OMG I think I’m gonna cry!!! I went by yesterday after work & the lot was completely empty. Patio had the gate drawn closed… my fave lil bubblie escape is gone! I tried calling in a last effort of desperation, but heard the heartbreaking sound of «dooodoodooooh…the number you have dialed is no longer in service»… Bye Cha… I’ll miss you dearly :’(

Not a bad selection. A bit overpriced, especially on the glass prices. As for their wine knowledge, all I can say is, «if you can’t fascinate’m with the facts, baffle’m with the BS». Bring your waders. Better options in town.

I used to go to Cha often. it WAS amazing. The management and staff were very knowledgeable about the champagnes and wines they carried. I went this Saturday night and it was AWFUL. The place was a mess, with only 3 staff members running around like crazy. After waiting a good 5 minutes at the bar, I finally got to order. The first 2 bottles that I requested they were both out of. The employee tried to offer me the last ounce of the bottom of the 1st choice, and 2 half empty bottles of my 2nd choice saying it was just like a new full one. Then we discovered a bar of FALSETEETH sitting on the bar top. It was extremely disturbing to say the least, and the girl could have at least offered an apology for the situation. After she walked away leaving us, we tracked down another staff member. I asked if they were under new management and he said yes, I am in charge. I quickly explained the last 10 minutes and he had no sort of apology or understand for his business lack of service. He suggested a bottle, and $ 49 dollars later we were finally out of there. I would AVOID this place at all cost until they get things under control, or get a boost in management. Really used to love this place, and was extremely disappointed.

Love this place, great wine and awesome champagne. Staff is cool and very helpful. The venue is small, cozy and love the Montrose feel. The price is right.

I really like Cha. I’ve been several times and, while they definitely need to hire more staff, the service is accommodating even if it can be slow at times. The bartenders make great recommendations and suggest good pairings as well. Their duck and truffle brie is amazing and the wine selection is great with various price points. I have yet to try any of the champagnes(even though it is a champagne bar) but maybe I’ll go for a flight next time. I’m more of a full-bodied red than bubbly girl, but maybe they can change that.

Nice atmosphere. Great selection of wine and champagne. Came in the middle of them setting up for an album release party so seating was limited. Ordered a nice bottle of wine and the BBQ duck pizza. YESS I SAIDDUCK. To my surprise it was really good. Ill definitely return

meh, this place isnt all its cracked out to be. The drinks are okay but not great. The prices are a little high but doable for a wine bar. The interior is nice and the staff was friendly so I wouldnt be opposed to trying this place out again, i probably wouldnt ever suggest to go though. Only bc i wasnt blown away by the potency of the drinks. if they were stronger and better tasting I could justify the prices… but i cant.

I really enjoyed this place. We went late last night, I had the«classic» it was very good. The prices are a-bit high but who should be drinking their weight in Champagne anyway. The Live music was great, as is the 2nd story patio with the comfy couches! Its great for a TX night.

Cha has definitely stepped up its game since my first review. With a great new staff, the place has settled in and has a definite profile among Houston wine bars. The wine list has some excellent finds on it(my new favorite, Demoiselle, and an ever-changing selection of mostly old-world bottles). Since its focus is Champagne, that’s where you find the most depth on the menu, and many of the true Champagnes are well-priced. For new world bubbles or other types of wine, the selection is naturally more narrow, but whoever is buying the wine has an excellent palette, as there’s really not a ‘miss’ anywhere on the list. I’ve only had cheese and meat from the food selection and the portions are generous and nicely presented. The upstairs patio is great when the weather is nice. Happy hour specials and interesting special events reward the followers on social media. I’ll definitely start visiting more often!

I like this place. They had a good wine and champagne menu. The waiters were knowledgable and attentive. They also have a nice outdoor terrace. I am not a big fan of the prices though, this is Houston after all. my friend had ordered a glass of Champagne for $ 14 plus tax plus tip…

Janell is awesome! Good deals on wine. Chill spot inside and on patio. Live music Sundays. But most of all Janell’s service is just awesome.

Funny story,.we stopped by here after a play at Stages and sent the husbands to the bar for some drinks. The bartendar sees 2 guys at the bar, one of them(my hubby) orders 2 drinks and then the bartendar walks off because he thinks they are TOGETHER! The guys had to call him back over so the other husband can order 2 more drinks. The bartendar apologized and laughed it off, even calling it an «epic fail». The place was very nice, has a great lounge-y back room and soft music playing.

This is the fourth wine bar for the weekly UYE — Wine Down Wednesday Installment(my pick). I’ve been on a sparkling wine and champagne bender ever since the wine conference(Thanks Farrah). I mean who doesn’t like tiny little bubbles in their drink. Don’t judge me. The décor and look of this place is very modern(very light colors). The couches are really comfortable. It is a great place for a group of people requiring space. It never seems to be busy spot but, the happy hour here is pretty awesome which includes $ 20 for selected bottles(wine, sparkling, Champagne, etc…), $ 5 wine glass, beer and light bite specials. I’ve partaken in the $ 20 bottles which somehow seems to turns out to be two bottles and never just one. The staff is very knowledgeable about wines(ask Warren as he could talk to the bartender about their knowledge of wines for hours at a time which is typically usual for him at a wine bar). The service is quick and attentive. I always leave this place with a smile. =) I wonder why?

Oh how I love champagne! Then why did I give CHA only 2 stars? Oh goodness, where do I begin. I had a friend in town who shares a love of champagne with me and she wanted to go to places that Austin didn’t have. So I figured we would give CHA a try! We were ready to have some fun pretty early so we checked out when Happy Hour was. The web site said 4 to 7. We thought no problem. We get there and its pretty much empty, but I kinda enjoy that since I hate crowds. We said we wanted to sit outside since it was an amazing day! We were escorted through the tiny garden up to the balcony/terrace thing. Plenty of comfy seating we took advantage of. The terrace also has a pretty nice view. I am sure it was nicer before Whole Foods started building their Montrose location. Our waitress hands us the menu and points out where the wine and food is, but no happy hour menu. Also our menus had scriblings from other visitors on our menus of which wines and champagnes they liked. Did not look professional at all. If I was the owner I would have thrown them out. I asked what the happy hour specials were. Our waitress did not know so she went down and asked what the happy hour specials were. While she was gone the boys realized there was no beer menu with what we had been handed. She told us happy hour was 25% off any bottle and some glasses were $ 5 but she really didn’t know which ones. Well I wanted a bottle anyways so we picked out(to be truthful) the cheapest sweet champagne they had which was about $ 32. I was happy. The boys then asked about beer and what was happy hour, she had to go ask what they had and what the prices were. We also asked if any food was on Happy Hour. She had to ask about that as well. Why did I ask about each one of those things? Because the web site has a very specific Happy Hour menu that I was excited about that was totally different from what we were told. Not cool. When the champagne arrived I realized it was a blush champagne which wasn’t what I ordered, but it was pink and tasted good so I didn’t complain since I figured it was the blush version that was $ 4 more. I could deal with that. So the boys decided to get two of their fancy beers, the Imperial Russian stout and an IPA of some sorts. We also decided to try the white truffle oil pizza. The pizza took a while, but I am guessing the oven wasn’t hot since there were few others there. It was decent. Nothing amazing, but I would eat it again if someone wanted it. We slowly finish our drinks and decide we wanted to move on for some dinner so Laura could experience some more Houston places. We went downstairs to pay the bill. We had been given the wrong champagne. Luckily the bottle we ended up getting was $ 45 dollars and not the $ 600 bottle. But when I questioned it the lady only said sorry. I also questioned the 25% for happy hour and she didn’t really answer my question. So not only did I have to pay for a bottle I didn’t order(which was good) but she didn’t try to soften the blow at all. I should have pushed a little more but after drinking half a bottle of champagne I was not completely there. The rest of the bill came out fine. They were also nice enough to split it for us. I docked points for how disorganized this place was and that the web site was not correct. I politely check web sites to make sure I can afford a place I go to. I do not appreciate it when a web site is incorrect. It also really bugged me that I could not hold on to a happy hour menu, I like to see the prices, I’m a visual person. Maybe in the distant future I will be back. I had really hoped to make this a normal bar for me to go to. This will not be the case.

«Burgundy makes you think of silly things, Bordeaux makes you talk about them, and Champagne makes you do them.» –Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin …And perhaps that’s why I love the bubbly. Actually, two things keep this girl smilin’: Champagne and cupcakes.(But bad CHA doesn’t offer cupcakes, so I guess that means I just need to drink up s’more bubbly.) For years, I’ve come across many Champagne bars in other cities and was envious that my beloved hometown of Houston didn’t have many to call its own until earlier this year.(Oh, wait. There’s Boom Boom Room which I had not been to in years.) And finally I checked out CHA one lovely Thursday eve. This places is adorbs times 10. It’s a boutique bar, chic — however dark and inviting — and best of all, the bartenders that I met where some cool cats.(One trend I found at those other Champagne bars was that the servers were sna-hoo-tay.) Our bartender recommended a nice Prosecco without the pressure of purchasing anything pricey; she left us alone to chat and only peeked in to first see if we liked our bev and second, to offer refills. They have an upper patio that overlooks Waugh and the small greenery you can see from Allen Parkway, and on these past recent nights, it makes for a perfect eve for sipping outside. I haven’t tried any of their bites, but from what all my friends have talked about, they’re worth ordering. I thought about deducting a star for it being dead empty on a Thursday night, but that’s no fault of theirs. Guess it’s now my civic Unilocal duty to help spread the good word of CHA to get more peeps to check it out. :)

Oh man, I’m so torn y’all. I REALLY want to say ASGOODASITGETS … but my big heart wants to knock off some stars … but it’s a champagne bar … so … oh … I give up on this rating system. I had heard talk of a champagne bar opening and my heart skipped a beat. Then, Houston Tidbits came across my inbox with an offer for a FREE flight of champagne with the super secret code only valid for one week. Unilocal rated it as a $$$ … which sortof scares me so I did some digging only to find no menu, price list or working phone number. But the twittersphere assured me I would be fine and not have to miss a car payment to enjoy a glass of champagne. So it was on. Tip: as of 4.28.10 there is no sign out front. It’s in the strip-mall/store fronts adjacent to Jack in the Crack on Waugh. There was plenty of parking when we arrived at 5:30pm. Bartender was oh-so-friendly — and maybe a little dreamy, too. Ok, you’re serving me free glasses of champagne … I was in love. There’s a little outdoor upstairs deck that is also dreamy — but only a handful of seating areas. The inside is small, 60s mod with a some very haute & groovy accents. After the flight, I ponied up $ 13 for a glass of my new bubbly boyfriend: Bisson Prosecco. You’re looking at $ 7−16ish per glass of wine or chompers. The men next to us were very vocally enjoying their cheese plate. Here’s my tale of whoa … not only can this not be my new regular spot because of I’m poor … I was heartbroken to see foie gras on the menu. It’s so hard for me to patron a place that serves foie gras. Long story long: if they institute happy hour pricing or bring in some cheaper stock and get rid of the inhumanely tortured duck — you can have me CHA.

So my girlfriend had another 21st birthday recently. For modesty, we shant reveal which one it was. For the celebration, I thought it would be a great idea to do our post-dinner going-out pants party Ron Burgundy-style. That’s right, we stayed classy. — Fact #1: As of March 20, Cha Champagne & Wine Bar had 295 fans on Facebook. — Fact #2: It also had 3 reviews on Unilocal. — Fact #3: It has one other Google listing, at something called . — Fact #4: None of these websites carried Cha Champagne & Wine Bar’s phone number. — Opinion Masquerading as Fact #1: Bringing a group of friends(including 5 cars) someplace you’ve never been to and can’t call is a good idea. — Opinion Masquerading as Fact #2: Finding this place is easy(it’s located next to a Bank of America, which took about 17 circle-rounds to figure out). — Opinion Masquerading as Fact #3: Seeing something called a «Guava Lamp» and thinking that would be a suitable alternative. — Indisputable Fact #1: Cha Champagne & Wine Bar was closed on a Saturday(!) night. We ended up at Block 7, and I definitely won’t live this one down for a while. Have additional tips on this business? Yes, I do. Alcohol: I definitely needed some. Parking: Empty Lot. Like, zero cars. Good for groups: If you like playing car tag. Music: The sound of silence. Best Nights: Saturday.(Cue Borat voice.) NOTTTT! Happy Hour: Definitely not the one we spent driving around Waugh. Smoking: My girlfriend’s face until that first glass of wine at B7.

Awesome with a capital A! This champagne and wine bar is one of the newest additions to the Allen Parkway Corridor and will hopefully be here to stay for a long while. I stopped in here the other night on the invite of a friend and was utterly pleased with the décor, design, service and menu options. The owner was nice enough to give us some background on the best picks on the menu and a little background on the birth of this snazzy bar. After conversing I decided on a glass of the Cono Sur Pinot Noir and my friend ordered a bottle of the Laurent-Perrier Brut Rose, which I was lucky enough to get a sample of. The wine list offers some great picks and the«by the bottle» list is extensive enough for novice and experienced wine connoisseurs. The champagne list also offers a nice dimension that most of your typical wine bars do not. The food menu is somewhat limited, but I was able to try the cheese plate and their prosciutto, tomato and cheese pizza both of which were absolutely delish! The cheeses were so fresh and flavorful, and served along side water crackers, honey and walnuts. The pizza had a soft, thin crust with superbly fresh toppings and a tasty tomato sauce. The décor is very mod with straight-backed, square-armed sofas, a great«lego-esque» red feature wall in the VIP room, comfy velor arm chairs and multiple seating combinations throughout to accommodate groups of all sizes. The outdoor patio is definitely going to be a hit once the weather gets more consistent and warms up a bit. There is a upper and lower level with bistro tables and a water feature on the lower, and lounge style sofas and chairs on the upper level. Add this place to your bookmark list for this spring… because you definitely want to be there!

Where does a gal go when she wants a glass of bubbly? CHA, of course! This hip, new place is a great place to meet a friend or group. Located off of Waugh, it is tucked into the corner of a strip center. The parking lot is small and it looks like«forced» valet but the owner told me it’s optional, you can self park your car or use the valet service. The interior is 60’s contemporary with comfy seats scattered about. The bar dominates the main room and there is a small VIP room tucked behind it. Can you call ahead and reserve the room? No problem! The champagne and wine list is impressive, their food menus is limited but I believe that is out of necessity as I overheard someone mention that the kitchen was the size of a postage stamp. I ordered a bottle of bubbly and the cheese plate. The cheese selection included a nice slab of stilton which is paired with honey and walnuts. Very nice combination. I also tried a slice of the prosciutto & basil flatbread pizza which was very tasty(and not salty!). The outdoor area is very cool with several tables and the upper deck is beautifully furnished. I can’t wait to go back when the weather is nice so I can sit outside.
