Way better than gogi… Taste more authentic Korean in their meat, and they are more consistent with portions with their servings. oh my Gogi seems to favor people if they know them or not… Totally lame.

Hands down not only attractive looking kimchi fries but delicious isn’t even a word that can begin to encompass how good they are. The beef or the pork kimchi fries literally will make your tastebuds dance and want more. The portion size is good for the price considering its competitors small portion for its pricing. The thinly cut fries are perfect with the amount of beef and kimchi and all the other toppings included, you’re not left with fries and nothing to pair them with. The chicken quesadillas are my favorite, although all are pretty great! They are huge and have a sweet tangy flavor that’s hard to describe and impossible to find somewhere else. Not only have I experienced impeccable food but I have had amazing customer service with these guys! Once the truck was taking awhile to get going and they apologized and put extra toppings and meat on our fries. They also tend to handle the massive annoying drunk crowds that gather at their midtown stop pretty well. Overall, these guys are hands down my favorite food truck. We have often driven to where they are, just to grab dinner or a late snack! Thanks for making our tastebuds dance!

Chicken Kimchi fries were A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. We can’t wait until we come across them again.

The quesadillas are out of this world. I was skeptical at first about this food combination, but my boyfriend brought the food home, as the truck visited our apartment. I am SO glad he did. Now whenever the truck is here, I insist on getting these quesadillas. My boyfriend tried the burger and burrito and liked them both. This time he also bought the kimchi fries, which were great. I didn’t love the fries so much(I am not really a fries person anyway), but the beef on them was delicious. For a food truck and for this price point, this is as good as it gets. Can’t wait for them to come back around.

Wow, this is a great food truck. Extremely tasty Korean BBQ and good kimchi fries. I’d recommend the spicy chicken and tofu.

This food truck was everything that I hoped it would be: spicy, flavorful and satisfying. After drinking(a bit) at The Ginger Man, I stopped by Chilantro. I was told that the kimchi fries were amazing, so I ordered it with pork. My vegetarian brain wanted the tofu, but I knew that pork was the way to go. My decision was later validated by one of the truck owners. Minutes later I got my food and I knew it wasn’t a pretty sight to watch me eat them. I couldn’t help but groan every time I shoveled the golden crispy fries, coated with sriracha, kimchi and whatever deliciousness they put in there. Ermergerd. So good. It hit all of the flavor profiles that I desire: crunchy, sweet, spicy and savory. I seriously want this as part of my last meal on this planet. That’s a bold statement coming from me.

One of the best korean mexican fusion trucks I ever been to. Their burrito is okay. I don’t think burrito and korean food go together because the burrito masks away the korean flavor. But their taco and quesadilla are on point. They offer spicy pork, korean chicken, bugolgi, or tofu to go with their food. Oh and sunny side up eggs. Sunny side up eggs make everything better. Their prices are a bit higher than oh my gogi. But the food is worth it. Plus it’s the only one in Houston.

Best food-truck food ever, and I’ve eaten at a lot of food trucks. I got the tofu kimchi fries and a tofu burrito. They were both phenomenal. Later, I had to return for another round. If you’re worried about kimchi, don’t be. I don’t usually like kimchi, but this stuff was great. I’m guessing they use a more mild version. The only downside to Chilantro is the price. It’s not as cheap as I’d like a food truck to be, but the food is still worth it.

Tasty food, although heavy flavor(which is great if you like that stuff, like I do). My favorites are the pork burger with egg, and the kimchi fries(try it as a california burrito — its kimchi fries in a burrito, and all sorts of amazing). Oddly enough, I don’t think there’s any actual kimchi in the kimchi fries. Quesadilla is delicious, but very oily. Service is fast, staff is very friendly!

I’ve only tried their Kimchi fries, so I can’t speak for the other food items on their menu. I’ve tried Chilantros Kimchi fries several of times. First time, I really liked it because of the beef, it was well-marinated with the taste of sweet and salty. The beef impressed me. The fries? Not so much. Chilantro kimchi fries lacked a lot of flavor and sauce. Second time, Fries lacked a lot of sauce and flavor. Also, no kimchi in the kimchi fries. The only thing that was flavorful was the marinated beef! It could be because a new person took over the truck? I’m not sure. It could be that I came super late and they were low on ingredients. My last experience wasn’t that great. OhMyGogi has stepped up their game and use a lot of sauce, kimchi, meat, crushed peppers and other goodness to make their fries stand out. I will definitely come again to try their burrito(people seem to rave about it).

Decided to get off the couch and walk over to Torchy’s and AS usual there are taco Zombies wrapped around the building, so me a the Hulk boy decided to walk across the street to the Bright Yellow Food Truck names CHILANTRO! We stared at the menu for a while, as this place was kind of strange to us. KIMCHIFRIES Who the Hell is KIMCHI and why should I order his fries??? OHLORD here we go!!! So we played it safe and ordered Kim Chi Fries, and beef tacos… The Fries were different, YUMMYDEF craving them now that im talking about them, The tacos were good as well, but I just would have reduced the lettuce waaaay to much! ALL in ALL this place is DEF added to our top 10 Food Trucks to eat at… KIMCHI your fries were good. «DOESKOREANBOW» I think Koreans Bow if not Then I do Karate Kick… or what ever gesture Koreans do to show thanks :) SKIPSAWAY

I’m just gonna go out on a limb and say it… this is the BEST food truck in Houston! Even amongst stiff competition that includes Bernie’s Burger Bus, Coreanos, and H-Town Streets. Although not typically at the top of most people’s mobile eats list, to back up the 5-star review, here are the 5 reasons that Chi’Lantro remains at my top slot time and time again: 1.) Twitter — Although unrelated to the food, one of my top criteria for food trucks is how diligent they are about updating their location from day-to-day. In addition to the Chi’Lantro website, the Twitter feed is sure to let you know where an when to find them. When I’ve got a craving for a food truck, I WILL go out of my way to find them! 2.) The Original Kimchi Fries — You’ll be hard-pressed to find a truck that doesn’t offer some sort of «loaded fries» these days, with many almost identical versions found at Oh My Gogi!, Coreanos, etc. Although I’m not sure of the facts behind Chi’Lantro being the«original» Kimchi fries, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. One thing’s for sure though, they always hit the spot. 3.) Korean Pork Tacos — Melts in your mouth every time! 4.) Location, Location, Location — As a resident of Midtown for the past 3 years, I’ve seen the area go from a strong local bar scene with mid-sized pubs frequented by Midtowners, to once again become THE spot to go out in Houston. Regardless of whether or not I prefer the former to the latter(remind me why I’m waiting in line to get into Celtic, again?), one thing has been consistent the whole time… the food scene in Midtown has always been a red-headed stepchild to the other nighttime hot spots across town. Moral of the story… any food truck that is able to consistently take advantage of the spot right outside of Pub Fiction, is taking advantage of a huge opportunity. 5.) Rotating Monthly Specials — Haven’t tried it yet, but I am looking forward to going back for the Korean Mandu!

As a Detroit food truck lover, I have to show a lot of love to this place. Chilantro is really doing the Korean fusion cuisine better than any other food truck I’ve ever been to. If you’ve read any of the other reviews, you’ve probably heard the most popular item — the kimchi fries. I guarantee you, you will not have better fries than these. The fries themselves are a perfect kind of crispy. Their texture allows them to absorb all the flavor of the kimchi. I never thought I would describe fries as «juicy», but here we are. And a fried egg? Are you kidding me? The perfect to topping. When you crack that yolk and get your fries dripping in it, they get even better. If Chilantro is anywhere close to you, do yourself a favor and pay them a visit. The next time I’m in Houston I will just definitely be coming again.

My favorite item here is the beef bulgolgi tacos. The meat is seasoned pretty well and is drizzled with a light vinaigrette that makes my mouth water just thinking about it. My other must-try item is the kim chi fries which are loaded with kim chi, grilled onions, spicy mayo and Korean BBQ; I recommend sharing this slightly sweet and spicy combination with a friend though because it can become a little heavy towards the end. My only complaint is the small taco size for the price; I need to have at least two orders(four tacos total) to fill me up. Other than that though, the flavors are kicking, and it’s perfect to fulfill a late night snack craving.

Chilantro was a weird experience for me. I’ve been wanting to try their food and I had such high expectations so when I actually got it, I was disappointed. I got the tofu quesadilla and the spicy fries. First off, the spicy fries were not really spicy at all. I was expecting a lot more. I’m not saying they were bad, they were just disappointing. The tofu on the quesadilla tasted weird. Sweet but salty, not enough cheese, onion and cilantro. The thing that you should focus on is that there was not enough cheese. Why would you get a quesdailla that doesn’t really have cheese? The tofu also wasn’t good enough to save it. I could make better tofu at home, and it would taste better than the tofu on that quesadilla. For all the awards it has received, I would think that they would be better. Maybe I just went on an off day. Also, the guy at the truck kept trying to speak Korean, but only to the Asian people. He was white. It was weird.

Kimchi Fries — 3⁄5 — I’m not sure why it’s called kimchi fries when there is no kimchi on it. It’s pulled pork, spicy mayo, and sriracha on top of semi crunchy fries. Pork burger — 3⁄5 — it tasted more like a pulled pork sandwich. It was ok. Pork burrito — 2⁄5 — the rice was like Uncle Ben’s minute rice. There was nothing Asian or Mexican about the rice for the texture or flavor. The pork was sweet like bbq pulled pork. We waited in line for 15 minutes(maybe a handful of people ahead of us). It took 25 minute for our food to come out. The point of a food truck, so I thought, was food served fast. This was not a place I’d return to.

If you’re looking to have delicious food and be entertained, this is the place! The workers maintain a level of enthusiasm and excitement that’s unheard of. They are very friendly and fun to watch when they interact with customers. The truck is well presented and has a cleanliness to it that doesn’t make you worry about where the truck has been before. The food was decent. I ordered the beef bowl with an egg, and it was great! However, I wish they had put a little more spice in it. I was expecting to be hit with a bowl of flavor, instead I got something that, while still tasteful, was a bit underwhelming.

I finally got the chance to try this place for lunch, and visited them at the Richmond Timmons location. What we ordered: Kimchi Fries w/Beef, Quesadillas w/Pork, Tacos w/Beef ALLWEREDELICIOUS. We were not disappointed at all with any of things we tried; and next time I will be sure to try their special Pineapple Cucumber Juice because I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. The menu is plain and simple, the staff is nice, and the prices are reasonable, and the portion size is generous. But of course, with any food truck you’re guaranteed to spend time waiting whether its to order or for your food; however, Chilantro has been the fastest food truck service I’ve experienced and I’ve had my share of different food trucks around Houston. The food is worth the wait though, everything was so yum! Chilantro is the best food truck experience and food I’ve had so far! Will definitely be returning. Side note** While they are parked at the SOAP carwash at the richmond timmons location there is absolutely no where to park, if there is, I don’t know where it is. I parked on the street behind the car wash where the other patrons also seemed to be parking but there are no parking signs everywhere on that street but I just followed the lead of other Chilantro-goers.

If you have an extra 45 – 50 minutes to get average food from a truck, this is your stop!!! Never again! After waiting in line for 25 minutes, it took another 20+ minutes to get the order — WRONG!!! The line wasn’t that long, maybe 15 or so people, mostly in twos and threes. The food was just okay and after specifically making sure that one order would be the completely non spicy, somewhat sweet beef bowl, they went ahead and put hot sauce all over the top of it. Needless to say the 73 year old woman that was famished couldn’t eat it at all. The rest of us were not impressed either. If you are going to make me wait that long for food truck service, you better make it good!!! I’m not saying they weren’t trying. But, come on, there were four people working in the truck. It’s a limited menu. Get a better system and get the food out.

No matter what you order GETTHEBEEF on it. I tried a bite of burger, shared half the fries and ate a quesadilla. We both agreed the best item was the fries(this is true of any of the Korean/Mexican trucks in town). Spicy sauce + acidic kimchi + sweet and savory beef + crispy warm fries = BRILLIANTDELICIOUSNESS. The portion of fries is large(though not as big as OMG or Coreanos) and the meat/toppings to fry ratio from Chilantro is ideal. As for the best Korean Mexican fusion truck in town, I’m saying it’s a draw between Chilantro and Oh My Gogi. If one was closer, I’d go to that one. If they were sitting across the road from each other, I’d go to the one that had the cheapest fries. If the fries cost the same, I’d go to the one that offered me a free drink with Unilocal check-in — which Oh My Gogi does. HOWEVER, I hate chasing down food trucks, and Chilantro posts a weekly schedule on Facebook at the start of each week, which I GREATLY appreciate.

What I love about O.M.G.‘s fries: the sauce. What I love about Coreanos’ fries: the kimchi. And Chilantro’s fries are smothered in amaaaazing sauce AND kimchi?! Well, well, well, whaddaya know… #win Aside from all the«kimchi fries» epicness they have going on, Chilantro’s menu boasts more items than I’ve ever seen on a Korean-Mex-fusion truck — from the staples: tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and fries, in addition to [this is new] rice bowls and burgers. I finally tracked them down @ the«Haute Wheels» Food Truck Festival yesterday and their line was insane, but rightfully so. The staff was incredibly nice — they were all smiles, they addressed me by name — just an all-around cool group of people… which was something I *really* appreciated, considering I just spent 25 – 30 mins waiting in line. After just one visit, I personally feel that Chilantro Truck is the **BEST** Korean-Mex-fusion truck in Houston. That’s it. We’re done. Case closed. And if this Unilocaler’s humble opinion doesn’t grab your attention, let me just throw this out there: Chilantro Korean Tacos — featured on «The New York Times» Chilantro Kimchi Fries — featured on «Food & Wine» and«The Cooking Channel» Chilantro Burgers — featured on «Food Network» Need I say more? Didn’t think so.
