Food is very disappointing, but the people were very friendly.

Tucked away in an unpretentious strip center on the east edge of Woodland Heights, this neighborhood gem has been a favorite of mine for years. Customers are greeted like family, and the food is always very tasty, fresh and piping hot. The spicy crispy fish is my favorite here: golden strips of flaky white fish with a nice breading which makes me think of them as the fish equivalent of chicken tenders. They’re served with rice, steamed broccoli and a delicious tangy red sauce very unlike traditional Gulf Coast style cocktail sauce. In a city full of good/great seafood restaurants, this is my go-to comfort food when I want plain fish with no fanciness, just great taste. The lunch special menu is a great value, too. Good egg rolls, too!

Today was my second visit in a week. First time was a packed house, today only two tables. Both times service was extremely prompt and over-the-top-friendly. Prices are exceptional, especially for lunch menu(served until 3PM – very generous). The restaurant is clean and the food? Piping hot and well prepared. Love the taste as did my lunch mates both times. I’ll be back again and again.

I have been going to this place since I was a kid and the food has only gotten better! They are so nice and the service is excellent! Not always on the diet plan but it’s a great cheat meal if you ask me! If ever in the heights area this is a must try place. they also received the Marvin zindler award!

Steak kew is my fave! We get it with rice and the waitress is so nice when I have left over steak she puts it all in a to go box and adds a bit more rice she knows I like to take it for lunch or eat it for dinner later I love them

The food was decent, but the service was awful. The quality of the food was slightly better than a China Wok-style restaurant at the mall. It might’ve been because it was during the lunch rush, but there was only two ladies waiting on the entire restaurant. The kitchen was extremely slow and it took about 45 minutes to get our food. The lights weren’t on a sand it didn’t feel like the A/C wasn’t on either. I won’t be back.

I had the Happy Family, I said«no rice or noodles» so I am not sure if it is normally this tiny. It tasted fine but not enough to eat. For $ 6.48 it was fine.

Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. The lady serving us enjoyed saying NO. Do you have hot tea? NO. I would like an order of dumplings. NO. And the food, we got an orange chicken, crispy shrimp and tofu. All of it yucky. A table of four given 2 cookies. Oh brother. This place is the pits.

The place to go for Hunan style food. I’ve yet to find a place that matches their soups, dumplings and plates. Super cheap and a very family friendly atmosphere.

I’m having the Sesame Beef for the second night in a row and I just wanted to post a quick note to say I like this place. It’s not the best around, but the quality for the price is more than acceptable. The staff is courteous, the dining room is quiet and intimate, and it’s not going to wreck your wallet.

Egg drop soup, sesame chicken, and egg rolls all for under 7 dollars can’t beat that! It’s quick they know me by name and always great service. The parking is tight so I usually take a late lunch after class to come in and chow down. During peak house can be hard to find a seat but always in and out if you call in your order! Again on the sesame chicken it’s great best I have had in the city, once you try it you will be getting cravings all the time!

Food is good. Try the dinner for two: it’s two entrees, two soups, two orders of egg rolls and ribs. Superb deal! Be prepared that many dishes begin from a fried meat, so focus on menu items described as «sauteed» if you’re looking to stay away from that. Jessica approved are Orange beef, Broccoli beef, and Special Won ton soup.

I really want my local Chinese restaurant to be better! Isn’t it great to just be able to roll out the door and find great food or coffee just down the street. Well, I’m just a little disappointed that my local Chinese restaurant(just a mile from my place in the Heights) is below average. Maybe being off the beaten path near the crazy intersection of Houston, Main & I-45 doesn’t help business. The family that runs the place is nice. The décor is pretty standard old school Chinese American restaurant. The price was reasonable. My two litmus test standards are dumplings and pork fried rice(I’m pretty simple that way). Whether they were or not, the dumplings seemed like the pre-made frozen variety. The fried rice just heavy, sticky and bland. Not sure I want to try too many other things. I guess it is what it is. Just a convenient place to get Chinese on the east side of the Heights. You can always do better if you commute.
