjoyable! I left feeling content & more than happy to return. The second time was the polar opposite with the exception of the food being spot on. The waiter was all over the place, the food arrived staggered in 5 minute intervals there was no way people could have waited without their food becoming cold, we had to flag the waiter down multiple times to get water refills so we didn’t even ask for more mimosas. Also my friend had a piece of plastic wrap in her quiche, not on top but literally mixed in with the custard o_O It was a kodak moment seeing her pull it out of her mouth. It took us 10 minutes to get someone to send our waiter over, they obviously comped her meal. I was surprised by the contast of both visits. As I said the food was consistenly good both times. I wonder how the dinner menu compares & will have to try it in the future.

I’ve been here a few times, but mostly for a private monthly business social(Social Media Breakfast). Servers were exceptionally attentive, but it’s hard to accurately gage a restaurant at a private event. Recently I got the opportunity to visit canopy for brunch and the service was just as good. There were about 15 – 20 brunch dishes to choose from, which I personally prefer. Too many options is overwhelming. I decried on the smoked salmon, and I cleaned the entire plate! For me, the most important element of brunch isn’t the food but the mimosas(lol). These were perfectly potent! Not too opaque and more on the translucent side which means MORE champaign. Win! $ 5 – 6 a glass depending on flavor. I just kept it traditional. Although, I felt $ 30 for a pitcher was a little too pricey.

If you’re looking for a nice little place to have breakfast, this place has a great atmosphere. It’s great for quaint, I tante get togethers. The food wasn’t anything special, but it was good. I had a breakfast sandwich with a side of fruit. Be careful if you go on a Friday because sometimes Houston Social Media Breakfast #smbhou meets there and it’s very crowded and loud.

On a mission with my friends to try a new brunch spot every time we get together on Sundays. I chose this place and it didn’t disappoint. It was a beautiful day so we sat on the patio which was very comfortable even during the heat of the day. I had the migas off the brunch menu and thought it was very good. We also ordered a pitcher of the white peach mimosas and it was a hit. Great flavor and pretty strong. There’s also a small bar in the back that my friends and I sat at while we waited for our table. Complimentary valet parking even though the spots were they park your car are within walking distance but ok I’ll take it. I’d definitely come back.

This was my second visit to Canopy and it left me somewhat confused and disappointed. We sat in the bar to have a drink and lite bites. There were 3 other 2-top tables — 8 people total in the bar(including us) — keep that in mind. We ordered our drinks and the calamari telling the bartender that we would start there and probably order more. We waited about 10 minutes for the drinks and the bartender finally came back over to ask us to repeat the order — ummm… no bueno mi amigo. He returned and brought the drinks and we ordered the shrimp fritters and the empanada trio also. We waited almost 30 minutes for the food(bar food) and to our surprise it all came out at once. I guess this bartender knows little about pacing food, as the customer orders. He never came to check on our table or any other table(any of the other 3). One gentleman had to go to the bar and ask him for more wine and then had to return to the bar to request his check — still only the 8 of us in the bar total. Immediately after, the same bartender went to another table that had ordered food and asked them to repeat their order — I sat in total disbelief. After we finished, I did something that I rarely do. I saw the manager in the office and decided to have a quick chat about our experience. I told her that we were not mad, but that the service from the bartender was pretty poor. She politely listened and actually seemed like she was concerned. I hope that she uses the feedback to help make him stronger and create a better experience for other customers. The food was okay — the shrimp fritters were probably the best. They were a bit small, but the sauce was really good. The calamari was a bit weak and the dipping sauces didn’t really compliment them — one was sweet chili sauce from Sysco I am pretty sure. The empanadas were okay — not really memorable. Honestly, the food was just average. The service was poor and we left really disappointed. We will probably go back at some point, but the bitter taste in our mouths will have to subside before we can consider it.

Canopy is a reasonable place to grab some food if you’re hungry and in the area, but nothing about this place screams brunch destination. Its brunch is serviceable, and the décor is nice, but prices are a little steep, especially for a place that doesn’t have the best view. I ordered the grilled breakfast flatbread pizza, and I enjoyed it. It was nothing earth-shattering, but carbs, cheese, arugula, and fried egg are a naturally tasty combination. Coming here for Saturday brunch was a last minute decision, but there was no wait. There are some valet spots up front, but street parking and a small satellite lot are available for people who prefer to park for free.

Finally made it here for breakfast! I’ve been for dinner but breakfast is the big hit. Highly recomend it. Tried several items everything here is fresh and delish. They make their own bread and it’s so good! This is one of those places that I love to take people too because there is a wide variety of options and everything is always quality. The service is so-so. I will be here all the time.

I was really craving some migas for brunch at a patio and thought of Canopy. Their heaters were not working out on the patio, but decided to chill outside anyways.(Their wait was ~30 mins for a inside table on a Sunday afternoon). I got the miga’s for brunch that came a side of beans, crispy potatoes and mixed fruit bowl. It was just so-so and didn’t compare up to some other places I’ve had. Did it satisfy my migas craving? Nope, it just okay. We also ordered their recommended quiche w/grilled broccolini and quinoa-couscous salad. Quiche was not bad, but I reallllllly liked the broccolini, now I’m actually going to try making it :) Street or valet parking.

I came here after spending the day at the museum. It’s a very nice, upscale, casual place. The food was pretty good, but a bit on the higher end of things(~20 $). Portions were decent as well. I got one of their burgers and was definitely full by the end of it. It was good, but honestly, nothing really stood out about it. Not that memorable.

I came here with a friend to celebrate his birthday on a Friday night. It’s located in the same strip center as Sweet Cup on Montrose, but every spot is designated to a particular business there so you’re left with either street or valet parking. I was surprised to walk in and find the place to be quite empty on a Friday night. We opted to sit outside on the patio since the weather was nice and beautiful. I ordered the grilled tandoori spiced salmon which sat on a bed of rice pilaf. The portions are huge, but since it was so good, I managed to devour it all. My friend ordered the BBQ pork chop, and it was quite tasty as well. We didn’t order any desserts, but all their options sounded tasty. Service was fine. Since it wasn’t busy, it was easy to get our waiter’s attention. He also didn’t bother or pressure us either which is always a plus! Based on the other Unilocal reviews, I’m guessing this place is mostly known for brunch, which I haven’t tried. However, I must say my dinner experience wasn’t bad. You can even skip dessert and just go next door to Sweet Cup!
