Never coming back horrible service and I’m not sure how this company stays in business. Natalyn was polite but a horrible server, and never smiled. Mike at the front was just as bad.

Great food, great service from the wait staff and very efficient for a team that is very young. Five stars for the restaurant side but… fair warning about the store side, the old birds ringing me up took their time gossiping saying things like«there are more freak shows than a circus» and the three of them cackling while I’m waiting for them to ring me up with a huge line behind me. One had a serious attitude when I asked about a 40% discount that wasn’t applied to one of my items as if I was seriously inconveniencing her time but I don’t think it was directed towards me, it was directed towards one of the new trainees… And I know this because I stood at the counter long enough listening to the old birds while the young chickens run around actually working.

Usually great food and service at all Cracker Barrel locations. However, I must say this location(I-10 and Barker Cypress) has either the worst management or hosts/hostesses. Instead of pushing a few tables together for our party of 8 they waited for 1 specific table that seats 8 to get their food and eventually leave. New parties of 4 would arrive and be sat after only a few minutes(which is expected to some degree) but there was constant turnover meaning there would be tables next to each other that could be combined for a larger party. Once there was no one else waiting for a table I decided to go talk to the manager. The manager offered nothing to make the situation right after talking to him. I explained I was a waiter for years and this was not acceptable to have a party wait for one specific table that may not leave for hours! After 45 mins of waiting, the situation resolved itself as that table finally left. Of course when we were sat, we saw numerous tables next to each other that were empty and could have been pushed together. Not cool. The waitress, Kim, was very nice but the food was also not as good as usual.

I’m having a hard time finding the words to write this review. I’m a pretty adventurous eater, and my family are Indian and Nigerian. I’m trying my hardest not to compare them to ethnic cuisine. I met up with my friend here to celebrate her father’s life(he passed away a year ago). He was quite the country cowboy type; ergo we came her. The store: I really like the store. They have all my childhood candies that you can only find at specialty places, or Old Town Spring. The only place I don’t mind waiting for because I can get lost in all the little knick knacks and laffy taffy. It’s interesting the things you will find. With it being a specialty type store, the prices aren’t cheap… but they aren’t overpriced either. They’re what you would expect. The restaurant: It has a very country feel. There is a big fire place they usually light up, if it gets cold enough. Rocking chairs in the front, checker games, horse shoes, and a few old timey games I can’t remember what their names are. Our waiter was very nice and polite. He may have forgotten a few things, but he always remembered to go back and get it right after. Can’t blame him too much, we were a big crowd. We were there on a Monday around 8pm and the place wasn’t packed at all. The food: Hmm. The kind of food they serve here is the kind of food you will see at Kelly’s, or Luby’s, or any other diner type. I ended up getting chicken and dumplings, which they are known for, hash brown casserole, green beans and mac ‘n cheese. I like that you get to pick 3 sides, that was a plus. The chicken and dumplings were just ok. The fact that it all looks one pale color makes them look unappetizing. They taste better than it actually looks. I found the sides to taste better than the main meal. The hashbrown casserole was pretty good. I will say they get points for me for having a decent mac n cheese as it’s hard to find them not overcooked with diluted cheese sauce to save on cost. The green beans were ok. Overall the restaurant has kind of a neat theme, but the food is very average, but palatable. I forgot to say they serve you biscuits and cornbread before your meal, which are actually warm and freshly delicious. My waiter was polite, the store is interesting to peruse, but there are other places where the food is superior to this place without the bells and whistles. I’m basing my review on their lunch and dinner menu. Their breakfast is actually on par with other diners. A solid 3⁄5 stars, but no more and no less.

At one time I loved coming here but gradually the food and service have gone down. It took 15 minutes for the waitress to come to the table. She’s terrible btw. It took another 10 plus to get the drinks. She finally brought the biscuits and cornbread. The biscuits were good, not anything like they once were. The cornbread has gotten nasty. No flavor and dry. Please go back to your old recipe. And she brought three packages of jelly, all the same flavor. This is her MO, her tables all had three of the same flavor and each table had a different flavor. Lol. It’s been more 20 minutes and the tables haven’t been busted. The service and food have all gone down hill. This is my last visit here. They need to clean up and bring back some quality. This place is dirty.

Came to lunch today with a friend. The wait for two was about 20 – 25 minutes, as it was during rush hour. Our server, Amanda, was very pleasant and always had a smile on her face. There was a bit of a confusion with our food but nothing major. The food was delicious and within the expected time. Will definitely be back.

Just keep on driving by. Yes they have all the comfort foods you want but you will be disappointed by poor service, dirty floors and if you have to send anything back because it was raw it will come back well done. It was odd that when two ladies from the back, obviously management, people started moving but we got to eat our meal while looking at the messy tables and dirty floored. Unacceptable.

Excellent service! Figured I come to eat here for thanksgiving because the wife didn’t want to cook this year! Boy did I make the right decision! The food was delicious!!! Not only that our waitress Sharon was amazing and probably the best waitress I’ve ever had! Will be coming back

Nice country style restaurant for breakfast/brunch! There was a 10 – 15 min wait at around 10am on Saturday, but that was nothing as I was busy exploring their gift store(as a first timer). We ordered a sunrise sampler, pancakes and a side of french toast to get a taste of everything. Sunrise sampler– the biscuits were so soft and fluffy! Gravy and grits were good(lightly flavored). The sausage, bacon and ham were too salty for me though. Pancakes– DELICIOUS French toast– meh… not sure about french toast with sourdough… texture was rough and the eggs didn’t seem to get inside the bread enough. Very attentive and friendly staff. Their mini board game was pretty fun, it should keep you entertained while waiting for your food.

Sorghum molasses are not really molasses, but actually a sweet syrup popular in the South. They aren’t the same as blackstrap molasses, which are made from sugarcane or beets, while sorghum is a grass. Cracker Barrel is probably the only place in Houston that serves sorghum molasses, and you have to ask for it because it’s not on the menu. Go ahead, order some, and pour it over your biscuits the same as you would with honey. Delicious! And utterly Southern. I like Cracker Barrel for all the reasons anyone does — the fun store up front, the connection to road trips, the game that sits on every table, the rockers outside, the delicious food — but more than all that, I like them for having sorghum molasses.

My friend and I arrived around 7:30, was placed on a brief wait before being seated because there was no one up front. I momentarily thought we were dining in Antartica because the AC was on so high. This was my first time here, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the food is definitely hearty and will fill you up. I ordered the country fried steak but was served the chicken fried chicken. Our waiter was so busy and running around that I didn’t get a chance to tell him, so I just ate it. It was good but not particularly memorable– my sides were mac and cheese(it looked better than it tasted) and season veggies(no flavoring, literally steamed veggies). I enjoyed my meal– nothing a little hot sauce can’t fix! My friend got the roast beef dish and he really enjoyed it. We were served cornbread twice because the biscuits were in the oven. Not until we asked for the check did we finally bring up the biscuits again, and the waiter seemed to have forgotten about them. He brought them out right away and they were warm and good. Overall, it was an OK experience, as a first-timer, it didn’t make a big impression on me. I don’t think I’ll return on my own but if my friend wants to go again, I will.

Stick to the breakfast items and try not to notice all of the food on the floors under the tables.

I don’t know what you guys are talking about, I had a delightful experience here today. My husband and I got there before 11:30 after a short procedure at the hospital. We were seated promptly, our waitress was pleasant and helpful and our food was quick and tasty. i had scrambled eggs, yummy hash brown casserole. grits and turkey sausage. My husband got some of everything and then some. It was all delicious. I even picked up a rocking chair for the back porch on the way out. Now, for the sake of my waistline I can’t eat here everyday but in their defense they do have Eggbeaters low fat eggs and whole wheat pancake healthier options.

Usually we always have good service and a welcoming attitude at Cracker Barrel… except this one. We have been all across the country and this is the first review of this nature we have ever had to make. When we arrived no one welcomed us, we were seated by a rude male host. When we sat down there were dirty tables all around us, with no one cleaning them. And that’s when we realized we may not be getting very good service. Coupled with the fact that no one even acknowledged us in any way. After 10 minutes of being ignored and never even getting a drink order we went on a hunt for the manager. I directly blame the manager, as her whole team failed in providing the customer service we normally receive at Cracker Barrel. It wasn’t just one person having a bad day it was a culture of negativity and bad service. I will never go to this one again.

Great place to eat a good southern breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The pancakes are melt in your mouth delicious! I also love their biscuits & gravy! For lunch or dinner, I always get the meatloaf with mashed potatoes & gravy, corn, and squash casserole. Their salads are pretty great too! After eating, they have a small gift store where I love to get candies from when I was little. Can’t really describe what all they sell, but it’s a nice store to walk through.

When we lived in west Houston, this Cracker Barrel was a Sunday-after-church regular spot for our family. In the area yesterday, we visited for a late breakfast, and as usual, Cracker Barrel did not disappoint. This is one of those chains I feel I can always count on. The 20-minute wait was well worth it.

Can’t beat breakfast at one of these places. The pancakes were pretty good and my kiddo’s oatmeal was OK. He doesn’t do the apple thing, so they did their best to remove the apples and just add cinnamon. Great staff! Having to go out through the store and pay at the cashier there is pretty confusing and daunting, considering there are usually a good number of people shopping and browsing. Good food will always have us returning!

I haven’t been here in years simply because I don’t like to wait and there is always a wait. Even this time my tip said it would be a 35 minute wait but I was off and didn’t have anything else on my agenda. The wait turned out to be only 10 minutes! It was a cold day and they had a real nice fire going tin the fireplace so it was very cozy in here. My server came up to take my order and saw my Saints warmup on and said who dat! lol She then took my order. The food was cooked to perfection and it was a lot, I had grits, eggs, bacon, hash browns, biscuits and apples, with coffee and orange juice. It was a full meal. It was well worth the wait. So if you don’t mind waiting in the fancy rocking chairs out front. stop in for a bite to eat.

Finally got to try this place! It’s been on my list for a while because I love breakfast food. The menu is OVERWHELMING. They have a different menu for breakfast and lunch/dinner. These menus are extensive. We made a mistake by asking for both and that took forever to order. I got the jack chile chicken with Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and dumplings. My boyfriend got the chicken fried chicken breakfast that came with two eggs, grits and a hash brown casserole. We both liked my chicken more cause of flavor. Not a big fan of the grits. Simple and good Mac and cheese. The dumplings were nice and soft! They have chicken and dumplings as an entrée choice but why get that if you can get the dumplings as a side?! The best part were the biscuits! They were nice and warm and good! However, they did not bring us our biscuits on time. We had to ask the waitress for it and then a manager because she never brought them. Management style seems to need some help though. We had numerous servers come up to us, I guess no one has their own table and we don’t know who to ask what for. On the side note, we got to sit next to his mean old fart that complained about how the waitress described what chicken fried chicken was. He said he was over it but then proceeded to call manager over to complain and then call the girl back to tell her off again. I felt bad for the poor girl.
