I stopped by for lunch last week and I wasn’t impressed. I made it in time for the lunch specials which were the general price range of $ 7 — $ 9 options. I didn’t have to wait for seating & my server came quickly to get my drink order. Their chips weren’t that great and the salsa was OK. I noticed this place does warm salsa vs. cold/room temp salsa. The chips were store bought, not the good thin, crispy fresh ones you get at many places. I was feeling adventurous so I ordered the carnitas. The portion was a pretty good size for the price & to be considered the lunch plate. Food was freshly prepared, not barely warm from sitting in steam table for the lunch rush. DISCLAIMER: This was my 1st time having carnitas ever. Now that we got that out of the way… lol From descripitions I’ve heard, carnitas is a dish that you can’t wait for grandma or mom to make. Like the green sauce of carnitas should be flavorful & savory… the pork should be really moist & tender. Ummm…that was not the case here unfortunately. The meat itself was a bit dry and didn’t have any flavor to it. Not sure if it’s supposed to be this way, but the green sauce was served separately. The sauce itself was pretty bland. I’ve had better salsa/sauces from a taco truck or the lil mom & pop restaurants. Like I said, I’ve never had carnitas, but have a feeling it’s supposed to be better than what this place served. I received good service, but wasn’t impressed with the food at all.
