This establishment is now closed! Stopped by to try it after reading a few reviews and the lady inside informed me that the taco place has closed and was being redone with new owners into a Italian restaurant set to open someone in October

The food was ok not much of a selection but I must say the lady that works in there was super nice. Also the lemonade hit the spot.

Stopped by for lunch and the place was empty which made me weary about going in but I decided to give it a try. As for cleanliness the other reviews are correct the place was squeaky clean. There was only one person running the place which was an older Hispanic woman. She was nice and and took the time to explain what was on the menu. I tried the fajita & desebrada and they were both good. My only complaint would have to be the filing portions. When she filled the first taco with fajita I was kind of like really that’s all I get? The flour taco was really skimpy and the corn taco I felt was a lil closer to what I’m used to but still skimpy. They flour vs corn tortilla is the same price. Maybe they should charge a bit more for flour and make it a good meat to tortilla ratio. Nonetheless I’d give them another try based on price, service and cleanliness.

Came in to try for lunch… can’t beat 99 cent tacos… service was great, but the el pastor taco was dry with no flavor at all. Tried the pork with red sauce taco and that was much better. Probably won’t go back again.

Man it was my first time here because my friend referred me. I really enjoyed how authentic their food was AND how cheap it is. $ 1 tacos?! Man it doesn’t get better than that… Jaime Sr. and Jaime Jr. definitely bring quality food to this area.

In town for work this week and have made taquerias a priority. The owners of this very clean, well kept storefront taqueria enthusiastically shared samples of their culinary spin on a wide variety of authentic fillings. As good as the breakfast tacos were I had to go back to the counter for seconds of both the Puerco de Salsa and Barbacoa which could not have been more patiently slow cooked and sauced to subtle perfection. In the last week, we have sampled delicious tacos from, Taco Crave, Taco Express, Mario’s Tacos, Tacos Los Gemolas, Taqueria Ruby and Sierra Madre taco. All were very good and worthy of their many Unilocal reviews, but Cantaro Taco Bar earns the top spot with little debate. Bravo!

Great taco’s. Can’t beat the price. I came in for 3 tacos. I had 2 chorizo and egg and the pork in red sauce. Both were delicious. If I could change one thing I would put the price on the menus.

Wow I was very happy with the breakfast tacos I had. The green hot sauce was delicious and spicy just how I like! The tortillas were good I ate flour. The beans on my chorizo and egg tacos were very good tasted like grandmas!!! I will be here to make sure to share this place with my husband and kids! Yumm!!! I would highly recommend this place!

Just saw the place as I was driving by. Decided to try it out. Two thumbs up! Delicious, authentic Mexican tacos. They don’t speak English well, but God damn, they can fix a taco. And at .99 cents per taco, you get your money’s worth. I tried 4 different tacos(chorizo and egg, barbacoa, pork in red sauce, and the special) and loved them. Finally, a clean, authentic Mexican taco restaurant! Check them out!

My first Mexican joint in Houston. Was starving for some breakfast/lunch and ran across this most friendly place. Had the eggs and chorizo with corn tortillas. Yummy with the homemade salsa. They even gave me a sampler of the ‘mix’ taco. To die for. Entire bill with a drink was only 4 bucks!!! I’ll be back every week!!!

While my rating reflects four stars, I would actually give this place 3 ½ stars. I decided to give this place a try based on the previous Unilocaler’s recommendation. I also want to be upfront and let you know that my rating applies to breakfast only. First, the good. The place is a small family ran shop that has fresh food. The staff is extremely friendly and very personable. The restaurant is squeaky clean. I also like that the food was covered on the steam table when not being served. What could be improved. The tortillas are definitely not homemade. They tasted like something I could buy from the grocery store. A good homemade tortilla can really make or break a taco. While the menu options are definitely authentic, it would be great to have bacon available during breakfast hours. The restaurant overall is pretty new. I imagine they are still trying to find their rhythm. I will give this place a little while then try again.

Far be it for me to pass up on the opportunity to be a «First To Review» an awesome locally owned new business as we have in Cantaro Taco Bar. My wife had called me the other night to meet for dinner after work and check out this new taco bar she had noticed on her way to work. Both times I’ve been in the service and food have been consistently great and this is definitely going to be a frequent stop for me. The store has been staffed by the same two gentlemen both times I’ve been in, one seems responsible for the front line customer service & order taking while the other preps the food. Both of them are extremely welcoming and kind. They have corn and flour tortillas(probably the only drawback is the tortillas aren’t made onsite), but the tortillas they use are good and a tortilla should never be the highlight of a great taco. They serve traditional Mexican tacos and have a wide variety of topping choices: Pork in Red Sauce(My favorite) Chorizo and Eggs Chorizo w/Beans Potatoes in Chipotle Pepper(they gave me this as a freebie sample today… very good, potatoes were very tender and perfectly seasoned) Ground beef w/potatoes Pork in green sauce Beef in sauce Pork and beef stew Jerk beef and eggs Mexican BBQ/Barbacoa Grill/fajita meat Pork skins(chicharrones) in green suace Roasted pork Everything I’ve tried so far has been delicious… I plan on working my way through the whole list so I can try them all. Also learned today they open starting at 6am so are available for breakfast as well. Definitely recommend checking this place out…
