Yesterday was the second time that we used Crown Overhead Doors. Our garage door spring broke when my husband left for work. My car was trapped in the garage. I called Crown and they said they would have someone out within the hour. I thought, «Yeah right!» I live on the Far Eastside of Houston and it is a pain get service providers out to us. To my surprise, someone was out within the hour! Yay! To make it better, he finished the repair within 15 minutes. Great work. Thank you!

I went here to check out garage door bottom seal (16ft wide residential) and the sale guy quoted me $ 95 plus tax. The guy behind charged me $ 28OTD. These people are manipulative and appear not very genuine or honest.
DETAIL/​BACKGROUND: There are two types of seal, slide on (flexible type) and screw on (rigid type), and i needed the screw on type. HD has the slide on type for about $ 15 and not the type I needed.
Knowing that $ 95 for some plastic/​rubber seal is overpriced, I kept my cool. I asked the price of the flexible type and quoted me $ 85 bucks. I showed him The similar product on my HD app showing dor about $ 15 and he tried to deny that’s the same product. I asked him to lower the price on the seal I need and he went to the back and came back saying his manager can lower it to $ 65 from $ 95. I told him I’m willing to pay $ 30 for it and he said no. I thanked him for his time and left.
Now, I don’t care that they price it $ 95 bc the seal I wanted isn’t available at places I looked but its wrong to price-​gouge on the other seal where it’s available at HD. I called around and found a large warehouse right behind this store and bought the seal for $ 28 OTD. Bottom line is these people will most likely take advantage of the weak customer. They will likely charge you more than competitor base on teh same service level.

It’s Friday early afternoon, one of the rare occasions I get off work early. I just got paid, I have plans to meet friends for happy hour and some amazing dinner plans with the wife. As I pull into my driveway and press the garage door button, the garage door opening ¾’s of the way, only the right side was going up. Before I knew it, the door was bending in the middle and the garage door had come off the rails.
I managed to get the garage door back on the railing and close it partially, but looking at it, it wasn’t looking good. I walked to my neighbors, they had a garage issue a few months back. I asked if they had the number to the company they had used. He was happy to give me the phone number and gave them high praise. I was hoping they would work for me. I called them, they had somebody in my drive way in 30 minutes. He assessed the damage, explained to me what had happened and why we were going to have to replace it instead of just fixing it. Door panels bent in the middle that once raised would bend again and a busted cable. He called their warehouse, verified they had a similar door available in stock and had it dispatched in a matter of minutes. He broke down the busted garage door and explained what the differences were going to be between the old and new one. Basically it was getting replaced with sturdier thicker product. Who knew? Another guy shows up with the garage door and they start the install. You can tell these guys just bang these out all day. The whole process was a 3 hour tour, from my phone call to a functioning garage door. That was much faster than I had anticipated.
I was able to catch the tail end of the happy hour and make dinner with the wife. Crown Door Services saved my Friday night. If you pay with cash or check they do give a small discount. Which is good because you’d be surprised how much a new garage door cost to install.
